“Why do people want to win games in QP?”
Why can’t we just be losers like the good ol’ days? I don’t know man, doesn’t make any sense.
I play a lot of QP, but I don’t usually go beyond “hey can we get some more attention on their backline” or whatever just so if they are practicing, I can help point out the problem. I never expect someone to listen, much less care in QP. But that’s just me.
Not all teams are built the same lol
even mmos you can play more casually. when i use to play wow i would just level low level alts. that was fun for me, i had like every class in wow and every spec max level.
that was then tho i ended my subscription a year ago… i fall asleep when i play that game now
Comp’s not really much better. Also, the “its quickplay” excuse doesn’t really void any criticism of what happens there, especially the matchmaking. The amount of people that try and excuse it disgusts me.

You’re seeing more and more comp players entering QP, because the comp ranking system has been so janky and broken.

Better question: Why are people NOT taking Quickplay serious? This is a team based game and you are slacking? The goal is to win.

Not just that, the queue time is worse in comp, while the game quality of Unrank Role Queue is just as competitive as Rank, if not sweatier. This has been mention by many GM players how QP is sometimes harder at the higher MMR.
The thing is, OW1 QP was competitive and tryhard as well, if you were playing in a stack. I used to get the best games when in a QP 6 stack. If you wanted a less hardcore experience, you went solo queue.
Now, due to the BP challenges and the poor state of comp, even solo queue QP is hardcore mode.
Quick play is basically Comp Lite.
I mean taking things seriously (at least somewhat) even in qp is part of the objective. If you queue up and say the map is a capture map, the point of the game is to capture the point and hold it. It doesn’t matter if it’s not comp, qp should be played as competitively as possible. Yes it’s a game and should be fun, but there are objectives everyone should work together on. It is a team based game after all. People are competitive by nature.
It doesn’t mean anything if I lose a game in qp, there’s no rank going down, but I do get annoyed if our team is trying to play the objective and our Rein is chasing the Tracer around the map for no reason while we are desperately needing a tank to help us.
I’m not saying people have to go into sweat mode in qp, but at least try to mesh with your team, try to work together to secure the objective.
I also find it really funny when people switch heroes to counter the enemy team, such as switching from Widow to Reaper when the other teams Winston is killing us, and the enemy team come back with “so sweaty!”, like the game is about countering enemy picks to win the match. It’s not being ‘sweaty’, it’s being smart.
There are plenty of game modes that are more geared towards just messing around and having fun without worrying about objectives as much as qp does. The ‘11 kids 1 dad’ (or whatever it’s called) mode is tons of fun to just fool around in.

What I meant about people treating QuickPlay like comp is, They find someone in the team that is doing poorly and single them out and blame the loss on that person.
I had literally 2 more deaths than the other dps and tank, and this ana comes and calls me out for feeding? I was playing to the best of my ability, and she was not getting heals through me with a clear line of sight. It’s like she was deflecting so she did not get called out on her healing.

As I see if QP: Train and get ready for comp. If you want to goof around or just troll/etc, go arcade. I get annoyed if I see people trolling around in QP. “It’s just QP”, No it’s not. It’s a training mode for comp, you don’t have to be the best player in the world but, please, do your best
Quick play is the core game mode for an online competitive shooter, you should be trying to win.
I take umbrage with people queueing for quick play in stacks and treating it like comp.
Nah, QP or comp is the only way to improve actual aim. Widow isn’t going to be the same in something like that.

i imagine it’s because some treat it like a competitive warm up of sorts and others want to get their battle pass xp challenges completed.
there’s never a case where people should be rude (in my opinion, especially in quick play where people learn heroes and presumably want to play more casually), but if it ever reaches a point where someone becomes incredibly toxic, i’ll just block and report them.
The short answer is because quickplay is no longer quickplay, it is unranked.
The long answer is a lot more involved. You can blame matchmaking, you can blame the terrible ranked system Blizzard needlessly added to replace the old system. You can blame f2p, you can blame 5v5, you can blame the absolute god awful balancing that forces people to play what is strong instead of what is fun. You can blame the scoreboard Blizzard added that pits your numbers against the numbers of anyone else in the lobby. The list goes on and on.
You can blame all of the above and you would be right.
