Why do you play comp?

I don’t play ranked very often, plying QP more often than not, but I still love playing comp because I’ll actually have to utilize everything I’ve learned so far into a game.

In qp, I don’t really have to worry about peeling, or micromanage cooldowns. I don’t really need to track enemy ults or manage ult economy. I don’t need to hit every headshot. I don’t really need to push myself to the limits of my potential.

Comp is like trying to draw a complex scene, something you can be proud of.
QP is like doodling on some scrap paper, experimenting and just having fun, but at the end of the day it’s disposable.

Comp is a test of your skill, a record of your growth and development as a player. And I don’t think anyone enjoys watching their skills getting rusty, or even stagnating at the limits of your craft.

Placements to get a rank to get comp points. Nothing more than that.

Two and a half years of hopelessly trying to improve at something I love as the game continuously gets worse.

Because that is what my friends play.
Because I don’t like having to tell my team to get out of spawn and on the objective. (like in QP)
Because I dont like my teammates trying to get gold in emote spamming (like in QP)

Because I want to get better at the game

I want to get all golden weapons.

However, I wish to hit Grandmaster for the first time and maintain Grandmaster ranking and hit Top 500.

I have been a Masters since Season 10 through 12. I never fell back into Diamonds after hitting Masters in Season 10.

I played comp for a more structured and serious business approach to the game to win, which is the purpose of the game. I wanted to play with people who I thought I could assume were decent at the game and their chosen heroes and play “real” matches.

However I stopped playing comp midway through this season because I was sick of most of those assumptions not holding true. I made it nearly to diamond then started dropping despite healing just as well as I ever did to get me to that SR to begin with. Fell back to 2550. Along the way in that particular slump, I realized the amount of stress and aggravation experienced in comp due to idiocy is just not worth it and making me hate the game completely. I now only do QP and arcade and life is much better, and not caring about my SR anymore leaves time open for me to actually play other games I’m missing out on.

The chances of someone to pick a healer and a tank are little bit higher.

Generally I don’t. I used to play it just for CP (golden gun dollars), but that hasn’t been enough to make me want to do it lately.

Easier games with more coordination. My MMR is around masters and it places me against GM with the occasional top 500. My SR, on the other hand, is mid-plat-ish. It just makes the game more fun while I am grinding for gold guns that I will never use.

I learn more of comp than qp since more people are playing seriously… in qp people are just messing around while practicing new heroes

qp is more of a playground for testing new stuff

I’m honestly not fit for the competitive field, I don’t enjoy putting that over fun.

That said, I do love those shiny guns.

Bliz really should make another method of getting purple points.

u don´t put it over fun, it is fun learning how to play as a team instead of thinking u can win alone

2 reasons.

  1. I like the format of attack/defend or best of 3 maps
  2. I want the golden guns.

Honestly, OP, comp is the only way to get a semblance of a serious game. QP to me is not worth the time, nor is arcade.

At this point, I just like seeing people tilt and complain

Shows your skill and is the only way to improve.

Right now, I have really only been playing to try and unlock the mystery of the SR system. I’ve been recording and tracking my stats.

I don’t play for the number, because the number is garbage and means nothing. I’m basically out to prove it so improvements can be made via community feedback.

This season I’m working on the theory that 6 stacking is bad for climbing and actually hinders your SR. The easiest way for a solo person that isn’t looking to be carried is to use solo q, even while playing off meta.

Otherwise, I would probably stick playing mystery heroes.

If I felt that it was a true competitive mode that actually measured your wins and losses and rated you on your ability to win, I would play more for as a competitive experience and try to be the “best” I could. But since I’m not in diamond and don’t get the luxury of a real competitive mode, I have to find another reason to play.

I want gold weapons for my fav heroes.

I love it because people tryhard so it’s a rush beating them.

People talking too, but that distracts me mostly.

People make it worse and better. I like seeing and hearing people frustrated, but sometimes it stresses me out a little.
