Why are people fine with the Demoman from TF2 but Hate fighting Junkrat in this game?

Granted back in Team Fortress the Demomans Stickybomb Launcher is just as equally hated with people claiming its Sticky spam and such.

However no one in that game complains about the actual Grenade Launcher weapon in his arsenal. And as far as I feel that functions almost the same as Junkrats weapon in this game apart from Pipes rather than Circular Grenades (And even then there’s a weapon called the Iron Bomber that changes that completely). With the only other thing probably being Junk’s nades bounce while Demo’s Pipes Roll.

Why do other Grenade/Explosive characters in other games get a free pass but Junkrat is a Pain for the community in this game?

I don’t think anyone has complained about Junkrat in months.
Also, remember the complaints about the loch ‘n’ load?

Demoman definitely had lots of complaints last I was ever part of TF2. I wouldn’t immediately say he got a “free pass,” rather that he was an annoying to the community for a lot of different reasons and now we just sort of forgot because that game changed so much.

People don’t like bouncy balls of death being hurled at them, mostly. Every hit comes off as “accidental” regardless of how calculated it was.

Still seen a lot of “Junkrat needs MORE Nerfs” threads here but this forum as far as I know is so whiney they’d call for Zenyatta Nerfs at this point

Loch N Load was one singular weapon and a fair call, boosted damage just like the Direct Hit but Easier to hit the enemies. Well, it only really got bad when it was buffed to have 3 grenades rather than its pretty big drawback of 2. So Nerfing it to make it the Sentry Busting Side grade was the right option.

All i ever did in TF2 was complain about Soldier and Demoman.

I’ve had a vendetta against splash damage ever since, but recently stopped caring as much since Hanzo/Widow/Doomfist are worse than any splash damage hero currently in-game.

Junkrat was fine before the nerf. If you couldn’t avoid red glowing orbs that was your fault

But wait, players cried and big daddy blizzard had to hold their hands and make it easier for them. Nerf the big bad rat

nerfing junkrat was a mistake

he is a good counter to comps that run more than 2 tanks now you can pretty much run 3 tanks with no issues if you want to

Demoman doesn’t have infinite ammo. If he wants mobility he has to damage himself, making him more vulnerable to attacks. He doesn’t have a free kill ultimate ability.

I don’t think comparing Overwatch heroes to their TF2 equivalents is fair in any way since TF2 requires so much more skill and game sense than Overwatch. You can’t really say “People are fine with Demoman therefore people should be fine with Junkrat”.

Even then, complaints of Demoman are still there. Its just a lot less compared to OW. And demoman was nerfed IIRC, his current state was a lot different than his hey days.

Found the demo main lol

haha. Complete opposite with me. I never played Demoman before I ventured over to Overwatch.

Demoman was always a heated debate in TF2, especially once he got more unlocks. He was essentially junkrat on major steroids. He got numerous changes over the yearsand is actually now balanced these days. He’s still Junkrat on steroids, make no mistake, his sticky bomb launcher alone is better than Junkrat as an entire hero, but in the context of TF2’s gameplay he’s very balanced.

I remember a thread on SPUF (the now offline Steam Forums), there was a thread titled “Think the Demoman is OP? Prove it” that went on for hundreds of pages, maybe even close to 1000.

You probably don’t see much hate for Demoman here compared to Junkrat because these are the Overwatch forums.

The Demoman’s Grenades do 40% less damage on hitting a surface.

The Demoman also had stickies which were significantly more annoying and overpowered than the Grenades.

Players did complain about them for a while due to the Loch-n-Load’s one hitting of some heros and the Loose Cannon doing the same.

I don’t even play TF2 anymore but when I did I was a Scout main. My point still remains that TF2 requires more gamesense and resource management than Overwatch. Even if Demoman is “no skill and OP” in the context of TF2 it’s still not fair to compare him to Junkrat.
