Whats up with these DPS players?

I personally just had a Bronze match where this guy was playing Mei, and kept putting walls in front of our own spawn doors to make it harder for teammates to leave spawn. Someone suggested reporting him, and then he started calling people the N word in the chatbox. As if that wasn’t enough, he also got in voicechat and kept asking “did anyone report me??” over and over again, and threatened that if he was reported and/or nobody spoke up, he was going to throw for the rest of the match. We still won, and honestly I don’t see this behavior very often in my matches, but it was still ridiculous.

I’m going to just comment on the first part.tanks can most definitely take space without dps pressure.

This is why i stopped playing support, its such a fun role but man…the DPS, the DPS, the DPS. I mean the tanks are bad too but you can make up for that. If they throw out a shield here and there and you can somewhat use it then they are still useful. But DPS if they are legit useless there is no way around it. I mean you can still get by with minimal healing…you know if you dont rush at the enemy like a raging bull. There is a reason health packs exist

Yup, this.

Getting better support stats than ever. 35-41% healing.

But losing as the enemy dps are better.

It’s a simple numbers game. I can heal 19k in a match. But if enemy has pumped 76k damage into the team then not a lot I can do.

(Yup, only 25% healing there).

Just got five golds on Moira, and got card for healing 37% of team damage taken, but still lost as we had dead weight dps.

Reminds me of the time a DPS-tank duo flamed me for not healing with like 5k healing done and we lost then i immediately won the next game without them and had 17k+

When you are getting hit with 6 sources of damage, its sort of a “you’re already dead” sort of thing my healing cant undo that damage. It takes so long just to heal one tank all the way. Support is suuuuper fun and its sad i just cant play it cuz im tired of losing. I climbed to like 2.3-2.4k sr (cant remember) then after that i just lost and lost

I think they will run out box to handle out soon.
Most tank/healer now are just dps main.
No matter how hard you block/heal damage, if one of your dps not doing good as other team did, you lose.
So, sooner or later someone is going to have master SR for dps and gold/lower SR for tank/healer. It’s just how fast those number of players going to increase.

In the end, you are getting bad dps to play with and dps main player are getting bad tank/healer. Look around this forum, did you see any major post out there hail how good 222 system is?

Major post not really, i saw some guys say they love it cuz they have been climbing better. Dont know if thats cuz of the bugs or like what. But i agree whenever im on support i get bad DPS whenever im on DPS the other 2 lack. I dont think its cuz im bad or anything cuz i have been climbing on DPS cuz im a beast at soldier and dont need a healer anyway. But when im not on soldier i can feel it.

The incentives also hurt the game more cuz people will just play off roles for the crate

Imo, big reason dps so important at low elo is that tanks and support depend far more on teamwork.

And that is sorely lacking at low elo.

Even if other roles lacking, dps can make plays themselves. Just press triangle, and boom, quad kill potg.

I just despair as a support as I watch Hog flank right, Rein goes middle and other three team members flank left.

Sticking together and having any semblance of a plan almost never happens. Then it’s basically death match, and dps are going to do better there.

They can, but I’m still saying that it is a dps job aswell.

This is what I experienced for a while before the role lock. I could heal my wings/orbs/nano’s off and it still amount to nothing because the DPS would either take more damage than I (and sometimes the second support if we had one) could heal them for, or they would just run off to flank by themselves away from everyone and die almost immediately. Then I would go junk next game and start killing 4 of the enemy only to have my team swap off from heals or tanks to go 3rd or 4th DPS and not say a thing until it was to late.

Well not quite i mean you can still make meaningful plays on stuff besides DPS that will contribute to winning. For example i was playing support and had a doomfist who right out the game i knew had to be smurfing. The minute we switched to defense he targeted me within the first few seconds of the round. I was playing ana in the backline. I saw this and immediately switched to brig. I knew he would cause hell for us in the later stages of the match. Which he did getting a penta off a zharya ult combo. But in the end we won cuz he didnt have a great time stomping us like he thought cuz i switched to brig.

Its little stuff like that which make a difference. Me switching to brig to 1. stun him and disrupt his plays and 2. Effectively heal without worrying about him targeting me helped. Because none of my DPS went a character who could CC him.

Other roles can matter in low elo, just people only have half a brain.

Sure.

But matchmaker feeling rotten right now.

Start of last season I was low plat and had a 60% win rate with Lucio, even though all my stats were terrible and healing topped at 25% damage taken.
Lost sr on other roles to 2300.

This season I’ve picked up Moira again and consistently managing 35-41% damage healed.
I’m also out healing enemy healers almost every game.

My elims and damage are also a lot better.

But I keep on losing. I’m on circa 33% win rate and dropping.

Pbsr thinks I’m good. I’m gaining 26+ sr on wins and losing 11-12 sr on losses.

But, in almost every loss, enemy dps more impactful than mine.

Final game last night. Moira on Busan.

5 golds (irrelevant)
24-2 kd (good, but maybe too passive?)
37% healing achieved. Damn relevant.

Sure, I made mistakes. But I shouldn’t have to play utterly flawlessly in order to scrape wins 500 sr below where I was winning games despite playing badly.

All I can think of is mmr matchmaker. My MMR is high (as shown by my pbsr low losses) and system expects me to carry crap dps of the same sr.

Sadly, I can’t.

There’s a reason that when a person boosts a friend 1000 sr lower that the more skilled one dpses (eg silver Mercy and plat Pharah).

Dps is more impactful.

There’s something busted when I keep on losing despite out healing all other supports in the match and pulling out good damage and elim stats.

When my Genji just goes in 1v6 and dies all the time whilst enemy Junkrat gets a triple kill in five seconds with five buttons pressed, kinda hard to make up that dps skill differential.

I feel like I need to play totally flawlessly to win in silver, whereas in plat I was terrible and won as my dps carried me.

Tldr, dps queue time is so long as dps far more impactful at winning the game.
You’re also less affected by crap team mates as you can operate more independently than tanks or support, which are team based by nature of their roles.

If i wait 10 mins to play dps you bettet belive i pick what i want to play as i Q for it. Even if it does not get your approval i never tell tanks or supports what to pick and expect the reverse. Why should i pick what you want me to play when i am the one with the long Q time?

Because the whole point is swapping to something that counters or isn’t countered by what the other team is running. Otherwise you’re basically just feeding ult charge to them everytime they inevitably kill you over and over again.

Also, Tanks have 8 heroes, Supports have 7. There’s less for us to swap to, but we still do. You guys have 16 heroes that do a WHOLE LOT of different stuff that can help.

This mentality is ridiculous.

There’s a reason for the selfish dps stereotype.

Heck, I’m thinking of just one tricking Torb every game. I love that goofy lunk.

I can watch YouTube videos whilst I queue.

Starting to feel that no matter how good, or bad, I play on support, it’s almost irrelevant as best dps wins.

That’s not Tanks and Supports fault…

“WHATS UP WITH THESE DPS PLAYERS?”
I almost thought you were gonna ask how you can improve as DPS. But nah, it was just like I predicted, its a tank/healer player who waits to be carried by others and makes QQ posts on forums. If you actually wanna get better ranks make a post asking for help and provide at least some kind of material to work with (ie. VODs, not “omg I have 6 golds every game but my team throws every game”)

True I am more on the healer side of role lock than anything else but I don’t expect to be carried. What I expect is for people to play the game and not throw because they’re not feeling special enough while the rest of the team is working our tails off doing our best. The “advice” is appreciated but not the problem of this post.

Moira is a scapegoat hero. It comes with the territory of playing her. You have to turn off chat if you want to play scapegoat heroes.

Thats fair, I just dont like doing that because theres some people who can only be in chat and actually trying to make callouts and not throw, but its looking to be the best option right now.
