What would make you quit OW?

If they continue to lock core contents behind time or paywall.

Heroes Lock (newer often are meta defining and stronger which often aren’t addressed on their first 3-6 months in the game)
Modes lock (eventually)
Maps Lock (eventually)

Also they keeping making the game monetization first gameplay second. Instead of making a good game and work on a monetization system around it they’re making a monetization system and adapting the game to work with that system.

One focus on gameplay and adapt monetization around it, the other the monetization dictate the gameplay. Like Hero Lock being done behind bp and paywall instead of being broadly available since it’s launch, one of the core things that made OW be OW. Secondly game modes and maps are going through the same process, considering they’re doing that on their “starter initiative” locking maps, heros and modes behind requirements is only natural for them to make those eventually on battlepass.

You should spend time playing a game because you enjoy, not because you need to play to unlock core stuff.

Not being able to play d.va probably.

Hardcore OW fan huh? :smirk:

Oof I didn’t consider this :skull:

These challenges may do it for me.

It’s not a conscious decision, but if these challenges burn me out I’m dropping this game really quickly.

Everything is so bad that this is the only thing now holding me in the game.

I will be just back to paladins being vivian main.

Is only a matter of time, they have precedent on newer accounts and their Roadmap showed some hints of it. Also some announcements of them also certain “tendencies” of that to happen.

OW2 becoming more like what live OW is which is essentially making all the same mistakes is probably the only thing that can make me quit.

If grinding actually becomes necessary for success in the game, to the point that more time is spent grinding instead of just having fun. And if there was no way to buy your way out of that grind, and/or if the cost to buy your way out is clearly over inflated and unreasonable. Then I’d just call it quits.

OR

If the player base just devolves into an unorganized mess, filled with trolls, throwers, and general abusive nonsense because of F2P. Then I’d call it quits.

If tanks and supports stay overpowered and dps diff will be just a meme as it is in ow1.

I’ll pull the ripcord as soon as I realize that all this new Weekly Challenge and Battle Pass garbage is starting to give me burnout.

I honestly miss the times when video games were designed to keep you playing by simply being fun instead of trying to brainwash you with jedi mind tricks :weary:

The removal of Total Mayhem. It’s the 1 arcade mode that still keeps me around. I do hope that the PvE is good though.

I’m begrudgingly sticking around until PvE next year, but if they fumble that then I’m out. Based on these recent decisions and outrageous prices, I’m expecting it though. I’m still optimistic that the PvE missions could be released for free, but the realist in me is also expecting them to be $20 every season, with missions expiring every season so you can’t even go back to play old ones you liked. Maybe we can get “lucky” and PvE missions will unlock on the free track of the battlepass as well the heroes.

Looking heros is making me quit

I’m almost at this point now. I’m willing to try the new heroes, and I love the lower CC. I absolutely loathe the hero locks, phone verification and awful monitization.

Source? I’m curious because it’s my favorite mode and I would be extremely sad if it were to vanish.

probably stop updating for the second time OW, have a 2019-2022 period again with no active updates, no events, no lore and above all too much undeserved enthusiasm for an e-sport that exists without a game. Ow2 has the arduous task of overcoming these inconveniences, I wish him all the luck (if any).

But if there is an OW3 proposal within just 4 years ad ow2 … goodbye. no chance anymore. the average life of a blizzard game was a decade and already OW1 has failed with this expectation. same Heroes of the storm, actually.

Getting tired of grinding the Battle Pass. I lasted 2-3 seasons on Apex before being fed up with it.

To be continued on PVE Overwatch  ! I guess you won’t be playing PVE :p…

That might be a thing for PVE but I don’t think it will for PVP. Players not getting new heroes at the same time is already big enough of a liability on PVP and it will only get worse over time when people start playing OW2 a year or two from now.

Only time will tell. The next disruptive thing to come is weakening / removing the counter-picking system of Overwatch. That could be the next thing breaking the original game concept.

As all of us should. That’s also why I left Diablo Immortal after a month only. I’m not wasting more than a thousand bucks on a F2P game ever again (done that once on a mobile game 6 years ago - won’t happen ever again).

If they stopped PvE. I loved the casual side of Overwatch. It’s what brought me into the game back in 2016.

My answer is this:

I uninstalled on the announcement and if they have no intentions of going back on it. I am out. I will file my FTC complaint and my AG complaint. Call it a day and leave. Not like it means much, but they should at least have to feel the sting for ripping people off and turning the game into the Country Club Golf Course.
