Unfortunately I don’t have the money for a better monitor and pc, I’m poor right now. But keep in mind I have at least 60fps in game, the recording doesn’t reflect 60fps though due to XSplit’s requirement for premium to do that. And top level hitscan players don’t play on the highest settings? I always thought pros would strive for the highest settings and such, at least as high as you can without it impacting performance. My gpu is 1660 and I don’t feel the Ultra setting really impacts the game negatively much.
Top level players play on lowest/medium settings at most so they can get the most fps in that game which gives them the least input lag. The less input lag there is, the faster response you will get. Thus, you can click when you see the target and it will register. Even if it’s just one frame delayed, that could mean a hs or miss since a lot of the characters have very small hitbox.
From both of your videos, it’s very possible that you are limited by your hardware. There is only so much you can do if you can’t see the accurate position of the target.
What helps me with my flicks is, i don’t even try to nail the shot. I basically just guess.
Did it in osu! Where 1 miss can be fatal but you don’t have to be as crazy accurate as in ow with widow. I even use different aim styles in both games.
But it teached me to trust in my mouse movements and just time the click moment.
You only have to be a short moment on the enemy and click at the right time.
In osu this flows for multiple minutes which drills flicks pretty hard.
If i only would adjust the dpi in one game to fit the other haha
It didn’t “suck” even in the first one imo. It’s just that whenever you miss, the main reason you miss is that your brain decides where to flick, and then there’s that tiny latency between that decision and the moment your hand actually flicks. There’s just no other way to improve that aspect apart from practicing more.
And yeah, all settings low / off, and if needed, res scale to 75%.
Alright well, it’ll be tough to visually get used to but I can try lowering my graphics settings and seeing if I notice any positive increase in my performance.
I think you’re saying you just completely rely on your muscle memory and just use flicks? Well, I tend to incorporate some tracking into my aiming for crosshair placement and then I do a flick at the end, like in the second video I recorded.
Alright, I’ll just keep practicing that and I’ll lower the graphics settings to see if it helps at all.
Learning to play precision characters you need to unlearn some hard habits, Widowmaker’s and Mccree’s hit box is precise, and flicking is the worst thing you can do with with non automatic shots. If you want to hit targets flicking is the first thing that needs to go semi automatic weapons don’t have the luxury to miss shots like automatic weapons,. Don’t worry about trying to get your crosshair on the target and focus more on waiting for their head to move towards the crosshair and fire, a lot of players like to think they are very evasive but they always move in set patterns making it easy to shoot them.
There was a video on it. Sec, lemme find it.
Here you go.
Edit: essentially, if the numbers being talked about in tip 5 are high, it means you’re looking through the past. So while your cursor is on someone, your shot won’t be. That’s what I was discussing.
Yep. Keep practicing and save some money to get a better monitor. Start clicking heads and thank me later GLHF
Then explain all the hitscan users who have been banned for using aimbots.
-
Lower your sense just a tiddy bit to get some more stability, you can raise it laters.
-
Position yourself in good spots, this obviously takes practice and knowledge but a general thumb of rule is - especially as a beginner - be in a spot that covers the importen parts of the fight, but do not over extend yourself so that you easily get dived or contested in any way stressing you out. More combat widow comes later with confidence and experience.
-
Do not go for flick shots. Track and chill until you’ve got the shot lined up. Widow tracking is less soldier spot on and more predicting ahead were your opponents gonna be within the next 0.5 second and boom line up the shot.
-
Breath. Breath. Breath. Take deeps breaths, especially after landing successive head shots and you are getting all excited. A calm head is a better HS-machine.
-
Take out opposing widows or snipers first depending on how aggressive they are towards you, less stress for you to deal with while you proceed to tear their supports apart afterwards.
-
Warm up. Do it properly, stretch your frist, do some situps, some push ups and jumps. Trust me, its not about getting a workout and all sweaty, but it will help with your focus.
-
Warm-up in game. Kinda self explanatory.
-
Get better hardware, it makes a huge difference until you reach the S-tier of specs.
-
Practice.
ok so to start, Ana bots are relatively difficult to hit until you develop raw mechanics. In game its easier because players make dumb and easily predictable movements.
im a 4k peak widow player, i have like 400 hrs on her and i one tricked Mercy for 1000 hours before i played Widow, and i was able to get to GM with a 29% scoped crit. First FPS game, first PC game, different sens than my Mercy sens.
For me, aim just came to me. I got used to my sens quickly, and i was able to land flicks rather easily. Thats mostly how i aim, flicking. I cant track at all. But flicking is still inconsistent, unless you are Aimbot calvin with a 110% flick accuracy.
i can’t really tell you what you’re doing wrong, from the recordings you included. But i can tell you some of the things i did when i first started out playing Widow trying to hit shots.
- Take your time. Just position your shot, when you are learning you dont need to master 180 flicks there and then, take a second, maybe two. Take a deep breath and click.
- Patterns. Players have patterns. They strafe predictably, they move in straight lines. You can study these patterns, look at different heroes hitboxes. (For example, Tracer’s head hitbox is in a very different position to say Mercy’s hitbox while walking.) Jumps too, they’re easy to predict.
If you got any ranked gameplay of Widowmaker id love to watch it and see where your mistakes actually are. My discord is Arya#4399 if you’d rather send it to me there.
Edit: I watched these when i was a novice widow player. REALLY helped.:
This one has some aim tips, like when to click when people are strafing.
This one talks about crosshair placement in Widow v Widow. Can translate to other heroes.
23% is above average. Hitting headshots is hard. Sounds like mostly you just need to be easier on yourself
I have this problem too and I think it has a lot to do with your latency to the server or the latency on the server and the latency of the person your’re shooting. There was a video create a long time ago that describes the entire process when you make a shot and what happens. Ultimately I think the server wins cause it decides if the shot hits or not. I also think some heros have rather large hitboxes compared to others (Hanzi is annoying to headshot) where torb you can pick him off fairly easy.
Honestly there’s not much you can do but keep playing widow. I had the same issue when playing widow. But, one thing that did help a lot was I stopped trying to do flick shots. Instead I track more now. I think that helped a lot. Just keep practicing and try diff things. One day it’ll click dw
Try not to focus too hard on getting headshots. Personally, it just makes you nervous and kind of messes up the shots. Relax and have fun with it.
Honestly as a percentage how many is that?
Wow, my post got flagged for asking for help and advice. Nice community we have here. I wanted to show the first game I played since making this topic, but it won’t let me post the link now. I’ve kept all the videos I’ve been posting as Unlisted, it has nothing to do with advertising.
