Why are people supporting casual play in competitive?

i have made the posts myself and have seen dozens of others, people ask why wont players take comp seriously learn the game and try to do their best. and the most common reply on these forums is “why would we try hard and sweat we want to play for fun cant people have fun, what a weirdo trying to play comp seriously”. this take is wild to me. isn’t that why we have a casual/quick play mode. if you enter comp you should be preprepared/ be trying to get better or try ur damn hardest?. i know ow2 is catering to the less skilled players now-a-days but come on at last use common sense.

I don’t see what the problem is. They will be placed accordingly to their output. People have different objectives when it comes to games. Despite the mode calling itself “competitive” it is still just a video game and personally I don’t think video games should ever be taken actual seriously. I can relate far more to someone just playing and having a good time to someone treating the game as a job and as if losing is a blow to their self worth.

In the end there is just different game modes with different rulesets and people can do whatever they want with any of them. They want to play “competitive” for the game modes rules and have fun doing it. Whatever amount of ability their perform at will determine where they are put.

I mean blizzard themselves apparently want casuals playing comp because there are going to be dozens of people soft-throwing comp matches to unlock the new emerald weapons

in the end ur part of the problem

It doesn’t reward you for playing well. Only your team. It’s also full of leavers, smurfs, etc. It’s a joke mode.

100% and i genuinely think its due to the more casual approach ow2 has taken.

The problem is the vast amount of cheaters and smurfs ruining and kind of competitive integrity the game could ever hope to have. Taking this seriously is a meaningless endevour and a huge waste of time.

Another problem is you getting upset with someone actually manage to have fun for once which is the primary reason for video games to exist.

no, cheaters are rare, 1/500 players maybe i have over 4000 hours and have run into maybe 10. you said it ureself you dont care what the mode is for you dont care whatever anyone else wants… you just want to have fun wherever whenever. not my words yours. because games are a joke and no one cares so why should you lmao. play casual, because people do care, people do want to climb and take the game serious. i hate to be a parrot but you are a part of the problem.

Why should they? The dev’s have given up any semblance of competitive gaming.

thats true its a mess rn, and probably will be until season 10 at least. but my main point was the forum members being advocates of having fun and just chilling in comp because no one cares. not the overall integrity of comp.

edit: no into not/ spelling mistake

Cheaters are in nearly every single match at higher MMR. I don’t even play this game anymore, but I unfortunately have more hours in this game than you will ever have for the rest of your life.

I hope this realization has not been lost on you, but those people in your games that are just messing around and having fun are of equal skill to you treating the game like your life depended on it.

Games are for fun. You’ll learn that sooner or later.

bahaha. cheaters are not in almost every game get a grip XD. you dont even plat but you stalk forums 24/7. and no comp games are for sure not for messing around. you sound like someone that couldnt breach play and got suuuuuper salty. either that of you spent ur time ruining comp games without the intention to improve. the quick game if for people like you, people that dont care, people that are jaded af, and before you say ur not jaded. you tried to pull ohhhh ihave more hours i know more im better ur opinon doesnt matter. ur for sure 30+ dependent on attention and status. XD weirdo.

The problem is that ranked alone is a joke.
Blizzard has done nothing to improve match quality and and doesn’t care that smurfs, throwers and even premade abuse the system.

Because every mode is a joke.

You can see why people are laughing at you right? You put “competitive” and “not taken seriously” in the crap you spouted.
Just another guy that doesn’t own a dictionary.

Please. Show me more than one instance where a player is actively hacking.

Wrong. Just wrong. Stay away from competitive mode please.

Competitive mode is for people that are trying to make a name for themselves and leave something behind for others to remember.
You saying “Oh you shouldn’t take it seriously” is not only ignorant in essence but also flat out disrespectful to the few of us that take comp matches seriously.
But i blame Blizzard the most for opting for the F2P business model, it just opened the game to trolls, kids and people that never bothered to use google to define Competitive for them.
Seriously. I wish Aaron Keller would just step down from his director’s seat and give it to someone more competent.

People will get placed according to their skill and effort combined. If someone is talented but doesn’t want to sweat he won’t beat someone who is great and tries hard. What’s the problem? Let’s say on average chill players are one rank below their skill level - their rank will reflect that. If someone is at your rank without tryharding they are just good enough to be there without sweating. I don’t really care what people do as long they aren’t throwing. Onetricking is fine, not playing counters is fine too. Just play a damn game and I don’t care what do you do.

This is an unhinged lunatic rant if I’ve ever seen one.

I’ve been told that I shouldn’t expect the matchmaker in QP to do its job and that I should head to Comp for better games. So I head into Comp when really, I’ve got no business being there.

Maybe other people are also fed up with QP match quality and are emigrating to Comp. :person_shrugging:

Much much bs u talk…

I was taking the competitive seriously during 4 years. I wanted to climb and reach TOP500 (I even fantasized about competing in Contenders), but it didn’t matter how hard I tried to win because I didn’t advance no matter how well I did.

It is a team game with random teams in each match. Things always happen that are beyond your control.

It’s best to try to have fun and make each game feel different. I love looking for new ways to surprise the other team
