Why devs dont communite with "US" part 300

Everyone knows they balance around OWL my dude. What people are complaining is that they change the game NOT for balance (as they should), but for forcing Metas on OWL that gets them more viewers.

Most recent example: Giving Genji, an already viable but situational hero FOUR straight buffs in a single patch to force him to be a must pick. They knew it wasn’t balanced when they put it on live, everyone else knew it as well, but they wanted all those flashy nanoblade highlights. Only when they got repetitive they brought him back down.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. They really don’t care about getting a balanced game where every character has room to shine, they just take turns to whatever is OP at the moment to make the illusion that the game is not repetitive.

You do realize that saying “but all feedback is important” after admitting they really only care about OWL and other “top levels of play”, is nothing but empty words, right? If all feedback was important, they wouldn’t only balance the game around the minority of players. The fact they admit to only balancing for the 1%, who really have no idea what they’re talking about (and don’t give me that “BuT ThEy’Re ThE BeSt” crap, this is a team based game, your solo rank doesn’t mean crap) and only want to make the game easier for themselves, is proof they don’t give a single crap about any other feedback given about the game. They are balancing this game wrong, and until they fix their naive and destructive line of thinking in regards to balance, it will continue to fail.

So, because Jeff says they listen to everyone that means he’s being honest and they do? Are there any actual examples to use other than Jeff’s words?

Not hating on you but he’s full of it.

those 2 quotes are contradictory, they’re not trying to balance around gm or masters, if they’re trying to balance and change metas for play offs then what they’re actually doing is treating the game like a show… and not a game… balancing the game to what they will think is more fun for people to watch rather than play.

There have been discords for higher players, masters, grandmasters and pros, this discord very quickly died when the participants quickly learned that it was all a front and they didnt use it at all, theres evidence absolutely everywhere that they very poorly manage the game.

For example Genji, give him 3 buffs in 1 patch, ignore the endless waves of negative feedback, go through with it anyway, everyones crying about it for over a month then they revert the 2 changes that he actually needed and kept the one that everyone was asking to get rid of.

Echo, a very very poorly designed character, in a game completely based on abilities and ults this character can choose from 6, get out completely safe and use more than 1 of said ult, trust me if hitscan weren’t so dominant atm Echo would be a real problem.

Characters like Brig, Bastion, Doomfist, Sombra just dont work
our little tank healer has been a massive issue since day 1
Doomfist is this big obnoxious melee character who wouldnt even be viable if it wasnt for his endless amount of unintended mechanics.
in a game completely based on abilites a character that can enter and exit completely safely and only fights you by stopping you from playing the game and using your abilites? who thought that was a good idea?
they need to be more lenient to make actual changes, in a roster they already cant handle they keep adding new characters that’re almost always a problem and are very slow to make any changes and they’re rarely changes that are needed as the character designs just dont work, for example if Bastion was brought out today he’d have a shield and he’d be keeping it, wouldn’t be going anywhere, get what i mean?

there’s evidence everywhere that shows how out of touch the company is, i mean dude they overwork and underpay their own employees, they milk the game for every bit of cash they can make.

infact i’d rather they actually balance around pros and league, that way things like hitboxes wouldnt have to be so broken making the game easier for new players.

Whether they intended to or not, that’s what happened when they applied the Genji buffs during the summer showdown post-season. The patches completely made the power rankings irrelevant, and made all teams with the best Genjis dark horses to win the tournament – and they did.

I can’t really take OWL seriously the way I did when OGN had the best Overwatch professional matches before OWL even existed. OWL feels like a show, there are times when they don’t take the game and matches seriously – there was even a time Blizzard made cats determine hero bans for professional matches. How can I take this game seriously when its premiere esport tournament does that?

Yea but you have to see why they are re balancing things. They are rebalancing because the owl shield meta is starting to get repetitive. Not because shields are overpowered.

Instead of giving teams the ability to pick/ban heros Blizzard wants to force changes by deleting heros with their nerfs.

I disagree with their nerfs on the principle that heros should be nerfed only when they are overpowered. Not just because there is a meta.

What did you expect Jeff to say - “Sorry guys, we only care about our cash cow the OWL, you guys on the ladder are irrelevant”? It’s basic PR to say some trite meaningless statement like “We listen to everyone’s feedback”.

Also reddit has a EXTREME downvote system , so if your post survives it’s probably good.

so it’s easy for feedback

If my experience is ill-formed, I’d actually feel more comfortable that the randomness involved in my (mis)conceptions doesn’t have an impact on the game’s balancing. It at least gives me something understandable and cohesive to reach, provided I’m willing to learn.

I’d rather have a firm goal to aim for than for the rubble I’m standing on, and increasingly getting clear from, as I progress up the ranks be made ubiquitous just so I could feel like I have a more solid footing in the game.

But when the community calls for something it’s determined by the current game environment, when people called for certain things such as Ana to have wall climb it might have worked at the time. Doesn’t mean it’s necessarily misguided. Also pretty sure that was Pre-Owl

Ana having wall climp was something that happened in 2018 a year well in the OWL

ht tps://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/ana-wall-climb/52123

Ya you are right that it was something from that point of the meta, but imagine Ana having some sort of jump or wall climb instead of the Healing nano.

Were she basically skip over shields to nade or sleep whatever she wants.

Also would Baptiste still have his jump? as blizz don’t like to overlap mechanics like that.

That’s my mistake then but I think there was some Ana mobility talk in 2017 as well

I mean if it would have been that much of an issue they would just revert or change it like many other ability’s and yes he probably would still have his jump, where do you get they don’t like overlapping mechanics? They have both Genji and Hanzo have wall climb, multiple stuns, etc…

Overwatch reverting a major mechanic that fundamentally changes a hero, as it allows them to do things they couldn’t otherwise.

Is not something I would think the devs be up to, Unless of course were talking about sym.

Especially back in 2018, where the thought of reverting an OP Buff took nearly a year to work out.

Also imagine first point of nepal where everyone pushes on to the flank, where theirs a big wall on the side. Wall climp ana could easily use that wall to get an angle on to the enemy team. Thus allowing her to nade the entire enemy team or put their support to sleep.

Taking that away from here after giving players that utility would have been one hell of a back lash. Not to mention the fact that this would have been in place for months if not longer.

Which is why such a thing wouldn’t have been good for her in the first place.

sure ya Genju and hanzo are balanced around that tool, but ana No.

Yes the brothers both have wall climb, but outside of that you will never see a second hero have a flash bang, Mei wall, Halt, Shield bash, etc, etc.

Yes multiple abilites sheild and stun, but all of them do so in unique ways completely personal to the hero in question.

So no they don’t like copying abilities onto other heroes.

“WHY DEVS DONT COMMUNITE WITH “US” PART 300”

I have to say I wouldn’t want to communicate with the United States right now either. They are trying to be very isolationist right now.

No only the fat orange that thinks injecting bleach into your lunges is a good idea, is at the moment.

The issue is their are very loud people that think he is intelligent for some reason.

I mean… this comes as no surprise. The game should be balanced in a place filled with more consistency.

If the devs balance for any level other than the level you play at, it’s the wrong level to balance at and they’re incompetent for not agreeing.

I can name one: at one point, Sombra because viable enough that she could be used in pro scrims, and the pros finally figured out that Sombra’s hack could counter Tracer (and hopefully pressure her to swap).

The pros immediately started complaining that they shouldn’t be forced to swap off tracer for any reason.

Within a week, Sombra got nerfed.

The devs didn’t even do a PTR, they just pushed a Sombra nerf straight to live that made it hella buggy (again) and lets Tracer break out of hack’s cast with blink.

He gave it to reddit.

indeed

Preferential access and selectivity needs to go. This is 2020, and all skills matter.

No more closed-door, inner-sanctum private discords. No more content-creator only spoilers/previews and inside scoops. No more schmuck NDA playtests for the 1% without inviting actual randoms. You’re either on the payroll or you’re not.

Be transparent and support the official channels or the DJ3000 gets ur jobs.
