Why do people play so many heroes?

You are confused about the source of my discouragement though, it’s not the players, it’s the matchmaking itself. It shouldn’t really be putting me with players like that. As a dps player, you do not have that kind of influence over the outcome of the match.

It would be one thing if I was only observing the progression and drawing my conclusions from that, but in terms of KDR, stats, and approach to the game, I am better than the people I am being matched with generally speaking. There are outliers, and most often they are people who are more progressed than me that are specialized in more valuable heroes. Yes, this is anecdotal, but it makes sense that this is my experience. You don’t have to take my word for it and I’m not really concerned with proving anything, but the matchmaking is the frustration, not the players.

The “literally impossible to develop game sense” angle comes from people’s focus and learning capacity being directed toward the basics of each hero as they continue to try to learn every hero rather than having that established so they can focus on the game itself rather than where they should be putting junkrat mines or mei walls. If you already know the hero interactions and how to play them, the majority of your focus goes toward developing game sense. If people are changing it up constantly it’s going to be a very long time until they are able to purely focus on game sense.

For sure, but the majority of people are just bad at the game because their approach to learning the game is bad.
