And when you’re talking about genocidal regimes and racism you can make that argument but not when talking a product made for profit looking to provide fun for the majority, a trivial matter in which those who don’t like it, can just fork off.
I can literally compare what I want, when I want, and your opinion means nothing to me.
Like it or not, it was literally perfect. I said “Oh, you think a group of people agreeing makes it right? Well, this group of people agreed on this bad thing. Where they right?”. Its literally a 1 to 1, apples to apples analogy.
The massive defense to offense spawn advantage makes the mode suck.
Then they released heroes that made it even worse, then did like one Band-Aid fix (Ball cooldown on hook from spawn) like it makes a difference anymore.
In the past it was pretty normal for players of online games to just play the same 2 or 3 maps/modes over and over. People know what they like and what they don’t like.
It’s only relatively recently that developers took over and forced players to play all of the maps/modes in rotation.
Tell you what, when we start agreeing on basic violation of human rights instead of a commercial product meant to appease as much people as possible, you will have a great point.
2CP in quick play makes me want to gouge my eyes out and practice some self cannibalism. I do not mind it in competitive where people vaguely understand to walk together. But in QP? Please, just kill me.
I don’t understand what you mean. “Start agreeing on basic violation of human rights”? I agree that human rights were violated in one case and not in another. Does that change the point of “people in groups can still be wrong”?
Hey, its my thread, I’m the only one allowed to use extreme examples here.
Again, this seems less like a 2CP problem, and more like a problem with the player base.
Can most film watchers be wrong for liking a certain movie? Can most ice-cream enjoyers be wrong for liking strawberry?
There is nothing wrong with removing 2CP, because there’s nothing right with it either, it’s not a right or wrong situation. It doesn’t matter how many people agreed on slavery because that is freaking wrong, obviously, but it matters how many people want strawberry ice cream instead of lettuce ice cream because you’re trying to sell ice cream to most people and serving “lettuce ice cream” at random to those who walk into the shop hoping for strawberry.
No, not for liking strawberry or films. But to suggest “a ton of people like it, so it has to be good” is where you can be wrong. Remember, the comment I responded to was
And not simply “a ton of us like it” with no other calls to action after that.
I disagree. Overwatch is starving for content, so there IS something wrong with removing content.
The rest of your comment doesn’t really apply, as it goes over the same thing that I mentioned above. So instead, I’ll ask you a question:
If everyone’s saying they like strawberry ice cream and so the other flavors should be removed, but you’re certain the majority of people saying it are only doing it because a celebrity made liking strawberry ice cream fashionable, do we still remove the other flavors?
Temple of Anubis, Volskaya Industries, Hanamura, Paris (removed), Horizon Lunar Colony (removed).
Yeah, no wonder people don’t like 2CP. I can’t even find one map that I like in that mode. Either the mode itself is bad or the maps are horribly designed. But if I have to pick the one that I hate the least, that would probably be Temple of Anubis.
The second point of 2CP maps are not too bad imo design wise. Especially since there’s multiple paths where you can go in from. But those good aspect of 2CP could easily be replaced with the last point of the escort map and it will make the map 10x more enjoyable. 2CP in general is just too static imo. Too much of standing still and guarding control points, barely any movement or flanking.
Hm. Well, I say you should use the example of a computer game with a flawed, bad game mode that most people don’t like. It’s certainly better than invoking Godwin’s Law.
If you’re starving for food eating, crap doesn’t help it. Overwatch is bad right now, bad, and among the reasons is a mode devs never quite got right.
I can’t be certain what’s in other people’s heads, nor do I want to, don’t give a fork. I am certain 2CP is poorly designed, there’s a myriad of problems from player behavior perspective, map design and rules of the mode. Devs experimented with it over the years but never got anywhere in the end. Same reason Paris and Horizon were removed, we’re just extending the benefit.
Mind you 2CP will be removed, that is known, we just want it now instead of waiting for OW2.
Because in other games, you aren’t locked into a match for 30 minutes+ when you get into one like this game and other games that do do this like CS, let you choose the map so you aren’t locked into a 30min+ match that you will not enjoy.
Not only this but if you play DPS, you not only have to play a role you don’t like to get a ticket to play the role you do like, then you wait 10mins+ for a queue to the role so we are now potentially at 40 min+ just to get into a match with your favourite hero to then get stuck in a mode for 30 minutes you don’t enjoy and now half your night is gone.
We play games to have fun, 2cp isn’t fun. It’s the very worst parts of this game in one god awful gamemode and is the single reason I stopped playing comp.
In other modes, you can make significant progress by just making a few solo plays that stagger out the defending team. Get a few picks they fall back a little or take cover and you push up the payload or take control of the “hill”. But in 2CP, there’s no room for the enemy to fall back on, coupled with a nearby defender spawn for 2nd point, so for attack you have to actively work together to definitively win the 6v6 if you want to make ANY progress (forget about a full cap first try). Realistically, all this means is a heavier focus on teamwork than other modes, but that’s something this community tends to… Not like, particularly when playing with unreliable randoms for teammates.
So instead of working together, the easier solution is just remove the source of the conflict.
I hate that they will remove 2 CP instead of reworking it. If youtubers can manage to suggest possible solutions and fixing a map, why can’t the dev team too? Why remove cool aestheticly pleasing maps instead of properly fixing them?
This not only makes me sad, but it also makes me wonder where’s the creativity and the ideas of this developers. WHERE? Is it left home? Is it non existent?
