I’d argue the that you’re both wrong.
They are trying to fix Queue Times, and Matchmaking by getting more Tank players.
And while it affects Impact, the Impact isn’t the justification for why they are doing it.
It’s not about “jobs”.
It’s about “DPS-to-Tank player ratio”.
So shouldnt you argue to rework all tanks into dps and solve that ratio/queue time problem?
Of course they are trying to “fix” queue times, that is why they switched to 5v5. They didnt try to dynamically change the game, they halved the tank role and tried to make the tanks do twice the work.
The solution should have been no more role queue, instantly no more queue time problems.

thinking 1 role should hold the power of 2 players is EXACTLY why tank is where it is. No one except the tank has fun when tanks are worth 2 players. Then when tanks are only worth 1 player they fall over. Its a failed idea from the start

You are blinded by your ineptitude. Tank players, while not unanimously, are largely more in favor of being weaker but no longer solo. AKA – 6v6.
Except 6v6 comes with major issues of its own that most people advocating for it either ignore or brush off as not relevant
There was a reason we went to 5v5 because tanks in 6v6 also sucked to play and caused major issues of their own when you were entirely reliant on your 2nd tank to play with you

This patch alone makes 6v6 look better than ever, flaws and all. Tank duos were hit and miss. Sure.
It was still better than needing to turn tanks into Dead by Daylight killers to try and bribe people into playing it.
How about we just accept that tanks can’t exist in this game in their current directions in a healthy way?

There is no way for tanks to exist and everyone else have fun. 8 yrs of data has proven this but people keep thinking its a reality. You are chasing a fantasy. How long do we have to go round in circles before the puzzle piece slots into place for y’all
Look at other games that have tanks and made them work. That’s how we should be trying to push tanks but people hate the protector style of gameplay. They just want to run down mid and slay whilst having 700hp and a hitbox the size of saturn
The problem with 6v6 was the switch to role queue, and even then, it was more fun than OW2 has ever been.
By increasing damage, tanks survivability does go up, in theory. People in general don’t want to play a walking wall of meat because they find it boring. I don’t agree with that sentiment, but I do understand why Blizz is making the changes.
Tanks raw survivability isnt the issue. Its how effective their counters are against them. Tanks when not against their counters were fine. Everytime they get buffed we push that line past balanced
Tanks sucked to play for fixable reasons in 6v6 though, the issue was that DPS were tuned to bust tanks in GOATs and never got nerfed back down along with the massive amount of CC that was flying around. If tanks didn’t explode every time they turned a corner, more people would be playing tank. Especially now that Orisa has been reworked and double shield wouldn’t be as potent.
