No one cares for the xp penalties. Almost all players in this game got most of the cosmetics (at least on their mains). Also not to mention the fact that setting through HLC/Paris will significantly shorten your lifespan lol
People, who want a normal game care? Not everyone plays comp. Leaver often ruins the game, backfillers are afk or we don´t get one for a while if it´s tank. It would not be such a big deal, if it was not happening so hella often…

I queue in hopes of not getting stuck on HLC or paris. I don’t leave games consistently, just on those maps
Because the game is a failure at keeping you from not wanting to leave, so they have to punish you for wanting to leave.
My best games all included at least two players quitting after being very vocal in chats. I turn off said chats, put my head down and figure out how to still give my best fight. It becomes fun, and winning those challenging from behind matches is a big part of why I still play.
Also, there is usually still a healer left and suddenly I start getting pocket heals and other perks for having good sportsmanship. One recent game, we had over 6 quitters and lots of chat crying. We won with the truck right near the last checkpoint for over six minutes! Was a good hold, and only 2 of us were original roster from beginning of match.
Could you imagine the drama in a leaver queue?! I would spectate more than play if this became a reality. Would be hilarious .

They ought to just attempt doing what they used to do in WoW (and then randomly removed after numerous expansions and positive reception) and allow for 1 or 2 maps to be put on a blacklist so you never have to play them (unless you do the unthinkable after a match and actually… stay in the lobby!).

Well if you only care about yourself i guess you wont understand that. Its the same with mystery heroes how many times i join a match which just ended… Thinking its ok to waste other people their time is just selfish.
And i really don’t understand when people play a team based game or game mode when they want to leave if it does not go their way. Atleast play something you are on your own like FFA deathmatch, there it has not really an affect.
Anyway imo the penalty should change into a warning first and do it again in the next 4 hours you get a 2 hour ban on joining games.

If you don’t like it, then don’t quit. Choices have consequences.
I quit Paris and HLC every time and never get punished. Never even got a warning. Sounds like you got unlucky and got them a bunch of times in a row. A neat trick to do is avoid someone from the game you left so you don’t get placed back in and have to quit again.
I don’t care that anyone quits because of the map at the very beginning before the team leaves spawn - doing that doesn’t really impact the game. This thread is about the quitters who don’t have enough backbone to handle the loss of the first point.
You are allowed to leave 5 games out of the last 20 you played without getting a leaver penalty. On the 6th leave within 20 games you get 1 leaver penalty and so on. Once you get back down to 5 or less within the last 20 games you no longer have a penalty. Once you get to 15 as your penalty it won’t go any higher because it only tracks the last 20 games. At 15 there is not really any penalty if you don’t mind the -75% XP gain.

Except sometimes it doesn’t. It’s just an xp penalty, it’s not that big of a deal.
I don’t necessarily mind when people leave at the beginning of a match. But I always report people who leave with 5 seconds left and force someone to join the game right at the defeat screen. Those people deserve to play attack on Paris for the rest of eternity.
I find this is common. Because if you start a match with someone willing to leave when things are going badly, you are starting a match one player down already.

Bad Matchmaking does the same thing. If people feel the match is hopeless they are gonna bail.
I used to stay in games until the bitter end but now I’ll leave soon as the match feels like its gonna be a waste of time.
People like you are why QP has penalties.
Depends on the time of day, region and role that leaves. While the moment you notice some one leave and the time it’s filled is mostly pretty fast. They are effectively out of the game for longer than the moment they leave if it’s a DC or shut down. As well as the moment they join doesn’t mean they are in the game and picked a hero.
Like I said the break is at least 30 seconds if not longer of time you have no one on your team.
