Do you believe they would listen in competitive? Or arcade? I do not know, using bad actors who are dead set on throwing as an example for how the term is largely used is disingenuous as far as I am concerned. I am sure there are some creatures out there that use it as a shield. But the percentage of them relative to a normal person trying to chill? That’s got to be quite the discrepancy, I imagine.
And let’s just say I am completely wrong and the vast majority of people use it as an excuse to throw. So what? It is pretty clear that quickplay attracts a thrower demographic and the most reasonable way to avoid that is to not play the mode where people throw for fun.
Play with chat off, people are probably toxic but i can’t see it and i couldn’t care less, for me it’s tryhards and 1sided stomps ruining qp, especially widowmaker shouldn’t exist, delete her game is instantly improved
Which only counts as 1 report if all in a single game so…
You really do when they have made heroes that counter other heroes so hard that it forces you to swap to play the game. Ana vs. Mauga/Hog, Mauga/Orisa vs. Hog, Rein/Monkey vs. Zarya, Hazard vs. (well, any other tanks at the moment), etc.
You can’t expect people to have much fun, in the tank role at least, if the hero they want to play can easily be countered by a swap, especially if they can be bullied by a support with a no-brain “throw it somewhere near the tank” ability.
Eight years was plenty of time for all the casual players to move on from the game between Lore/PVE content becoming more sparse and lower quality and the incessent push to try to make the game a Competitive E-Sport Videogame for VideoGamers™, resulting in balance decisions that made the game itself less casual friendly over time.
Not quite. Blizzard made a decision to push Overwatch in a heavily competitive direction. This slowly eroded the more casual playerbase, leaving us with people screaming at teammates for playing incorrectly in QP as the OP mentioned.
It’s QP. It doesn’t matter what character you use. As long as you’re trying to win, that’s good enough for me.
Well, I mean, you can do whatever you want. I just believe it is silly.
It’s definitely not fun. But I have seen plenty of tanks swap for my Reinhardt, and then swap again. It’s just pathetic and has nothing to do with Blizzard. A beta is a beta.
Who does Rein have as a hard counter since the armour changes and shield buff? I don’t think anybody? Sure, he has tanks that are better than others against him, but he’s in a pretty good place right now in 5v5 and has no hard counters. Of course you don’t HAVE to swap off him because the other tank swaps.
In my experience, it’s almost always someone feeding and then being like “chill” when people get annoyed enough to say something. They aren’t always afk but they are usually not with the team. That and one tricks being countered by multiple people and getting nothing done.
I almost never hear “it’s just Quickplay” from people who are performing reasonably well.
I don’t expect sweaty gameplay in QP either. I do expect at least some attempt to win the match rather than “just chilling” specifically by refusing to use bare minimum teamwork and just doing whatever they feel like in the moment.
Yeah, that’s not happening. I find the supports are the most unwilling to change. I’ll switch then suggest supports play kiri or ana or whatever depending on the tank and I usually just get toxicity in return or “it’s qp bro”. So many games with comps like lucio+mercy into mauga or, a couple of games ago, junk+hanzo into pharmercy, with toxic responses when I point out we might do better with a hitscan.
Last game was a mercy duo with a sojourn who got completely toxic, even after the game ended, when I asked if she could heal the rest of the team as she was attached to sojourn 100% of the time and diving in to rez and dying the moment her duo died.
They usually try Rammatra or Orisa and once that fails they try the opposite. Rammatra works against me if my healers are a bit slow.
I do not swap off of any tank I play because I am not beta. I know you are into Hog. I will play Piggie Smalls into Mauga, Mei, Reaper, Ana, Zen. If I clicked the hero it’s because I wanted to play it.
I think that less than ideal comps or unskilled play is the only time “it’s just Quickplay” is acceptable. Quickplay is supposed to be more casual and a good place to learn, so in ideal world where it shouldn’t have the same competitive standard as Comp.
But there’s a difference between “I want to play Mercy even though we have Lucio” and “I am a DPS with 2 kills and 15 deaths, twice as many deaths as the next person and literally doing nothing.”
That’s too extreme and at that point, yes, you should swap. And if you won’t, then you are messing with your team and they have every right to be angry with you. This doesn’t give them the right to harass you, but asking you to swap is or respectfully expressing their displeasure is perfectly reasonable.
Acceptable does not mean you were asked. It’s whether or not an action is something likely to bother others. And given the vast amount of annoyance it causes to many others and the numerous threads from the fallout of that annoyance over the years, I’m clearly not alone in that sentiment.
Well they decided to force the average player into RQ and 5v5 when the majority never asked for this. They kept babying the support role by adding insane aoe healing and invulns, all of which has essentially killed the game.
They literally took the fun out of it, partly due to whiny complainers who just can’t handle dying in PVP games.
I mean I still prefer the sweatier close qp matches to easy stomps, progression systems like bp, bad match making , forced modes like flash clash trash in comp make comp players like me chill in qp, mind you I’m still chilling but its too hot for you all.
I even make my own challenges like not use crosshair or audio at times.
