Do we really argue now if QP matches should be balanced or not?
Side question: Do any of the people who are saying “No” have played any online game that has not MMR in the quick play mode? Because I have and its mainly fun for very high ranked people. Why? Because they will get a 90% winrate in QP and will do this all day and nothing can stop them. Even if high ranked players are far less than low ranked players, it means that they can do what ever they want and destroy the fun of your casual players.
Casual players might not care about competitive, but they care about that game feels fair and that they can at least do something, even if it results in a loss.
Its absolutely mental, that some people really think that QP does not need balancing. If a GM queues with a bronze player, they will face maybe a silver player and a Master player or some other combination on the other team for example. Its not like its impossible to balance those matches, just that they dont qualify for a competative game.
Show you… but you already are making excuses to wave it off.
As I said, the issue is Blizz has put in competitive style leaver penalties in a mode that doesn’t have competitive style matchmaking. Thus when it’s a masters support with one diamond dps and a plat tank, vs a 3 stack with two T500s, it’s over before the match started, but the short team is committed to just getting deleted over and over again.
Matchmaking is the biggest problem with this game and nothing can be evaluated while it persists.
Because the card says so. Have you actually read it…?
It’s not an issue of balance. It’s an issue of predetermined games that guarantees you a ride on the carousel of EOMM.
I think the game could gain from doing something games like old school games did for halo and cod. Not sure if this is still true. But just make lobbies and players carry over to the next game. Remove leaver penalties. This way players that didn’t feel like the lobby was that bad can stay and the ones who hated it can go. Theoretically you’ll be able to amass players who enjoy the lobby. Rather than forcing complete rng every game.
Now I get why they probably don’t do this. Because less time spent at Home Screen is less time being tempted by that shop. ![]()
“Predetermined games.” Lol.
I’ll be honest, I’m just kind of bored of entertaining that argument. If it helps you cope with losing streaks, you do you my guy.

The first Titanfall game did this and I loved it.
During the wait for players it would automatically switch to match chat, so you could talk to everyone waiting, including people on the other team, then once the lobby was full and the game started, it would switch you to team chat.
Once the game was done, it would automatically queue you up for a rematch, but if you didn’t want to do it, you could just leave with no penalty.
I doubt we’d get full lobby communication for Overwatch. But this also creates lobbies where trash talkers can trash talk each other and the quiet ones can find quiet lobbies. It feels like an everyone wins situation.
Because I’m a casual player, I don’t want to play comp. I just want to play a couple matches and have fun with friends. But when I hop on and playing against a team with lvl 5 drives and I have little Billy playing his second match ever, it kind of makes it unbearable. Why even play if I’m just going to get stomped the second I step out of spawn
exactly.
all of my games includes two little Billy in my games. its legit unbearable. its QP but the Matchmaking is god awful
But just make lobbies and players carry over to the next game.
Overwatch 1 used to do this in fact, as long as no one left, you’d have the same people play again in the next match.
It was pretty common in late night eu qp at least for same bunch of people keep playing each other over a few maps. For payload maps it was especially nice as you got to play ‘both sides’. Even if it was reset in between.
It was before. Only comp was a real match. Many people just practiced heroes never played before and/or just warm up in QP before playing comp. When the match wasn’t their cup of tea, then they just left the game and q again.
But then, there arose sorta people who don’t touch comp and play QP mostly. Also, RQ was introduced and dps/supps should wait a few minutes for a match.
Those people then wanted more quality matches in QP, so they asked a leaver penalty for a long time.
Blizz accepted it and that means QP is no more a liberal playground. It’d be more like a competitive without sr. So, it’s natural people complain about MM.
Because they added leaver penalties as if the mode is to be taken seriously, while the matchmaking is clearly designed for a joke mode where nothing matters
The thing I see is, if the match quality wasn’t so bad, there would’ve been less leavers. But it got so bad that the devs (I assume mostly Jared nuess) tried to make out like leavers were the problem… So they added penalties for leaving an unranked game. But completely ignored the reason why people are leaving in the first place. XD
I’m all for improving match quality. But I do not support leaver penalties for unranked modes. Never. For comp, definitely. Harsh leaver penalties. But not unranked.
exactly. the matchmaking is so bad. that’s why there are leavers.
u constantly get bot teammates or clueless players
its not 1 or 2 matches its all matches.
it is sooo bad
Are you braindamaged?? Its still OW!!! Still somebody will improve, learn something but has no time to start a 2+ rounds of Competitive.
I dont say sou cannt try out new hero (I was also somehow starting) but mate if not working I ll swap! What can my 4 teammates learn when they are stomped at spawn, because some ego Genji is playing him like sniper!
Also QP has the same SR as ranked, but its hidden. Yesterday I witnessed a Zbra QP game, where he alone held whole enemy team back in the spawn!!! How was that fun for them or for him at all???

It failed to tell people this. I learned about it after it was removed. That’s why people left.
I feel like this is actually common in shooters for their quickplay playlists, but I don’t play that many shooters. Gears of War is my main one, and every Gears has been like this in QP.
