Why do players not go directly to bunkered objectives?

Because it is NOT defendable. Bunkers never last in this game. You will see time and time again that the first team to reach the checkpoint almost always LOSES the match. The team that usually wins the match is the one that commands the high ground.

We need to read our Sun Tzu here. Always know where the enemy has to be, and use that to your advantage. In the case of OW Control Maps, that is what I call ‘The Floor’. And in all cases of OW Control Maps the Floor is surrounded by high ground opportunities, and that is what why I call the surrounding area including the Floor as ‘The Fishbowl’. Ever hear of shooting fish in a barrel? That’s what I am going for here.

Pro’s NEVER go straight to the Floor, they understand that they are in a Fishbowl. PRO’s ALWAYS go for the High Ground and secure Kills before touching the Floor. Once you have secured the Kills, you can Touch the Floor and make it your own, but then you MUST get off the Floor in order to defend it. Don’t ever make the mistake of thinking that you can survive on the Floor. When you are on the Floor you are Fish in a Barrel, easy meat for any competent team.

Take the high ground, secure Kills and then touch the Floor, then GET OFF THE FLOOR ASAP. Staying on the floor is BAD, VERY BAD. You might find some comps that can survive being on the Floor better than others, this is true. But trust me, for every comp that can survive on the Floor, there is a MUCH BETTER POSITION that they can take.

Again.

It’s not defendable. It really is not.
