Why do people refuse to report someone when you tell them that someone is throwing?

I literally just had a competitive game where our Widowmaker did crappy. At first I didn’t mind since I thought they were doing their best and just having a rough day. Then they said next round after we got steamrolled “Now I have to actually play.” Then later on said “Trolling. It’s fun.” I told the other team to report the troller. They said they wouldn’t because I was just a sore loser. Then the guy who was trolling openly admits he wants to drop SR. Still the enemy team says “Your proof?” The troll literally says it in match chat??? Very salty right now and really want to be in diamond (gold and I deserve it), just to not get new players (separate issue).

maybe cos the report system doesnt really do anything …it takes more than just a few people reporting him to get actioned and its not like hes gonna get banned or kicked from the game. just silenced.

If everyone had this mindset, no punishments would ever be dished out.

An analogy would be a someone asking a crowd for a pencil and you assume the next person is going to give it, and you don’t have to do it.

Stop spreading this nonsense.

Dont use the report system it is trash. Players only get banned / silenced if they get like 100 Reports ( mostly happend to Off-Meta One-Tricks ). And when some1 get banned / silenced it is just for like 2 days.

I know a Torb One-Trick who got silenced for like 3 times ( he didnt deserve it becaue he is already good whit torb ) because his Teammates instant reports him for picking Torb

The Report-System is automated and didnt work right. U can get banned for everything u also can get banned for not saying " Hello " lol

Dont waste ur time whit this stupid Report-System

Troller probably took the shield of “making fun of the toxic one”.
You know… appear like they were sarcastically agreeing and the enemy thought just that. Just avoid him as Teammate, Report him … maybe he’ll get punished if that’s actually his normal mindset and live on.

I got reported in a Mystery heroes game the other day… I killed an invisible low health Sombra running by me as Winston. The guy went out of his way to message me (through PSN) to tell me he reported me and to trash talk as well. He even went so far as to teabags me whenever I died. Too many toxic people these days.

I’m not going to report someone because someone tells me to. However I have seen enemy players throw. If I see someone on the other team spamming “hello” and not shooting/using-abilities the whole game is kind of noticeable. If someone says “[Blank] is throwing report plz” I wont do it (I don’t know if they are, they might be just getting bullied)… I’m more liable to report the guy repeatedly telling me to report someone else.

Even if the person clearly just admits they are throwing and trolling?

That’ll happen sometimes. But even if the other team doesn’t report them, you should, and I’m sure your other teammates did too.

The problem with the claims of “X is throwing” is how easy it is to just say. I’ve been called a thrower when I was playing my main and kept dying to flankers, and wasn’t getting any help. If that player had gone over the match chat and told the enemy I was throwing, I might have been reported for something I didn’t even do. You can’t always trust the word of others, unfortunately.

This is what happens when the developers doesn’t show that much care towards the community. Sure they talk big about how important it is and all, but in reality they’re not doing half of what they should be doing, and it now starts showing up since people know that in most cases, bad behaviour isn’t punished.

anyone actioned that ive seen has been one tricks that got reported and i dont see how that shows a fair system. its so trash, that if everyone reported you for only ever saying “hello” … you would be silenced and support wont do anything about it once you were actioned.

i dont report as it does nothing. like i said, maybe a silencing… maybe not. even silenced the widow can still throw and theres nothing to stop him/her …

a better analogy is that the report system is trash. whether you agree with that or not, its not nonsense. its the truth …

I usually ignore people that tell me to report someone, only because I’d decide for myself if they deserve a report or not. Likewise if I find an “ill-mannered” player, I’d report them but let everyone else report if they want to without any persuasions.

If I see they’re throwing? Yes.

If someone tells me to report them? Hell no.

If someone says they’re throwing (Like "Oh yeah… Right… I’m throwing) but I don’t see them throwing? No, not unless I see them throwing. It could be a fight between them and someone bullying them (maybe you), and they’re just being sarcastic. Even if it’s someone on the other team and you’re not paying attention, you can tell if they’re throwing.

There’s no reason to report someone just because someone told you to. Also when you do you’re just making the problem worse; false reports, overloading reports, and the whole reporting someone “because someone told me to” isn’t a valid reason to report.

I will never report a person if told to, EVER. I personally need to see if that person is throwing or cheating.

Even if they admit to it, it’s hard to tell if they are being sarcastic or not.

Person: Hey Bob is throwing, please report them.
Bob: Yeah I’m throwing, report me.

hearsay isn’t admissable evidence in a court of law?

you get banned after a while, but it takes a really long time and being as familiar as i am with blizzard’s disicplinary system, i have to say that i find it quite lacking.

haven’t played LoL in a year, logged in today and got hit with a notification saying I am being placed in a lower priority queue for afking/leaving games a year ago. it’s not actually a lower priority queue… you just have to wait 10 minutes to actually queue. This would probably be hell for GM/T500 players and would directly reduce the number of games lower ELO players could participate in instead of just silencing them or suspending them for 3 days lmao

Overwatch has nothing like that to dissuade players from playing because it wasn’t made and isn’t played by competitive people.

Probably because 90% of the people calling out someone being a thrower are just salty online generals screaming commands at everyone.

I don’t report on command. Very often I see the blamed people behaving better than the complainers and in the end being less of a problem for the team, too.
Unless they are actually legitimately sabotaging the game, I am not reporting anyone just because some told me to do it.

I know I don’t want to be in such situation when I am blamed for throwing by some whiny idiot who’s just not in a good mood. It happened several times, which is weird - I don’t throw, I always try my best.:unamused:

If they clearly say in the match chat though that they are throwing and trying to lose SR then would you?

This is a game where a significant chunk of people will report and attempt to persuade others to report over a pick in spawn at the beginning of the match.

No one should be reporting because “I said so”.

No. I see people say stuff like that all the time, yet they are dominating compared to everyone else. I MUST SEE THE THROW TO REPORT IT.
