Sorry, is genji supposed to fall flat on his back? He’s a ninja dude. He is supposed to be nimble. You are probably a rein main, and genji probably bursts u with shurikens from behind, but that’s his purpose.

Wait does she not bash through the shield (still do the damage) or just not stun through it? I really can’t remember and have not tested it.
Precisely, Genji’s job is to harass the backline. To do so he needs the ability TO ACTUALLY GET INTO THE BACK LINE.
She stops right at the shield, doing no damage/stun.

dash literally deals the same damage as old shield bash back when stun combo was a thing. only difference is that brig was actually better at dealing damage to tanks because she can actually swing her regular attack through barriers and matrix. Genji shurikens are harder to hit and cant go through either and deal less damage than brig swings. Also his dash dealing 50 damage and bash dealing 50 damage is different. Genji dashing a rein shield puts him out of position and locks him in dash animation with no protection for enough time to get him killed or to force out his deflect cooldown, brig however, could safely deal 50 damage and stun a tank for almost a second which is plenty of time to allow for a shatter or to just discord then speed onto someone. Don’t even begin to compare genji dash to that atrocity of a character.

I forgot that being able to go through shields and stunning were the only two differences between the two abilities. It’s not like Strike still does 50 damage over a longer range with the ability to go through multiple opponents and is reset of kill assists.

Please point out where I said that’s the only difference. I answered OP’s question - the reason Brig’s bash can’t go through barriers is because it stuns. It could go through originally and was very oppressive because of it, so they changed that aspect of it. That’s not even up for debate, it’s what the developers said when they made the changes.
Because Blizzard doesn’t use logic to balance their games, only perception. Swift strike and Shield bash had and still have a lot in common but poor Rein mains thought SB was annoying and so it was nerfed.

Swift strike can kill most of a team when Zarya’s Gravaton is out, but Brigitte’s shield bash can’t. So the logic fails there.
If you want to know the real reason, it’s because bridgette stops on the first enemy hit (in this case, the shield), while genji does not.

Because shields counter shields. It’s like two magnets that repel eachother.
But not really.
Balance issues. It was a battle of who could shield bash the opposing Reinhardt first, so your Reinhardt could shatter. Now, it’s kinda the same, but the Brigitte has to physically walk through the shield, which gives the Zarya time to react.
But what if I’m not playing Brig, Zarya and Rein? Then you’re probaly plat or below.

Reaper, Pharah, Junkrat, Roadhog, Bastion, Doomfist, Mei. And those are just hard counters.
