If there has been an instance, where can I find Overwatch themselves, aka the devs, talking about hero classes and roles?
What do you exactly mean by hero classes and roles? Also, have you checked my directory which is stickied in this forum? Many great posts are linked there.

Thanks and I am talking about in terms of support, tank, and DPS, if there have been any devs who said specifically what each role is intended to do.
Eh… sort of. Prior to combining the Offense and Defense classes into what is now known as the Damage class, the developers have stated that classes were merely a guideline for new players on what heroes they should pick based if they were attacking or defending on a map.
