I agree with EVERYTHING you wrote. Hands down. 100%.
But I wanted to share this thread/video with you all because I personally ācreated a solutionā that was beneficial and conducive in helping me re-fall in love with Playing Overwatch again. Now some may not relate to my method, or what Iāve doneā¦ but getting out of solo queueā¦ (at least until Blizzard drops some quality features on us) is truly the only way Iām going to keep playing this game.
Iām grateful I found positive gamers with a competitive spirit that want to try their best. Itās all you can ask for, and as a result (because are 6 stacked) there is no more toxicityā¦ no more throwersā¦ no more leavers.
Win or lose, we are having fun (although we are mostly winning).

Iād like to be more serious now though. I love our little team, and each time I play with them I feel that this game is so much more fun.
I usually play Zen, Zarya, Ana, thatās my main ones I play in comp, and let me tell you all. Shotcalling. It is amazing when you play with friends especially with Zen, with randoms, You say. āKill the Zen in the back ! Heās half !ā No communication, half the team not in voice, the other not listening. We lose because people do not follow up.
BUT
Then you play with friends who actually listen to you, who actually follow up when you do something. Many times I am the shotcaller when I play Zen, and it is such a migthy feeling when people listen to you. āKill Ana, sheās discorded/half health.ā Then it happens, she dies because people actually listen, she dies because people care.
That is an amazing feeling.
So Rich. You da real MVP.
āNever stop fighting for what you believe in.ā
And I believe in our team. <3

I couldnāt agree more. But I felt I should at least share this with the community for those that want to try and make the effort so they donāt have to solo queue anymore. I honestly canāt go back to solo queuing anymore (at least not as the game currently sits).
Oh definitely. I barely played lately; I always play with a friend which is more enjoyable, but even so, I lost motivation. Even as a duo, itās frustrating.

I see what you want to say with that.
Back in S3, the season in which i hit Diamond, I played most of the time solo. No team, just a single man.
But then i was matched with a 5 stack, which wanted me to group up with them. The following 5 rounds were some of the most enjoyable matches i ever played in OW. We havenāt played really well, but i never laughed that much during a match and still won, that was also the first time that i saw a team (enemy) pull off a C9.
But anyway, the point is OW is most enjoyable, if you play serious or not, while playing with multiple people. I think thatās no secret.
But many donāt quit, because they have no team.
Many donāt like how the game is developing. If you have no gameplay which is enjoyable, which it was for sure at one point, players leave. Thatās just normal.
I played Comp every day, now i only jump in DM to get my 3 Loot boxes and thatās most of the time coupled with a lot frustration.
I really like the game, no doubt about that. But year 2 had to many changes which went in the wrong direction and made the game fundamentally less enjoyable for many.

RichC your positive threads are a light in the darkness we call the forums

I only found someone during S4 and partly S5 to play with. It was amazing to have someone actually being a constant good teammate. But Blizzard taking so long to create a teamfinder is just bad.
Also a lot of people dont want to go to forums etc. just to find a team. They need an ingame solution for it like a clan/guild system or whatever.

Just a heads up, might want to cover the name of the creator of the thread āwhy I am quitting overwatchā (timestamp 22 seconds at the beginning of the video). Thus it could lead to witchhunt and harassment especially since the said thread is currently on the front page.

Why would i?
Itās just a game not a lifestyle.
Absolutely agree. I just wanted to share my solution on how I got out of solo queue. Blizzard absolutely needs a guild/lfg system feature. This game was meant to played in stacked teams. We are all missing out because of these lack of features.

I support that thread tho 100% itās a good thread that generated good discussion and concerns. I donāt really want to go back and edit my video. Hopefully I wonāt have to, but thank you for the warning.
Amazing video RichC and I wholeheartedly agree with you. Overwatch is a great game, but you will have more fun when played with friends.
I played most of my time Solo and I had fun but I canāt deny that there were problems, it was until I got matched with a goofy 5-stacks and they asked me to join them. Iām not a very socially active person if you know what I mean, but while playing with them I was laughing my lungs out so I accepted their offer. Weāve been playing the game together since season 7, and Iām having the best time of my Overwatch life.

Well, itās good to see you around. But I guess it was close to see you leave.
The best thing we have for now is the forums, at least we have that. The old forums didnāt have that (other than the EU ones.)
Great to see yet another quality post from you RichC!
Youāve instilled some hope into me yet, good sir. Iāve been toying with the idea of grouping for quite some time. Iāve been playing solo for the last 8 seasons.
Granted I did actually climb into Diamond around Season 6, and I have faith that I could do it once again.
I applaud the well thought out post and am glad you are sticking around!

This is my more serious response to the threadā¦
I am a solo player always have been and until the day I die most probable will be. I have been a online/Lan player since the 1980s. even though we may fight/troll/co operate as a community. Community, a weird word with Overwatch. Honestly if im going to be non-Trollish we are a Family. We push and pull in so many directions its not funny. Though in the end we always look out for each other. Being honest with my self the day that our family no longers feels like a family I have no clue what i will be doing. A new Game, fighting to bring back old values.
I am only in this game in the long haul because of everyone else thats playing, It is the players that make this game.

I like how my post was the main point in this.
I just want to say that I love you RichC, even though we may not agree on everything.
I love you for staying positive and for making a productive counter post.
Unfortunately for me, I do have a large group of very good friends that I play with but playing with people isnāt my main issues. Not to mention, a lot of those friends are frustrated for a lot of the same reasons and are also leaving Overwatch.
I am happy for you that you are able to find good positive people to play with because you are right, it totally makes a difference.
I have no problem with you showing my name in your video.
I donāt care that people donāt agree with me. We are all human and we are all entitled to our own opinions.
But for meā¦ I really think there are some things that Overwatch needs to improve on before I can come back and enjoy the game. Hero balance is a massive concern for me.
Again, everyone has their own views on hero balance, but I happen to think the balance is pretty bad atm. It really really kills the fun.
Again. Love you.

Thank you Nazgrol. When I read your post, I felt every concern you stressed. I get it, I know these frustrations too. As for balance, your opinion is certainly shared by a lot of the community; myself included.
I wanted deathball to come back, but not like this. These two big changes with Brig and Hanzo really created a STIFF metaā¦ not to mention all the bugs (like you mentioned in your original post). If they stopped working on heroes for 6 months and just focused on:
- Balance
- More maps
- More social features
- and bug fixes
Iād be much happier.
