Who will be getting a "bug fix" aka a nerf soon?

No. reapers shotgun IS hitscan.

Sure but not in the way people use that term in this game.

No, pretty sure it’s the same term. If you point and click at the target from what ever distance, it will hit that target.

In reapers case, damage fall off and spread suck, but still hitscan.

So, the pellets that come out of the larger ball that hog fires as his secondary, those pellets aren’t hitscan from the moment the ball bursts?
They are still projectiles?
Do we have a source for this?

I mean, it’s right in the wiki.

In that case. His primary.
It has damage drop, so why should’t his secondary?

It’s also listed as shotgun projectile, so that might be the reason why he’s ‘supposed’ to have damage fall-off?

It doesn’t matter what type of gun the projectile comes from. If it’s a projectile, it’s a projectile.

it, doesn’t? Where do you see his primary has falloff?
I’m blind. Never mind.

You’re right, i’ve never actually noticed it did have falloff. I don’t play the character much myself. So he is basically Mei after all.

Well, I’d rather say he’s like OLD Mei, as her damage falloff was removed not too long ago.

True, true. I’m actually looking into it now cause i clearly don’t know. so far the only other hero that has damage fall off on projectiles is Torbjorn. I’m begining to see a pattern.

Every projectile hero that has falloff is bad.

I get that, but there has to be a reason that he’s supposed to have damage fall-off on his secondary fire, right? The only logical explanation is that because it’s a shotgun, it should have damage fall-off. Except, even that’s flawed, because a shotgun’s damage fall-off comes naturally from the high spread of the pellets.

According to the wiki though, Torb also has damage fall-off on his secondary fire, and that is also listed as a shotgun projectile.

So basically, the fact that Roadhog’s gun is a shotgun is probably the best explanation for the ‘bugfix’, considering that that’s also how it works with other shotgun projectiles. :woman_shrugging:

Yes and no.

Fixing problems like Symmetra placing an indestructible teleporter and Mei not being able to freeze are definitely bug fixes. It’s fixing something so it can work as intended.

But if bug fixes change a hero’s kit that has worked that way since the beginning then it could be seen as a nerf (or buff). Good examples of this are Moira not being able to heal through shields anymore and Mei’s ultimate getting a cast time. Both of these bugfixes have made an ability weaker. So in a way is it also a nerf.

Let’s say that Ana’s hitscan should have falloff damage, but never had it since day 1. If they would fix this, would this not be a nerf, even though it is being called a bug fix?

I think bugfixes can be seen as buffs or nerfs as long if it affects how the hero is being played.

They should just go ahead and make it hitscan after a point then for consistencies sake. The spread is painful enough that far distance hits with shotgun projectiles wouldn’t do much anyway.

I think i found the answer to op’s question though. Reaper’s shotgun clearly was meant to be projectile.

Next patch:

-Fixed a bug that allowed Bastion to transform without the intended 5 second delay
-Fixed a bug that caused Reaper’s shotguns to deal 140 damage instead of 14

Dev comment: Although these features have been in the game for 2 years, it was never our intention for Bastion or Reaper to be viable. In this patch we will fix the bugs that made them deal damage

As stated. A bug fix can be a nerf or a buff, but that is due to a bug being fixed.

A nerf on the other hand isn’t a bug fix, because it doesn’t fix any bugs, it just changes some numbers on a cooldown time or damage ammount.

Would they need to change d.va then?
What about doomfist?

D.va is hitscan with damage drop, doomfist is projectile without drop.

If only they fixed Hook Bugs…

They most likely have a priority list. Where his hook bugs are listed.
The question is where on that list they are located.
