Why can we ban preferred heroes?

Idk. I can see a debate to be had for LW, but if you get one vote to “improve the quality” of the match and you spend it to avoid “bad” grips I don’t really see an issue. Bad grips are way more uncommon now compared to when he was a new hero, so I don’t really see this being a frequent issue. If it did, perhaps the logical response is that it’s time to take a look at grip.

Very simple. It’s not

Because if I don’t ban Doom, he’ll be on both teams, which has happened in literally 100% of my matches this season when he isn’t banned. Then fun drops by 5,000% for every non-Doom player. I have an obligation to ban him.

If my teammate can’t win without using their busted crutch pick, they need to drop a few ranks until they learn more heroes.

So far in my games, people seem to be mindful of not banning anyone’s preferred heroes. People mostly target the enemy team.

The major underlying premise of the hero ban system is that you are not entitled to one character in the game, preferred or otherwise.

Your display of preference is a mere communication to your teammates to accommodate your selection, and that is where your privilege ends. It is your teammates’ prerogative to accommodate you or not. You may call it “anti-cooperative,” but it’s definitely not griefing for the premise stated above.

I mean, banning itself is a crutch feature.

Because if preferred heroes are immune to banning then banning heroes would be pointless

The difference is that I can win without banning as I have for years. It just makes that match worse. Can they still win without their preferred pick? I bet they can’t.

They can. They just don’t want to. It’s no different from you having a preference.

So if they don’t want to win then playing their preferred hero wouldn’t matter and should just go along with the hero bans. Simple

I swear it feels like you stalk me on the forums. ngl.

Yes because I came to this thread that I was already in just for you. Truly, don’t flatter yourself 1/100,000,000th of that lmao :joy: ngl

And I was here before you, so if anything YOU are stalking ME. Creepy.

So no different to any match before bans then… lol

Well sure, you can report anyone for anything. And people can and will report YOU for anything.

But if you’re getting reported for not counterswapping then nothing will happen, so there’s no sense in even bringing it up. Just like reports of griefing/throwing based on ban votes will result in nothing. But you’re all free to report away, if you like. All it will do is deprioritize your future reports.

Is it griefing for your team to say “let play Dive” and you decide to play your Symmetra OTP, instead?

It is Cooperative, or not? Positive or Negative Gameplay?

This is what players in this game have been dealing with for years.

No matter what the other 4-5 players on the team thinks, ONE player decides they want to have it their way, locks in a specific hero, and makes it impossible for them to execute the “teamplay” that they had in mind.

One player on a team should not be the dictator of fun.

It’s possible because it should be possible.

There are lots of heroes in the game. If you cannot enjoy playing at least 3 of them across each role, to the point of practicing and becoming proficient in them… then perhaps you should consider a different genre.

Preferred = Preferred, not Protected.

They note your preference. D oesn’t mean they must capitulate to it. There may be someone on the enemy team who is better at that hero than you are, so they may not want to play into that.

Widow is getting banned on Havanna no matter who marks her as preferred on my team. I’m not dice rolling “Who has the best Widow, this game.” Sorry, no.

I do not report people BECAUSE it does nothing. You can report a racist who is throwing the game and nothing will happen. My Sistah Spice has somehow gotten people banned just for talking trash to me, though. Maybe my less frequent reports on the most egregious nonsense are less valuable. Who could say?!

dont care if its griefing, “prefered” heroes isnt " you are forced to not ban my hero"

you play a problematic hero for the map / my main ? i do not care, i ban them

I agree, it has happened maybe once and I still got to play that hero because it was only one loser, then I proceeded to win match and get potg with freja.

It’s just a weird thing to do and everyone who isn’t a socially stunted goober understands this.

I just had to do this because our tank wanted to go Hog but my co-support wanted Ana. We banished the granny, and our Hog ended up killing it and literally never dying, so I think we made the right decision. The Ana enjoyer just spent that match (DPS?) Moiraing instead
