What a bad experience, sorry you had to deal with that.
I gave up on chat entirely, even with my own team, because I kept encountering people who had the social skills of sewer rats (which is probably an insult to sewer rats tbh.)
It was getting to the point where asking people if they had a pref for heals during prep in QP was met with an absolute slew of disgusting, vitriolic abuse (and/or graphic sexual harassment) that in no way matched the tone or context of the question being asked.
I understand that these reprobates are in the minority, but rolling the dice on whether you’re going to get a sane person, some edgelord, or someone who should probably be kept off the internet for everyone’s safety every QP game is exhausting.
I’m not their mother, their carer, the police, or their therapist. It’s not my job to fix them or cure them of their butt-hole-ery. Your first duty of care should be towards yourself. Keep yourself safe first and foremost. And, for me, that means staying out of chat entirely.
Yes, I know its unfair, everyone should be able to include themselves in the game’s community without fear of abuse. But the truth is these games are plagued by people who just aren’t safe to be around.
