Why does everyone hate widow

Majority of you play in bronze-plat (majority of the player base are in these ranks), so odds are you aren’t playing with or against good widows. It’s EXTREMELY unlikely you’re actually playing against one who is “landing headshot after headshot” like you all claim. I call bandwagon hate.

One-shots can feel cheap, and I’m on the Masters/GM border

Dying to anyone can feel cheap. Find another excuse to complain about a balanced hero.

I think this one explains why balanced heroes are still problems. Like Doomfist, Brigitte, Sombra, even if heroes are just countering few heroes which is a normal thing in Overwatch it brings hate a lot

Well the Bronze-Plat players got us Brigitte because they were supposedly going up against GM Tracer players who were just one clipping non-stop…

So get ready for Brigitte 2.0 who is meant to counter snipers but will just break the game like Brig did.

It’s very simple:

The most picked DPS is overpowered.

I don’t mind dying to soldier, I was within range

I don’t mind dying to Junk, it means I walked in his spam

But widow… dying at full health without noticing that little sniper stick in the distance doesn’t feel fun

dude… the comunity like to focus thier lack of wins into hating a random hero
like happen to brigitte, mercy, hanzo, junkrat, etc.

If they’re a bad Widowmaker, they are just helping the enemy team. A Widowmaker that can’t effectively kill the squishies with headshots while avoiding getting killed her self is just feeding the enemy healers.

If the enemy has a “good” Widowmaker (relatively speaking) can can at least make half their headshots count, then it’s infuriating to get one-shotted. It’s also infuriating when you feel that your team isn’t doing anything about the enemy Widowmaker that is killing you.

Dying in general does not feel fun.

Swap to someone that counters widow or someone who can take care of themselves. Yes this is a team based game but there are heroes that are more self-reliant.

Sure, would do that if possible. Sometimes if you get stuck playing main tank or healer, it’s not a good idea to swap.

If you have to play tank choose Hammond or D.Va, if you have to play support try Moira or Lucio. More self reliant and harder for Widow to headshot you.

I wish it would be that simple, but they complain even about other dps being op, even if they are on the less picked half of dps.

bandwagon hate? you must be new here. All people do on here is trade out bandwagons and repeat other people’s arguments.

Its the forum flavor of the month.

When they realized Rein/Zarya isn’t getting a nerf, they moved on to the next best thing.

Did not realize you were psychic or creepily watched everyones game in the playerbase

She’s one of those heroes that swings from pretty much useless to highly oppressive without much in-between–on one end, she’s a bad pick that half the time amounts to throwing, and at the other, she renders pretty much any other DPS pick irrelevant.

Getting one-shot from across the map with little indication that it’s coming is not fun–dying in general isn’t fun, but it’s even worse when you have effectively no time to react to it. Being forced to pile up behind a tank or sit behind cover all the time until the sniper is dead or forced off so that you can “counterplay” that is not exactly thrilling gameplay–it’s nice when you actually have a little more actionable responses to an enemy than hiding until you have a chance to possibly dive at her (which is easier said than done)

She’s overall an extremely polarizing hero whose presence in the game leads to the necessity for some fairly unhealthy mechanics (i.e. high mobility heroes who can actually close the gap to her, which in turn necessitates high amounts of CC) to keep her “balanced”

Most people don’t say “Ha, she got me because I was out of position with very sloppy and predictable movements, good shot!” when being killed by a sniper. So they resort to whining. People also don’t enjoy dying in a game, but haven’t stopped to consider that it is her main job as a DPS, and basically how the game progresses at all. We can’t really do anything if we hold shields and heal up forever, someone needs to eventually die.

Usually, DPS get the hate even if actually balanced, as soon as people realize they are somewhat effective. Because for a DPS to be effective, it means he/she is killing people, and death is bad. Otherwise, tanks and supports usually get a free pass unless they are game breaking broken like release Brig or moth Mercy. It’s because them being effective doesn’t usually translate to death, so their power often get masked.

Widow was considered for the most part one of the best balanced heroes in the game (she still is). She has remained mostly unchanged with only minor tweaks to her kit ever since her launch nerf, all of the recent ones being nerfs.

SHE. IS. FINE.

Well, most players can accept that they walked into the open without any cover and deserved to die, same as accepting the other examples.

One shots requires skills , but “Feels cheap”
