Why I Have Yet to Not Despise Mercy's Current State

Pretty sure its going to for a while, the Bastion mains have kept their megathread up for ages now and they’re just a small handful of a vocal minority. The Mercy players though, they are much louder voice.

It was a shoutout in thanks for you granting me bragging rights.

More voices yes, but not louder ones

Mercy already has insane mobility. I am very hesitant to grant her another mobility ability as her E, as she already has the highest mobility potential in the game.

Of course, that full potential is rarely reached, but adding another mobility ability on E would make Mercy too mobile.

Combine that with the issues of both 1.x and 2.x - the fact that Mercy doesn’t have any fight-swinging potential outside of Resurrect - and it seems clear to me that Mercy’s E ability should be an ability that directly and rapidly affects the fight.

Brigitte and Ana don’t need to wait a minimum of 31 seconds and then expend their ultimates to burst heal their allies. A 150 HP burst heal on an ultimate will not encroach on Ana/Brigitte’s turf as burst healers.

Going to point this out again…

If anyone cares …

Me too. I even remember sometimes (cause I had a little bit of anger issues… I’ve gotten better XP) But when the Enemy Mercy got the card for Heroes Rezzed, I would tease them and be like “See, none of my teammates died, because I actually did a good job.” And 99% of the time my healing card was up there too XP

I stopped playing awhile ago but I am still lurking on the forums so I can check the state of Overwatch. If we got a rework similar to this for Mercy, it would probably make me come back.

Same. I play the game very rarely now, but I’m on the forums quite often. And totally agree I’d come back for something like this. :innocent:

I half-wonder how many people behind this don’t even play overwatch/mercy anymore. Seems like a lot more than I anticipated.

I still play her often, and enjoy doing so. However, I still find her ult lackluster, and I’m upset that E rez isn’t instant during ult (or that it at least doesn’t have slow and/or a reduced cast time).
Honestly, what little I’ve seen of alpha Valk seems like a better version of it. But again, I would much prefer the rework proposed in this post. Much more engaging than current Valk and Mass Rez Mercy (even tho I love that Mercy).

Alpha Valk was a monstrosity.

Lasted 20 seconds

Instant rez

Reset rez cooldown

Decreased rez cooldown to 10 seconds

GA was 50% faster than it is now

And lets not forget her gun…

Faster projectile speed

Infinite ammo

I seem to recall some Youtubers saying it was too weak…

Mass Resurrect thread reaches almost 3k responses.

Does anyone wonder why blizzy ignores y’all?

Even if we ignore the entirety of this thread as a whole, let’s look at mercy before and after her rework in 3 easy points.

Was mercy fun pre-rework? Yes.
Was mercy balanced pre-rework? Yes.
Was mercy fun to play against? No. 2/3 achieved, with only the ‘not fun to play against’ being a negative.

Let’s look after the rework.
Is mercy fun to play? No.
Is mercy balanceed? No.
Is mercy fun to play against? No.
0/3

Even going off of this, it’s clear that the rework failed lmao

Sad thing is it’s just about as clear as a tin can to most people…

Definitely, but so far all our suggested new features have rolled over into new characters like Moira and Brigitte.

With beam Merge idea and the burst heal + Healing Overflow idea

Honestly speaking, maybe adding more utility to Mercy isn’t the way to go but I agree, it is easier to balance

Aside from that, if we had a buff and debuff specialist that is a main healer, I would definitely try/play her

We sort of need a consistent healer that is as strong as Mercy

At work at the moment but we will have the debate later, the idea could work but again it is regurgitated ideas once again and it is leaning back towards seeing the smaller picture and not the bigger picture like how we thought 2.0 during pre release would be a NERF, a balance to Mercy but people did not consider the con of the changes.

But yeah I will point out the con, it could work but Mercy has to be NERF to maintain balance

The problem there is that “fun” is not something that is provable.

What is fun is up to the person experiencing it, not what the experience is.

So… you’re saying that the reworked part of mercy’s kit is actually FUN for someone? The clunky rez that forces you to hide and an ult that makes you be a spectator for 15 seconds??? GA is fun, but that’s always been there lol, let’s not get it twisted.

Yes, it is fun for someone.
