Mercy is technically immortal too, don’t forget that one.
I’d place Sombra as Chaotic Neutral rather than Neutral.
Echo and junkerqueen and Mauge because I know I havent found the hero that is for me yet, not that im being negative tons of awsome heros
To play: Ana
Lore: lol, just kidding.
For me it’ll be tracer, pretty close with winston.
Tracer ofc bc she’s a cute british woman with amazing time abilities and a lovely personality.
And who can’t love emily and theyr relationship with lena?
Add that she’s with winston in overwatch and the fact i love her gameplay the most makes her my choice.
I think Widows and Doomfist might have some romantic history possibly, she’s always saying she’ll do what he wants her to do.
That is not relevant to to the topic. Like I said, who you like character wise and why. Not fan theories, ships, or debates regarding fandom written lore and what not. There is another thread for that and I am sure you could come up with a lot of good theories to share there. But this is once again, not for fan theories, ships, or any of that.
Canon lore is okay, but preferred to not be debated as the main conversation here. Try and stay on topic.
moira and sigma are so cool to me! i love the scientists and their experiments being brought into the game as their abilities. (i’m super excited about sigma lol)
Roadhog and Junkrat because
- I like to play fat characters and think that they often have a more interesting design than generic handsome guys or girls.
- I like crazy and psychotic characters (thats why i like Sigma aswell).
- I like the Junker-asthetics and i am a Fan of Borderlands.
- I really like the dynamic between the two. The fat and silent guy who is known for his brutal murders casually derps around with this obviously mental handicapped guy who goes around like he is the boss.
- I really like their voice-lines.
- Hooking annoying Heroes like Tracer or Genji and shooting them in the face feels really satisfying.
- Its really funny when someone walks right into a beartrap with a mine next to it.
Well, in regards to Lore, I like the “Dragons” cinematic as well as Hanzo’s and Genji’s whole thing.
The story is very compelling and definitely echoes a lot of Japenese themes in story telling. Like, how their Destinies are intertwined, the internal struggle of oneself, and all that good stuff. It has a lot of the same things i find interesting and intriguing about a lot of anime.
And, whats best about all of this, is it’s done by an American company. So, to see them tell this story so well, its quite impressive. Honestly, I haven’t seen Americans tell a Japanese style story, this well, since Samuari Jack and Avatar: The Last Airbender (which we’re heavily inspired by Japanese culture and themes)
Now, all of that being said, I really like the new Sigma origin story, as well. And, assuming they keep the same momentum, with the character, going forward, I’m sure he is going to shape up to be one of my favorite lores/stories of OW
Now, when it comes to the gameplay aspect, that would be Reaper and Soldier 76.
You see, Reaper is what got me to pick up this game. He is the only character, in OverWatch, that I knew anything about. Which, is pretty impressive, considering Tracer is on the bloody cover. Haha.
But, yeah, he is why i wanted to check out the game. I, actually, got a look at it, last Nov, during one of their “free to play” stints. And, after seeing how cool Reaper really was, i bought the game.
Soldier 76, came right after this. I picked him up, because of the tutorial, and really liked him. Also, i was never good at being a “Medic”, in games, so i had a fear of playing Supports in OW, for the first 10 hrs or so, as i thought i would suck with them and/or wouldnt like them. It turned out, i was wrong, but until i had the “courage” to try out Supports, Soldier was a nice “middle ground” for me to fight (shoot) and heal.
The funny part is, though, about a month or so, into the game, I heard that Soldier was supposed to be this “Starter Hero”. Like, for guys that come for CoD or whatever. Thats how Soldier was designed. The reason I find that funny, is because I hate games like Call of Duty, but i think Soldier is awesome. Haha.
So, yeah, thats why I like Reaper and Soldier, so much. Plus, when I started getting into the lore of this game, I started to find out all this stuff about Jack and Gabriel. And I think their whole story is pretty interesting as well. So, that added on an extra layer of “cool” for me.
Basically, what all this boils down to, is:
For Hanzo and Genji, their Lore came first for me. I didn’t really start picking them up, until I saw “Dragons” and learned about their whole story. So, their Lore inspired me to play them.
While, Soldier and Reaper (Jack and Gabriel), was the opposite. I picked them up, in the game, long before I knew the lore about/behind them. But, after I learned their stories, it gave me a deeper appreciation for the characters, overall.
Funny how things like that work out, sometimes, huh?
Reaper is actually what got me to like the game as well. What got me into the game is kind of a funny story since it all started with a fanmade Reaper vs Soldier 76 rap battle video on youtube that included footage from the actual shorts and story line game modes. XD
Sorry this is kind of off topic, but it is what got me into the game as well as what made me first like Reaper.
Well, that was… Different. Lol.
Cant be any worse than other OW related things like No Mercy and Throwverwatch. Haha.
Widowmaker for me since she has a tragic story and currently is trapped between the world of good and evil. Although she is perceived as a heartless assassin, Amelie is trapped against her will from the brainwashing.
Genji, Sombra and Reaper. Genji’s story is interesting and kinda inspiring. Sombra has a fun character, and interesting motivations. Reaper’s backstory has the whole “necessary evil” vibe to it, which I honestly like.
Genji is my favorite story-wise. I relate very much to his struggle with reconciling his new duality. Not really accepted by humans, not really accepted by omnics. It parallels a lot of the struggles I’ve had growing up mixed in the neighborhood I grew up in.
I wasn’t black enough for the black kids, and I was certainly not white. It was awkward for me. It’s something I still, to this day struggle with sometimes, and I’m always trying to force myself to find things I love about myself and just be happy being me.
I like that Genji has done that.
Pharah! She’s an awesome, strong willed woman, she’s tough and has a nice competitive, show-offy streak to her, she knows what she’s about and she’s a strong leader. I like how realistic her story is, too - she worked her whole life to earn something and just when the stars were aligning in her favor, her dreams were shot down. but she hasn’t given up and still fights the good fight. she hasn’t written her mother back either, which tells me she’s still reeling with hurt and confused inside. i like that she has vulnerabilities too.
Hey this dude has “Mei” in his name, I wonder who his favorite character is!?
Alright, listen- I’m just gonna get straight into this:
I love Mei, a lot. I love her now, I loved her in the past when I started playing, I even loved her enough back before I started playing, after I curiously looked into her after asking myself “Hey who’s this character?” at one point.
Best. Decision. Ever.
I was instantly sold, Blizzard got like 30-40 bucks from one dude (me) just because they made literally the (opinion) perfect (opinion) character (opinion) exist in their video game, she even influenced my battletag.
Don’t get me wrong, I did end up putting some time into the other characters at a later time. But when I started playing the game, I sure as heck wasn’t thinking about playing the aforementioned, you know who I was thinking about playing?
You guessed it, Mei
Now, this was back in the time before she got some of her more substantial buffs, but she was still fun enough to play- But once those buffs did kick in, now we were cookin’ with liquid nitrogen.
Of course now, I might as well talk about the part of Mei that people who aren’t devoted to her know best: That is, people see her in-game as the devil herself. So naturally, as someone who plays her a lot, people don’t like me(i).
Now, personally- And this will sound weird coming from someone such as myself- I don’t really enjoy purposefully making people salty, not just in Overwatch but just in general, or at least that used to be the case, but now I’ve made an exception in that for Overwatch only, because the salt is kinda just inevitable.
So now that I’ve established how much I love to play Mei, and how much people hate to see me play Mei, I can talk about the best part of all.
Her character!
As far as personality goes: Nobody beats her, she’s funny, she’s confident and optimistic, she’s adorable, she can verbally jab someone in the stomach if she needs to (not to a Moira level, but still some good stuff) and of course I can’t leave her little buddy Snowball out either- I love the way they interact in emotes, victory poses, highlight intros, etc.
There’s just so much about Mei to love that it’s really, really overwhelming at times, her lore’s really neat too- Nothing elaborate, but not simple to the point where it’s boring: Just a sad story of a Climatologist who miraculously avoided the same fate that be-felled her colleagues, who continues to move forward despite awakening in a very, very different world, in the company of her small robot friend.
Mei is just an… A-Mei-Zing, character! To sum it all up, and I’m glad to have another opportunity to post an essays worth of propaganda promoting her as a character.
Tl;Dr: If I asked who would I play, if I could only play one character in Overwatch: I would respond with “Mei” without a moments hesitation.
Anyone who’s considered thicc, Zenyatta , Junkrat and Mcree
Reaper that is for sure, and Moira, I wanna know more about them and especially cause they have been working together in multiple organisations for 8+ years now. And the fact she made Reaper the way he is, is just

I never heard of “Throwverwatch”… Should I look it up or will I lose braincells, as well as regret it with every ounce of my being? XD
They do say “Curiosity is what Kills the Cat” a lot… (-w-)"
