Y’all really do make mountains out of mole hills for everything on these forums. For some of us that have been gaming for decades, we say gg after every game no matter what the outcome is.
I had leavers and lost the game? - gg
They other team had leavers and lost the game? - gg, sorry for your leavers
No leavers and I win or lose? - gg
It’s not that deep. No one is being passive aggressive. No one is even thinking that deep into the win or loss, especially in QP. This is why he have people getting banned/timed out over saying things like “gg” in chat when the match is over when it was nothing more than a gg instead of something actually offensive. Stop thinking that everyone is trying to ego you unless they were otherwise being a dbag.
Oh my god here we go with the clutching of pearls over something so harmless. I say gg almost every game, out of respect of the game. If you read into it past that, maybe get some therapy or turn match chat off.
If a match ends and you’re getting mad at someone saying the most commonly said phrase in games, both real and video games, one that is always said at the end of a game regardless of the outcome, and all they are saying is “good game” and THAT gets you upset or mad, then you might need to just turn off all communications. I’d hate to see the reaction to someone saying “hello” when a match starts
I periodically see the same bodies who write gg only when they win, especially one-sided. I report them. After some time, they become level 1 endorsement and do not write anything anymore. I wonder why?)
Don’t lie dude, people never type gg when they lose or maybe 1% of the time, it’s the most annoying thing ever just don’t say anything it’s better, i will report you if you type gg
What the hell is up with this overabundant and sad fascination with being offended when another player types “GG”?
It means ‘good game’, and typically it comes from a player trying to be sportsmanlike, not rude. If you are here examining this, I have to wonder how actually wounded you are after a losing game and if it is in your best mental interest to continue playing. JFC…
You’re projecting lil bro. Getting mad at someone saying “good game” whether you win or lose is the most kindergarten take I’ve heard come out of the forums.
Especially when it’s over a meaningless game too. So again, if you’re getting mad over the most commonly said saying in the world of games, both irl and video, then you’ve got a lot bigger things to worry about than the game and what people are typing
Because players aren’t looking at it from the standpoint that you lost the game and are being a sore loser about it.
They may just be saying ‘gg’ in the genuine sense of good sportsmanship and some players, even when they lose, don’t take it as some petty, backhanded remark.
Sure, there are players that use ‘gg’ passive aggressively, but if that’s all they say, you don’t know if it’s genuine or taunting, so take the benefit of the doubt that it’s just someone saying it with good sportsmanship, rather than assuming someone is trying to rub your face in the loss.
This is an issue you have with handling a loss. You’re gonna lose a lot of games, not only in OW, but any game you play.
If you go play basketball on a team, even if you lose by 50 points, both teams are gonna line up and give each other fives and say ‘good game’ out of respect for the other players and having good sportsmanship.
Learn to deal with losing in a healthy way.
Even if someone is saying it in a clearly mocking way… you’re probably never gonna see that player again. Who cares.
If we change just simply saying ‘gg’ to being “toxic” and need to change it to “GLHF on next” it will only be a matter of time until someone starts crying that “GLHF on next” is being used in a mocking way after a bad beat and that they don’t need to say anything at all “cause I’m mad about losing and I don’t want to even hear anything from the other team” or whatever.
I get it. When Im on the stomping team (a rare occurrance), I will typically say nothing because I know the enemy team suffered and didnt have a “good game”.
Out of respect, I will typically just say “gg” to my team chat and not to the whole match.
That’s the way you see it. When I say gg as a token of sportsmanship like shaking hands with someone after a game and this is what it has always been. Yes, I’m sure some people use it to tilt or annoy people but I don’t care, I say gg when I win or lose.
Imo, you’re are the problem. If people didn’t act like a bad loser getting mad when someone says gg when they had a bad game people wouldn’t use gg to troll because they wouldn’t get there reaction.
Either way, YOU make a presumption that makes YOU mad when you have 0 idea of intent. The fix is easy stop presuming the worst of people or don’t care because trust me it doesn’t matter if people stopped because you’d still be presuming the worst about something else.
You see gg and think …
and you want me to type GLHF next time because YOU jump to conclusions…
ok I think your making fun of favorite show with your username so you’ll need to change it… I don’t care about your intent because this is my presumption and I’m ok with asking people to change because I don’t want to stop and think for a second that maybe you aren’t doing that to make fun of my fav show. This is how bad your argument is.
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=gg+meaning
" GG is an acronym that means “good game ,” and is usually said at the end of online multiplayer games. Saying GG at the end of games is considered good sportsmanship, and in some games, can even earn you rewards."
You can literally go onto urban dictionary and see usually a good game meaning, but at the same time listed as derogatory or negative meaning.
GG has been overused. Its become a very lazy phrase to use without any thought. Its effectively lost its meaning and really any sincerity from users. Its been marred by phrases like gg ez users from bad actors.
I implore anyone who actually wants to be sportsman about stuff to actually avoid using gg altogether or at the very least have the common sense to understand the context of the match and autopiloting gg enterkey the moment a match ends. If it was a steamroll actually put some thought into one’s own original response at the end of a game.
