This will not be true no matter how many times you people repeat it. GOATs is literally the pinnacle of coordination and resource management. This is why y’all need to stop pretending you care about DPs being viable in it. You don’t, you only want Hitscan to be viable, you couldn’t give 2 figs if Junkrat, Reaper, Pharah, Mei, Symmetra or other dps that aren’t centered around where their cursor is pointed at be viable. You just want to see Widow hook, jump and shoot and maybe tracer blink behind zen and one clip him.
not as good as a top 500 game but meta is meta, simply picking them gives you some advantage like pirate ship on junkertown
I primarily use Junk when it comes to Defense on tight maps…
Like Hollywood (OMG the first point…I always hide a trap underneath broken TVs), or King’s Row, ooor Rialto, orrr…yea. Maps like those- for the purpose of easy area denial. :X
Junkrat is downright broken on Anubis
Yeah, but just spamming areas?unless you have idea where they are you are just wasting ammo
Storm Arrow is brain dead. But I don’t see anything else being brain dead.
Choke points are a little less terrible to spam if they’re one of the only entrances. It’s why I like Hollywood Junkrat- as spamming nades in the main choke while concealing a trap in the second area usually grants me fast ult charge and a bunch of kills.
Strongly disagreed. Diving the wrong targets, using the wrong abilities at the wrong times, positioning incorrectly etc. in a dive comp will actually make it work worse than just picking random synergistic heroes.
Dive was never dominant because the individual heroes were at a higher power level than the rest (though you could argue that about a few of them), which is what people usually mean when they talk about ‘meta’ in other games. It was dominant because of the synergy of the different abilities in the composition, but that only applied if they were used correctly.
even if they are bad, the enemy team is probably equally bad and doesn’t know how to punish them. like what is a zen supposed to do when a genji and tracer jumps on him? rely on that diamond mccree?
the only hero’s that was broken in dive was mercy, dva was slightly overtuned but the rest were balanced, mercy was being picked in the enemy team anyways so that balanced itself out.
When talking about dive, most people think of the classic “Winston, D.va, Genji, Tracer, Zen, Lucio” combo, which is pure dive, it started getting variations latter but that was only in response to various hero buffs and nerfs and was less about dive and more about other things besides it.
And yeah, if the Genji and Tracer dive your Zen, the diamond Mccree will stun one of them and kill them, and the other will die to the rest of your team. Because they have to actually do it simultaneously (which is not as easy as you might think because their movement abilities are different so they have to position differently), and they need D.va’s defense matrix in place at the right time to protect them. (Generally speaking it shouldn’t even be Genji and Tracer doing it, the classic initiators are Winston and Tracer, with D.va and Genji being secondary, and that’s because Tracer has superior mobility to Genji in terms of being able to get away or reposition, and Winston having the health and tools to survive the attack too, which Genji doesn’t (which is also the reason Genji was the first hero to start being subbed out, because it’s often better to just have something like a widow who can get a kill from afar)).
As you can see it’s much more complicated than just “jump on the same target”, and that’s even true of diamond gameplay.
GOATS is incredibly far from braindead. It’s by far the most intricate meta. It requires every member of the team to perform well and relies heavily upon communication and coordination. Picking GOATS heroes does mostly nothing if they aren’t coordinating well.
in diamond and lower you don’t need much more than just jump on that hero
its not really that complicated, tracer makes that even easier since she can easily swap between targets
its not perfect and winston probably dies in the process but they do get more kills than the enemy team
Let me just put it this way: at the time I saw far more people “playing dive” and failing miserably (and losing against teams not playing “dive” than I’ve seen people that executed it successfully.
so why were they’re pickrates at the top and had the best winrates?
dva had a good winrate, tracer had a decent winrate and most picked dps, genji 2nd most picked, zenyatta had the highest support winrate, mercy was overpowered no matter what you played
the only one that was hard to play was winston
I mean they did bring is Brig, a very easy hero to hard counter Tracer and Genji. Some of the hardest hero’s.
Seems skill has little place in this game sometimes.
“GOATS is very easy to play.”
-Rawkus, Houston Outlaws
I mean…they are saying that when their top 5 comp heroes are all goats heroes…
Probably hurt themself in confusion
Because it wouldn’t be a meta if it was hard and required skill.
I feel like if you are playing junk and you are aiming, you are playing him wrong
