pretty much any DPS that cant one shot or 2 shot is still irrelevant because of brig
So that is what 3 of them? Lol dmg creep is real and Brig is a joke. No way you can blame anything on her these days she’s barely relevant at all.
I think the drop started with the Mercy rework and reached a peak with Brig’s addition. So many Youtubers quit around that time…
Yeah, you’d think with all the moaning and crying when heroes are reworked that they’d stop, but then Hanzo, Symmetra and Torb got the same treatment and it just hasn’t felt the same since.
Its a mix of her damage mitigation and sustain creep with ana and moira having 130HPS
The release of Doomfist was the end of Overwatch’s golden age
The release of 2-2-2 was the end of the silver age
The release of Echo is the final nail in the coffin
For me it was during Mercy Re-work. That day I lost a hero and never once, ONCE have I touched the hero because of how bad she is and still becomes.
Followed by the gamers complaining about bantering among games and the sudden adding of 2-2-2 with the Classic QP as a means to please the causal.
She really disappointed me with that DPS drop. I felt like backing out of the stream after seeing that she wasn’t in the support category because I just didn’t care
One more thing… I love new heroes, I really do, but it seems like their kits are very crowded.
I cant believe that Echo has 3 damage dealing abilities (without counting all the possibilities her ult brings) and heroes like Pharrah and Tracer only have 2 each, ults included.
I wish new heroes were a little simpler in their design.
Echo should’ve been a flying healer with sticky bombs as her primary fire but with obvious balance changes, her abilities and ultimate could’ve then been support based.
Was t that like right after release?
I think we’re in the Golden Age. Balance is good, we have Role queue, hero pools, map pools, Echo was just released & OW2 is on its way
It’s not just the fact that she isn’t a support, she’s naturally a better Pharah that can turn into a tank with massive ultimate charge… she is a Reinhardt’s worst nightmare.
I definitely agree.
I’m not upset that Echo herself is a dps, I can live with that. I just wish they had saved her for OW2 and released a new support hero instead.
But he was reworked in a hero that’s actually strong and considered viable even at the top level?
Season 2 maybe?
A long time ago for sure.
The latest ding, though, came from the 2/2/2 role lock. You can see it on Twitch. Overwatch pitches from being ranked 8-10 to more like 13-17, and while that’s just 5+ placements, it’s a much bigger hit in number of viewers to move those placements.
I never thought this game was special for competition, even though it was for sure a great casual game. But it seems it took people a while to realize that. Only people who follow Blizzard like a messiah now think the comp system is flawless…Blizzard themselves don’t even think that.
Maybe it also was when people realized that the OWL wasn’t the end all be all. I don’t think it was a mistake to launch the OWL, but the way it was done was expensive and top down. A big risk. And Fortnite has pretty much won the esports battle during the same period of time.
Many reasons for that, hindsight is 20/20. I just don’t know what Blizzard does now with their imbalanced characters and seemingly declining player base. It’s an old game, though it was a big success. I don’t think limiting player characters, maps and roles is all that brilliant, and avoids the hard work of making more support and tanks, and balancing the game.
But that’s hard work. Limiting choices was easier. It is just pretty obvious now that it hasn’t saved this game.
Season 1 was the golden age. It was new, rough, unbalance, it was like the wild west. everything was possible. It was frustrating but also rewarding, it was 3 winstons + 3 lucios but also millions of possible setups that all were exciting and new.
It just went downhill from there.
Probably yes.
I find both sym reworks made her better and better, modern teleport is great ability, maybe they could keep it and rework her once again for even better result.
Hanzo rework turned random crap scatter arrow into nice burst ability and improved hero overhall.
Torb rework made him more consistant and less dependent on his turret so i like they moved away from TF2 model which didnt work in OW as good.
And mercy rework definitely made her better hero.
Overwatch lived in 2016 and died in 2017. I was so looking forward to all those lore, story & characters and now it is OWL this, OWL that, OWL, OWWWL and moar OWL.
I personally would say when they added Comp, as that’s when Toxicity in players started in this game. Most will say with the Creation of OWL, and Forcing Overwatch to become an “E-sport” instead of letting it evolve into it.
