Why I Have Yet to Not Despise Mercy's Current State (Part 1)

Well there are a few things to me that stand out.

  1. The GA Bunny Hop is able to be accessed to often and therefore makes it a bit to easy. But I feel she doesn’t possess enough independent movement to help her perform in her role just a bit better. I would like to see a jump put on spacebar a bit like Hanzo’s but how it works is:
If you jump and then press space again without using GA, you get a slight vertical boost, enough to be able to GA to someone who never comes to an edge. Then the Jump goes on a cooldown.
But if you use it in the middle of GA, like now you can still do the bunny hop but it goes on cooldown making Bunny Hop less frequent and less of a pain to deal with.

  2. Valkyrie uses near the exact same mindset and skillset you are using the whole game, except it takes a lot more away from you such . An ult that is just different but still suits her kit would be nice. Even if it works more like a Tracer designed ult to give her more soft but quick midfight potential. Like maybe she gets a smallish but decent enough for the smaller team fights burst healing kind of ult. So she can think about something different to do, something she feels like she needs to prepare for to get maximum value.

  3. And just in general an E ability that doesn’t feel painful to use. Like, she is a character about mobility that gets slowed to an incredibly slow pace. It doesn’t feel good. You aren’t even allowed to use mad crouch tactics. It would be nice to have free movement in a restricted area and if you leave that area then the rez is cancelled. But at this point, no rez for an ability that feels good and can raise her skill ceiling would be nice. Like something that has an aim mechanic so we can use some form of mechanical skill without always resorting to the pistol.

My other questions or ideas are like:

  • What if Rez could be thrown and but could also be blocked from reaching it’s location? You throw a bouncy orb that can bounce along the floor, bounces off shields, can be eaten, the more it bounces the less health you revive someone with but each bounce can expend healing in return for the health lost upon revival. Perhaps make the amount lost for revive a percentage based thing, so it is less effective if you can revive a tank but reward you for getting heals on that tank.

  • What if we get rid of Rez in favour of damage immunity? Whether it be a single target or mass ability. It still can have the same impact against instant kill ults but still not as good as Trans or Sound Barrier for anything too long. It’s enough to make some time for people to react. Give time for a Rein to decide what will be a bigger threat that he can shield when it is over, etc.

  • What if Mass Rez was cast before and if Mercy dies before the cast ends the rez is cancelled?

  • What if she just held people on the brink of death and those who take lethal damage get healed at the end?

There are lots of things to try that still line up to her character, that don’t have to change her animations too drastically.

So you admit there is less incentive, particularly for less skilled Mercy players to beam juggle in current Valk?
How can you not see that your rework doesn’t do anything to make it any more skillful than her base kit? In fact, it still makes her skill ceiling lower than her base kit. That is a problem because she has so little skill expression as it is.
