Why do people get so defensive over quickplay?

Whenever I have a run of bad luck on competitive or I just have a bad day I like to put my headphones on stick a playlist of my favorite game soundtracks and go play some quickplay to relax. But no It’s always “FFS 4DPS AGAIN” or “Atleast TRY to get a proper team comp.”

Can I not just enjoy a chill game of quickplay without people getting triggered at me.

Some people in this community are a damn joke…

Because they want to enjoy the game too.

Some/most people are definitely more inflexible and… vocal… than I am, but even I must admit that it’s pretty annoying getting obviously awful team compositions repeatedly in a mode where players can choose not to.

I, too, would like to enjoy a game of QP now and then, but it’s not particularly enjoyable to spend 4 minutes getting crushed so hard that we never even get to try doing anything fun.

And you can’t relax in the arcade?

I’ve just accepted that QP is usually messy comps and treat that as a challenge. If I can solo heal for 5 dps and we win thats pretty cool right? No point in being upset about it even if it is super annoying sometimes

Some people only play QP so for them it is the game. If you’re used to playing comp then you might see QP as a fun mode and not take it so seriously hence the conflict.

Sort of true. Generally I like to have something even close to a comp simply because if they do you most likely are not going to enjoy the match for long or not enjoy it at all. One thing I also learned is you just accept what you get because people will not respond well to suggestions in Quick Play.

Pretty much this.

If QP isn’t meant as a practice mode to get better, what is?

I mean I’m to the point now where I’ll let a team play 4 DPS just so I can see them really struggle for a bit and look completely broken.

One game I had 4 DPS on attack on Rialto, and after 2-3 minutes my Doomfist player, who wasn’t really doing much anyway, decided his best option was to jump in the waters over and over again. Think I counted like 6 times.

I don’t mind it anymore. I’ll fail the match miserably with everyone else. As long as I get to see the weird, desperate stuff some of you guys do.

If you want to take the game seriously theres comp. Trying to move that mentality to QP is on the people confused about what mode they’re playing

Yep l definitely get that

But QP isn’t even really the full game, in most cases you either just defend or just attack.

If QP had comp rules without the sr gain, maybe people would take it more serious, but l doubt it, win or lose it dosnt matter there is nothing to gain.

People only whine about a team comp in QP when it’s clearly, like really clearly, not working at all. I’ve seen entire rounds of KOTH pass with a 4DPS team and I have golds, as Lucio with like 4. So 4 DPS could not combine their range and firepower and kill 5 players?

It’s widowmaker/ashe/hanzo on junkertown attack vs a team with no shields, so free shots for days but the payload never moves.

It’s the Overwatch version of playing pick up hoop at the gym with a guy who only shoots 1/2 court every time he gets the ball. I don’t expect the 60 year old ex-CPA to 360 dunk on anyone but at the same time I don’t accept kicking the ball or throwing up 1/2 court shots all game either.
It’s ruins the game for the other players, win or lose.

Right. I must have missed the part where theres a quickplay option in the arcade too.

My bad.

And who’s fault is that? I play QP to win YES by all means. But I don’t force myself to “X” hero or bend to the will of everyone else.

Thats what I play comp for. I’ve flexed for 15 seasons and where am I? Plat. The exact same spot I’ve been for 15 seasons. That doesn’t stop me tryharding to get higher.

But when I play QP I expect to be able to just enjoy whatever hero I want. Provided I still try to win ( Which I do ).

Thats gameplay sabotage and is a reportable offense.

THANK YOU!

Sorry but I doubt that greatly. Lets look at how serious people took off season.

… They didn’t. Nobody cared about off season.

I already knew what it was. It wasn’t just sabotage either.

He gave up and had no intentions pf playing any further.

Thats the stuff I want to see when I play in 4 DPS teams

Because people don’t like having their time wasted. If nothing gets done and they’re in a frustrating match with obnoxious teammates or an enemy team that’s curbstomping them, it’s hard for some people to have fun.
I play this game as casually as possible but even I can get annoyed when a match is just lopsided.

quick play goats smh

All I ask is that you don’t play like a bot

Some people take it too seriously. You’re free to not take those people too seriously.

It’s quite simple: Overwatch was always built as a competetively played game, Small teams, heavy reliance on Teamwork and coordination… Yes, there is a competetive mode now but when the game launched there wasn’t… this makes the intended Purpose of Quick Play to play the game as it is intended, Working together, trying to win.
In the Accepted Competetive mode a propper Teamcomp is already considered to not include 4-5 DPS comps, and Quick Play is simply an Unofficial Competetive mode. Yet, people don’t care about winning as much, or if they ruin the game for the people who want to play properly WITHOUT risking a rank they worked for because someone insists on using a strategy that doesn’t work out. For reasons like that I’m 100% in favor of 2/2/2, when it comes to Also include the Regular Quick play mode and move the current model into the Arcade.
Speaking of which… Modes to mess around and “relax” can be found in the Arcade already

Because for some unknown reason, overwatch seems to be the only game that some people like you don’t even try to win if it’s not ranked. I mean if you play csgo, dota, etc. Would you intentionally give yourself a significant disadvantage and play worse for more fun?

So why exactly should you giving a disadvantage to your team be Fun for others? now in quickplay, i don’t mind weird comps. But when your enemy’s playing a solid comp, the least you can do is to properly play as well. You see a pharahmercy? You might want to stop playing mei genji as dps duo and pick a hitscan. and so on. dying over and over again and then losing isn’t fun for a lot of people.

i dont really mind what people play. however, i would like people to have some common sense in their decisions to go 5 dps, or 4 snipers against a much better comp.

practice for what ? being a better sniper when your team already has 2 others who will pick off targets before you can ? or trying to not die easily being the 5th dps since there is only one healer who is struggling to heal all 5 players ??

im not bashing anyone’s decision to play what they want, but like i said, all i’d like is some common sense in hero picks …
