Are you the only person in the lobby that should have impact?
Do you think the enemy team is designed to make your experience better and to suck up to your hero pick?

hereos shouldn’t be able to completely invalidate each other, this is not Pokemon, we don’t need to be playing Musical Chairs and swap all game
Because most of the playerbase doesn’t want to actually learn to play around hard counters.
We were promised by the old devs that counterswap isn’t necessary but an option. Right now counterswap is everywhere and it just beats you completely.
By the end of Overwatch 1 I feel like you could play whatever hero you wanted and the counters weren’t so hard. Overwatch 2 has much harder counters. Trying to “play around” your hard counters is akin to throwing most times.
Because the skill of the player shouldn’t be invalidated by the enemy picking another hero.
It is not that much of a problem. You can play DVa into Zarya for example.
You just can’t faceroll as much as you usually do against other tanks.
It’s because it’s hyper focused around the tank. I can walk into a match with no counters and by the end there’s at least 3 counters sometimes more.
When the entire enemy team is counter picking you, that’s just not fun.
And while it’s worse on some tanks than others, it literally happens to me on any tank I play.
I sure love playing Dva (the only tank I like), and as soon as I start dunking on enemy tank, the bad kid goes for the desperation Zarya switch. Every damn time. I enjoy it. And it thrills me double when the whole team has the same counter switching starter kit, and they bust out a Sym and Mei too.
Oh, but im not supposed to say anything otherwise im malding. Probably balding too.
Counter picking really holds this game back and was a bad idea in general. Switching isn’t even a skill over actual having skill on a character.
I don’t know why people like counterpicking so much they need to take offense when people don’t like it.
Taking turns with the disproportionately advantaged character-pick isn’t really what I would call “strategic”. But most counters really aren’t as bad as they’re made out to be; and sometimes so-called counters are the most enjoyable matchups in the game (Queen V. Zarya imo.)
Because they don’t play enough heroes to adapt when countered. I’m wearing the Shapeshifter (Mystery Heroes) title. If someone tries to counter me, I can switch all day and not lose anything but ult charge. Being good with many tools is part of the fun.
The number of “hard counters” is extremely low in this game I think people are more upset about stacking soft counters to deny you from hard carrying matches. People will run the most insane comps that don’t do anything but try to kill 1 person.
I mean that is annoying but if one enemy is hard carrying their team it’s likely that the opposing team will try to counter the best performing enemy.
It’s a double edged sword if they’re getting off their mains to try denying you value and hard focusing you while you’re still relatively effective it opens up the game for your team.
Do you feel the same way about Kiriko nullifying Ana and Junker Queen
There was a league (or similar) game that was streamed that had both tanks sitting in spawn swapping for half the match. They were waiting to see if the other would commit before leaving spawn.
This is the endgame of swapping.
Devs just never think outside the box enough. At least in comp they should restrict swapping until above a certain amount of ult charge (50% or something) to force careful choices.
Yeah that’s the thing, they may go beams for example to deny D.va but then one of the enemy DPS can capitalize off it and go Pharah.
Honestly i agree with you.
Counter picking is part of the game. Its a core feature not a bug. You’re supposed to play a diverse cast of heroes in your role so you can swap as needed to the situation. Thats optimal play.
I understand the frustration especially as tank. Since you feel obligated and forced into swapping. And thats lame. but it is part of the game after all. So i dunno , necessary evil for the game i guess?
No but I’d also like to be able to play my favorite characters in peace without feeling like if I don’t, I’ll lose.
I’m tired of my tanks yelling at me to swap to Kiriko because the enemy Ana won’t let them play the game, as broken as tanks are rn.
