Why are all the content creators' ideas so boring?

Hero pools was way worse of an idea than hero bans. Hero bans would be self-balancing for every rank. Low ranks would ban heroes that are frustrating to go up against there, like Reaper or Rein (if your name rhymes with Bitro-Bar). High ranks would ban heroes that affect metas. It’s so simple but yet the devs won’t put it in.

Banning would be fine if we got more heros in game

There is a fighting game called Samurai Showdown. You play as typical Animè troupes: Ruggged wandering Ronin, edgy-dude, kawaii magic user, creepy gremlin creature, etc.

Casual/low tier play sees alot of action with flashy moves, combos and grand finishes.

Meanwhile in high tier play (like top 10 of the world), they don’t move. They barely inch within strike zones and wait. Usually, at the final 5 seconds of the round, someone makes a move. Whoever can first get some chip damage against their opponent will win due to having the life lead when the timer reaches zero. Pretty boring compared to casual play.

It’s because the high levels know that having the life lead is a more likely win than KO-ing your opponent.

It’s a different system up there that’s more strict and less exciting as it’s pretty formulaic.

this is why you fight AGAINST your top players’ way of breaking the game in your design philosophy, you do not grant them powerful tools to enforce it in a different way. if that game had someone who could better win than that strat, and they had bans, they would ban it.

Holy hell… You literally complained that player-managed hero bans are bad because “influencers” will affect what people ban. If that’s not what you meant, just clarify and move on instead of all this roundabout “nuh-uh, I meant something else!” bs.

Because if hero bans are a thing, they fall within the bounds of the “entire game”.

Because most content creators aren’t game designers; they don’t know the intricacies and process behind game design

That’s not open to interpretation because you could clearly see what it was in reply to.

No.

You’re not going to get a clarification as it’s already clear.

You’ll get a reiteration: I’m fed up of “influencers” promoting awful ideas like voting to ban heroes. It’s horse trading.

What specious reasoning.

Heroes are being locked away from even being possibly played, they are totally out of consideration.

Ppl still think bans will fix the game? Lol

The joke is they CLAIM that… when it’s so insincere.

This isn’t about fixing the game, this is the other sort of “fixing a game” not as in repairing something broken.

Ooooh, I get it now. You misinterpreted my post. Unlike you, I’m going to own that if I’d worded it more clearly, this could’ve been avoided. Fun how that can happen, yeah?

You’re complaining that hero bans in general are bad because you think people only want it because “influencers” made them that way.

Are we on the same wavelength now?

Give me strength… This exchange would be literal hours ahead of where it is if you just clarified (or asked for clarification on my statement that started all this) instead of getting all petulant.

It’s not specious at all. Hero bans bring additional strategic and tactical challenge to both teams. Seems reasonable to me, since this chat is in the context of “the challenge of the entire game”.

No.

No they don’t.

It’s horse trading where you can discard all the “strategic and tactical challenge” posed by some heroes.

JUST PLAY THE GAME!

The players don’t want this, only the entitled self-absorbed streamers want this as a selfish myopic solution because they develop obsessive aversions to some heroes and they have this idea they can steer a mob in the direction they want.

It is not appealing to randos who join a game to go through some tedious brinksmanship trying to decide which heroes they should ban when they’re probably not even talking to each other.

lol, it’s like arguing with a toddler. Careful, if hero bans ever went through, someone might put you in the timeout corner.

The other side of this statement is that it reduces the strategic and tactical options available to each side, forcing them to adapt with new strategic and tactical plans. I.e, it adds more challenge.

YOU don’t want this. Sure, there are lots of people who agree with you, but there’s also lots who think it’d be good for the game, or is at least worth trying.

Opposing an idea “because streamers want it” isn’t an argument. All that says is that you don’t like streamers, it doesn’t say anything about what is actually bad about the idea.

Well I’ve seen it now, are you going to delete it before the mod sees it?

You can’t delete my quote of your foul behaviour.

Why should I answer any more of your bad faith arguments? So you can abuse and harass me more? This is how you get your way in life? Treat them like scum?

You don’t belong on these forums. You can’t be trusted.

lol, that’s exactly the kind of response I’ve come to expect from you.

I hope the mod does see it. I hope they go back through our exchange and assess what was said on both sides.

I’m happy to discuss the merits or problems with a player-manged ban system whenever you are.

No you’re not, you’re an abuser. If you can’t get your way you’ll hurt them any way you can.

You don’t get to treat people so badly then act entitled to your questions being answered.

You think I owe you a response?

You are going to have a HORRIBLE time in life if you think for a second you’re entitled to anything from others after you treat them like dirt.

You think I’m a coward because I won’t give you as bad as you give me? I don’t want these forums to be a cesspit, despite you using it like they are a cesspit.

Ok, serious talk. Are you OK? It sounds like you’ve got some stuff going on that definitely seems deeper than the exchange we’ve been having.

Maybe talking it out with someone you trust would help.

Yeah, you verbally abused me.

I don’t need to get used to being mistreated or verbally abused.

You said this to your boss you’d be fired on the spot. You’d be told to collect your things and leave the building or the police will remove you for trespassing.

Ok, all I’m saying is that you’re obviously taking what I said super hard, and I feel like there’s more going on here than just our exchange.

Take care of yourself. Talk it out with someone.

Repeat after me:

Being good at a game doesn’t mean you’re a good game designer.

Your desperate attempt to make this my fault are way more obvious than you think.

It’s not my fault for how you treat others.

This is not concern, this is shifting the blame.

You’re not a nice person, you don’t care about me, you only care that you make it out that problem is me for not validating your toxicity with tacit silence.
