Did try to link that (poorly) in the post, I found it funny because it’s so similar to what I think when I see mentions of DB being OP. I think I fear for my own life using DB more than the enemy does theirs
I didn’t actually consider differences in cool down management. A good point.
It can, or it cannot. That isn’t reliable. Why? Slash Dash. If Genji hit anyone with it and then someone dies, he gets it again and will get back in range once again.
Zenyatta can reliably I did forget about this.
Lucio? No, its a buffer. Not reliable. Also he can die upon casting.
Mercy? No.
Ana? No.
Brigitte in the future? Depends when ult was cast to buffer team with armor but she can also stun him yes, this isn’t in comp yet so i’m not counting this at all.
Moira? No.
Look at my point from above where I say to shoot him. Not reliable, if you say this isn’t so again I’d love to be in your games.
If you say so, I’ve tallied playing all seasons to date and nothing has changed in my view. The team without a Genji generally loses to the team that does have one. If both have a Genji, which team gets the better Dragonblade?
Maybe this changes in GM but it sure hasn’t stopped yet in my experience.
If you look at top 500 in comp of any season, generally Tracer and Genji players btw. Must be a reason for Genji to be so prevalent still, especially if people can down him and never allow successful blades? Or perhaps they don’t and you are mistaken.
You are correct and wrong. In most matches when a Genji that is dominating with blade your match lasts 6-10 minutes and he doesn’t need to ult more than 2-3 times. Your team isn’t able to counter him so the match doesn’t last very long. That means 4-12 kills. If both teams are operating with great Genji players the numbers will maintain at this or higher based on game length, and yes it does happen, a lot in my experience. I wish we had career stats show how many times you die from Ultimates. I guarantee you Genji Ult is my #1 leading cause of death, not a riptire, not a Tracer Bomb, not High Noon, not Tactical Visor.
I am using my personal experience based on over 4k games that I have played from QP or comp to explain to you and anyone else this is what happens in the majority of my games with Genji in it. This is not a small sample size, this is fact based on my personal experience. Gold - Master in Competitive.
Higher tier players know when an ultimate can be negated.
Lower tier players can’t always figure that out.
Dva bomb is a great example.
Players with better game sense know they can usually secure a kill on Dva before the ult goes off or she re-mechs.
While players with bad game sense start scrambling the second her ult voiceline starts.
Yes and no, it goes both ways. Sometimes Genji players don’t pay attention if Zenyatta has ulted yet, other times they wait for when Zenyatta uses it then follows up right after. The better Zens will generally wait out Genji unless it’s absolutely necessary, just as the better Genji will wait for Zenyatta to die if he hasn’t ulted yet.
It’s a situational awareness type of thing. Ask yourself this though too, how many times have you seen Zenyatta use his ult only to save himself?
Not every game has a Zenyatta either just like not every game has a team or any team using Genji. Lot of variables intertwined.
Genji is pretty vulnerable while he’s casting his Dragon Blade, and sheating it. If he’s being sneaky about it, there’s not really much room to capitalise on these short windows of vulnerability. That’s just how it is.
you see what you want to see. I was watching the games for a while yesterday and today. A LOT of dragonblades didn’t get more than 1 kill at most.
as for genji, let’s list the things he has to be aware of during blade.
Support ultimates of the enemy.
Mccree flashbang.
Sombra emp and hack
Lucio’s boop.
positioning of the enemies and how low their HP’s are.
nowadays briggete’s stun as well.
junkrat’s spam.
zarya’s shield cd
roadhog’s hook.
and the list goes on.
Any of these things can ruin your blade instantly. So imagine if the enemy has 3 or 4 of these heroes. It’s not as “EASY” as some of you lower level players think.
