Why can Mei's ult be canceled?

It just happened to me. I threw it onto the point, after it almost hit the ground I got hooked and guess what, the ultimate got canceled. Why is that allowed to happen?

because blizzard says so… there is no good reason after all.

her ult has a pretty long animation … they could easily shorten that window but no.

Mei’s ultimate is a cast ultimate. If she is stunned when she is holding the robot will she lose her ultimate.

The ultimate disappearing mid air is caused by latency.

I highly recommend you to read this:

It has a cast animation of 0.5 seconds.
Thanks to latency is this delayed.
Basically is the cast animation (on client side) and the cast time (on server side) not aligned with each other.

the tradeoff is it has absolutely insane distance, you can fling Snowball across the map pretty much, so you can send her ult from any position which is quite important to keep in mind.

in the future just be more careful about when you ult, don’t ult within range of anything that can interrupt you.
