it hasnt been all that long since we last played 6v6, and we played 6v6 for far longer than we have 5v5

I agree with the rose tinted glasses. 6v6 was not as fun as ppl make it out to be back then double shield all the time with sym turrets

Doesn’t matter. 6v6 and 5v5, the game still will be aggravating.

This will get debunked as soon as 6v6 playtests come into game.

10v10 no limits 5 char

Bro you are based as cass mains ( totally not biased)

I would only use 1 word : Nostalgia.

Its like the spiderman meme :
She asks “Tell me the truth, I can handle it
and then he says: “Going back to 6v6 won’t bring OW1 launch era, balance or hype
and then she cries.

again, we played 6v6 not all that long ago…and we played it for a LOT longer than we have played the current 5v5 pay to win game we now have

so no

fun is subjective

you personally may not have found 6v6 to be more fun that 5v5 but I and many others absolutely do

I remember on these forums long long ago during the content drought when blizz didn’t fix double shield and people were constantly complaining.

I mean all these forums do is complain anyways but I’m just saying. Many people say they want it back until they do and people complain about it then. Maybe with all the reworks it’ll be different but they would need to heavily tune the tanks down

The only reason there was a content drought at all is because Blizzard shifted their efforts to create the current pay to win 5v5 game.

Things would have been much better in 6v6 at the end had this not occurred. Things would have been more like the early to middle times in 6v6, which were imo M U C H better than anything weve seen from 5v5

I remember season 1 of 5v5 having a relatively balanced MM but then they widened the MM since queue times were reaching 10 minutes end of season. I’m sure the solo tank also has a part in this but I think it’s more to them constantly widening the pool.

OW1 by comparison was extremely strict when smurfs weren’t messing with it.

I know why the content drought happened. Imo double shield 6v6 and goats all the metas are arguably worst or equal to everything in ow2 5v5

The tank role is why I hate 5v5. Period. All roles should be made equal. I absolutely despise the idea of having 1 person carry more weight and have their characters be stronger than the other on the same team. The best way to play 5v5 I find is still to ignore the godzilla and kill his team, and hope godzilla doesn’t target you specifically.

And besides, when you’ve seen tank face each other in 6v6, especially anything involving Rein, vs today when there’s Reins in a match, you can see the complete devolution. It used to feel intricate, now its just 2 godzillas running amok. Its absolutely pathetic how dumbed down 5v5 feels when you’ve played 6v6.

I think MM felt better on season 1 specifically because veteran players and new players weren’t heavily mixed yet.

The new player pool was largely split in order to protect new players.

But now they are intermingled and despite ranking equivalent to veterans, they still don’t understand the fundamentals as well as us.

Double shield was not played as much as people like to claim

GOATS was a problem in OWL, not so much in the game per se

I find that 5v5 as a whole is far worse than 6v6

GOATS was a huge problem in ranked. Everyone and their mom switched to it the moment things went wrong, you always had people who didn’t want to do it, but the moment anyone did, it sucked the fun out of the match as absolutely NOTHING could even play against it.

It took me way over a year before every game had entire teams switch to GOATS, and only in the last set of patches (which lasted for a long time when OW1 stopped getting updates) did the balance reach a point where stacking tanks stopped being oppressive in open queue.

Double shields were also not a problem in the last 6 months of the game’s life. Orisa was still annoying to pair with a sigma but shields melted -FAST- at that point.

To answer this question, you have to had played OW1, which was 6v6.

The simple answer is its more fun with more players and 6v6 seems to be the sweetspot! :ok_hand::sunglasses:

Few players even knew what GOATS was at the time, and very very few of those folks had the communication and/or coordination to pull it off.

Nothing?

Aside from the fact that this was barely played in the game per se, it wasnt always a winner. Certain 141 combinations were very effective against it, for one
