They don’t care. Why would they? It’s also not even really a matchmaker problem. It’s 5v5 that is the problem.

Match design requires EFFORT and it requires money.
The game no longer collects money from people that create accounts, and the game has the worst business model in the gaming industry. Which is by using stupid things like “battlepasses” and “free 2 play” thinking that everyone that gets an account will magically buy skins because they look kewl.
I fully 100% agree Match making in this game is Pure TRASH. Hence why they put in Leaver Penalties, because they want people to put up with the bs match-ups otherwise people would just leave and find new matches, since they do not want to try and make a system work.
A good system could easily be built on:
- Latency as priority # 1.
- Player reputation History # 2
- Player skill level # 3
- System Type and power #4
and get amazing matches just off of this stuff.
But it seams like they want to ignore player QUALITY and Player skill ratings over Group Sizes and types. With groups being favored #1.
Which is poor quality workmanship and why matches come off as “Trash”.

Because 5v5 will always feel worse due to one player having that much of the influence in the match, even if it doesn’t feel like it for them. It’s a DESIGN FAILURE.

It was bad in the 6v6 days, it has not improved in the 5v5 day. It is not the format, it is the programmers behind the format.
The matchmaker is working as intended, it’s just that the intention of the matchmaker is not what you think it should be.
The team is far more concerned with Timmy occasionally getting PotG and buying cosmetics, than in making a fair and even match-up.
We would be far better off playing matches in custom games, where the players can balance the teams on the fly and immediately ban the cheaters and trolls without relying on the report and avoid systems.
