I mean, I honestly don’t get how someone can look at the name Wrecking Ball and not feel like it’s awful and forced upon. D.Va is short, catchy, actually feels like a name. Wrecking Ball is just there, it’s a thing, not a hero name. I wouldn’t say it’s just a personal opinion it’s actually common sense speaking here
How is an opinion on a name common sense? People are allowed to like whatever name they want and one is not the “right” opinion. As I said, Wrecking Ball is a stage name. Just Because he uses a mech that functions similarly as a wrecking ball does not mean it shouldn’t be named that.
does it really have any personality to it, as say Reaper has, for example, or McCree? I don’t know I just don’t get the chills or the hype from that name at all and I’m not sure the people who feel it are just feeling it for the miley cyrus memes and whatnot. I’m being serious about it here and getting down to actually plain looking at the character and its name, paired up with the rest of the cast. it just doesn’t feel nice and a part of OW
I absolutely love Hammond btw, just the name Wrecking Ball that sucks
I mean, D.Va is not called Hana or MEKA, she’s called D.Va. Doomfist is only called Doomfist because he stole the doomfist and Hammond is called Wrecking Ball because that’s kind of what his mech is.
Just call him Hammond, I know I will. My friend is currently calling him Hammy.
It’s okay that you aren’t interested in the name “Wrecking Ball”. I’m just saying that its simply an opinion.
It’s easier to say Hammond in comms.
Its also easier to just say “ball” or “ham” tho. And which is gonna sound less confusing when you see him rolling in?
OWL announcers: “Let’s listen in to last match’s communication by the winning team.”
Team comms: “MONKEYBALLMONKEYBALLMONKEYBALLMONKEYMONKEYBALLBALL”
OWL announcers: “Wow. So clean. So smooth.”
I think he should be called Hammond as well.
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw he was known as Wrecking Ball was that, for example, according to present lore, Ana is lately most known as Shrike, but still, in the game she is called Ana, so why not doing the same with Hammond?
OK some things to add.
I get that it’s his stage name in Junkertown, same goes for D.va with her gamertag, but even the name “D.va” has different spelling than diva, so it’s easy to recognize the name, which is my main problem with “Wrecking Ball”, It’s not a good “marketable” name. Mario, Cloud, Snake, Tracer, Reaper, etc. When you hear these names and think video games you already know the image. There’s clouds, snakes, reapers, and tracers, but you instantly know what characters I’m referring to. If everybody is calling him Hammond and that’s what we know him by (not the imaginary people of junkertown) why does he have to be named “Wrecking Ball”
I completely agree that he should be called Hammond not “wrecking ball.”
I agree, I think it would be so much better if they named him Hammond instead of Wreaking Ball. Tons of people are already calling him Hammond so they should just call him Hammond. Wreaking Ball just doesn’t roll of the tongue.
They’ve added in Orisa and Moira to seperate Pharah and Mercy
Ana right now is currently not known as Ana, so why not make Hammond his name?
I too made a post on this, I do agree to changing it to Hammond.
just ignore these topics, they are a waste of time and disrespectful
I think that Wrecking Ball would be fine if it was just a robot, a killing machine with an AI, and not a small creature that would be better if we cared more about it.
But because there’s a hamster inside, controlling everything, if they want us to even remember he is there - cause he is small, he doesnt talk, he barely has any personality -, they need to call him by his name, Hammond.
I will never use this full “Wrecking ball” name, it’s too long. I will use Ball or Hamster most of the time, but I think that I would use eventually use Hammond if I had this name there.
but if they change his name then he won’t be right next to his best friend Winston on the hero menue since it’s alphabetical
Well, and who cares? This has literally zero importance.
