Why Handicapping (MMR) is Wrong for Competitive Play

Wow… Just wow… So this thread has now come to a point where it’s actually being argued that balancing matches to give both team an equal chance to win given their current MMR is bad? Or maybe it is just handicapping the best players? But then again if we put all the best players together to play against the worst players we would effectively be handicapping the worst players (by limiting their ability to climb by creating unfair matches)…

So basically everything is handicapping and handicapping can be good and/or bad. Good to know.

EDIT: Jorlan - just now saw your reply to my randomness simulation. Sorry about that. If I get a bit of time over between work tasks I might look into setting up a different simulation but I’m not 100% sure I get your parameters so will have to read your reply a few more times.
