Yep - same problem. Someone in the design team must have Hanzo as their Waifu, probably Geoff Goodman.
She needs her last change reverted no doubt, or some compensating buff.
She’s been struggling more or less since goats at the higher ranks. Double shield always been better than rush in 2-2-2 besides for the few months where dva had 3 second flight, and rein got buffed so that was played instead. Even then during that rush variant she was swapped for dva.
The only comp she’s been any good in in the past 2 years (more or less) has been double bubble with Winston, and that’s just the strength of bubble negating cc- not really Zarya doing anything. She’s more of a support in double bubble anyway lmao.
Hitting an underperforming hero with consecutive nerfs because she’s FORCED every game in plat and below was quite questionable. Perfect example of why we shouldn’t balance for low ranks. People cried for Zarya nerfs (despite her not being that good) and after receiving them and mostly killing the hero those same people are like “still op still played in my elo”. Bruh the heroes are played in your elo regardless of how bad they are. Ana and rein and Lucio fall into the same category. Regardless of how bad they are they are always played in low ranks because they are fun, and they are comfort picks.
If their goal was to address her value in double bubble they just had to nerf Ana’s nano heal % and it wouldn’t be as viable to have monkey int to make space.

apparently her ow2 rework makes her somehow worse too (Atleast, from what i’ve seen as we speak. Could change down the line though)
I wish they’d just address double shield by locking out a shield tank once one is selected or guttering sigma into the ground. Coulda saved themselves a lot of reworking and rebalancing for 5v5. Not to mention that most of the community doesn’t want it because we have so little faith in the past 5 years of balancing that they can get 5v5 right.

Also like - you can just WAIT and shoot her in a few seconds and NOT charge her bubble. I can’t tell you how often I see high tier streamers shooting the Zarya bubble and charging her up, thus making her look far more powerful than she is in most of my games - but when I play her, or when I play against her, and she pops bubble? I just… stop… shooting her… until it’s over, and then bam she’s dead and has no charge. Problem solved.
She literally needs a Rein to cover the slack so that she can be ‘good’, and she’s only good if the enemy lets her be with their own poor choices, really.
The fact that they nerfed Zarya instead of Sigma or even D.va is beyond me.

The only reason these new heroes seem to “do more” is because everybody dismisses their weaknesses and exaggerates their kits to such an extent.
Based on forum descriptions of heroes:
You’d think Brig was a hypermobile sniper.
You’d think Sigma has 500 armour health and infinite close range defenses.
You’d think Ana moved at the speed of sound and her nade had a 5 billion meter splash radius to activate every bit of value it could ever have
Even BAPTISTE has limitations. His arcing projectile limits his long range healing potential (especially with the direct hits taking emphasis) especially when his Primary has fall-off.
These heroes have limits and they have weaknesses. But for some reason whenever they’re strong these weaknesses don’t exist. Even now when these weaknesses and limitations are more prevalent than ever before, these heroes somehow “do it all”.

If Zarya is so weak, feel free to stop playing her. But as you can see from Overbuff, nobody has stopped.
This post reeks of “why even bother playing dps? its the weakest role”.
I think the funny thing is that reins still being played, zaryas just being replaced in average matches lol. Looks like zarya wasnt the problem in average matches after all.

300 hours on her and she used to be my favourite tank. With aim assist on console gone and double nerf she’s just trash imo.

A competent Rein/Zarya will take you to masters. I don’t see the issue. If you aren’t cycling with Rein, you will struggle to get the charge you are used to getting which means you might not be the best off tank pick for that match. My guess is a GM zarya, would still wreck the lower ranks regardless, so I am not sure it’s the hero herself.

Look the devs have always said that their focus is on DPS. So when it comes to fun, engaging, and impactful play… The devs care more about giving that to the DPS. Since there are so many of them. Also if it wasn’t clear by how they treat the tank role, i.e. making it so only one player per team is in the role, they have no intention of making them more fun and engaging. 5v5 is just the beginning of the slow and inevitable death of the tank role.

True but right before they nerfed her she was performing her strongest since role queue, she was only 4th but still, since then Dva has pretty much dominated tank picks excessively

yeah i’ve had to really utilize M2+jump to actually make her competitive with other tanks. gotta take the highground and do wacky positions.
