Hi, I am a OW player who has been following this game for years and frankly I hate the way it is going. I am a tank player and so far it looks like they took all the enjoyment from the tank role and support role and just gave it all to the Damage role. I dislike the 5 v 5 change because it is going to cause Tanks just to be focused down and not be able to make any impact in the game. It also looks like they are turning away from the whole thing that makes OW what it is and that is a MOBA play style. It seems like they are trying to change it into something that is like EVERY SINGLE FPS. Honestly them abandoning the current game for 3ish years and then completely changing the direction of the game does not tickle my fancy. I wont be playing OW 2 if it is like how we saw it in the Pro’s testing OW 2 live stream because frankly it just seems boring like the lifeless husk of what OW was.
What is your take on the matter?

It looks bad enough that it’s making me want to reinstall to play Overwatch before it’s gone forever. Pretty dire

Honestly I agree and in the state and how long OW 1 has been abandoned even that is difficult to enjoy.

The balance looks terrible, ngl. I hate CoD so I am really worried about ow2.
Graphic wise looks cool.
Cant wait to get more heroes and maps.
But I trust Blizzard, OW1 is crazy fun even without new content. They can fix the balance.
PS: polish wise OW is so good in console (ps4), really thank u Blizzard. I know ow2 will be very good too for ps4/ps5

I mean, the DPS role is a priority because the game’s main target audience are DPS players for their FPS game. It kinda makes sense for them to make this role fun and engaging.
But I don’t think 5v5 will make the other roles any less fun. Tanks will no longer have a second tank to worry about, no more failed synergies there. Many tanks are also getting pretty hefty reworks that will make them more fun and engaging to play. Almost like big DPS characters that can soak up and dish out damage.
Support mains are getting upset at healing nerfs, even though it was inevitable because there’s now one less person per team, which means more focused healing on other members of the team, which means too much healing.
I’m a dps player (genji mainly) and it looks terrible. Sombra is too strong, tanks suck even more, and support got the biggest nerf ever.

I… am not thrilled. Even if this isn’t a final product, it is indicative of where the game is going, and as I suspected all along, it doesn’t look like something I’ll be very interested in. If I want to chase that TDM type of feel, I’m going to play Halo, or CoD, or Titanfall, or Destiny… there’s no shortage of shooters out there, even those with classes now. I’m not going to waste my time on a game that abandoned what set it apart to make a measly attempt to chase after the high of other titles.

Tank main here. And I can’t lie, did not get a good feeling from the demo. The announcers were regulalrly commenting through the match about how much faster tanks were dying. Sombra and Reaper were tearing through everything. Sombra practically solo killed a Rein in under 2 seconds.
Reducing CC is nice, but it doesn’t help tanks much when they die THAT fast. They looked helpless if even mildly focused.
Maps so far look great, not a fan of the soulles minimalist UI.

I don’t like the DPS favoritism, BUT
I would be fine with the changes if the Devs reworked weapon mechanics on Support and tanks to be more FPS and less unreliable. That to me is the biggest thing holding OW2 back.
Disappointed CC reductions haven’t gone far enough.
Scared problematic spikes of damage won’t be addressed.
Other than that looks meh. Can’t feel too strongly either each way.
I’m still quite apprehensive, and I don’t think anything will change that short of having a prolonged trial period with the game myself. I’m worried about tanks and supports in particular.
For tanks I’m afraid they will just get burst down and deleted like can happen on live. Having a second tank to alternate defenses with evens out the spikes in damage so much or provides some peel for the back line. Even though over the course of a fight a 2nd tank may add more damage, it is the bursts that kill and a good D.Va or Zarya provides so much help in surviving those bursts. For Rein I’m worried about the extra dps speed and the lack of a front line for him to really push into. For D.Va I’m worried about how much matrix bypassing damage there is. If they want tanks to be more aggressive, then the tanks need to survive being aggressive. They already do a ton of damage when they are able to get into their effective ranges.
For supports they just seem like they will have a giant target painted on their backs for flankers to continually kill off as well as significantly less peel to help them out. A big part of what makes support fun is saving your allies. Mercy on that patch was putting out only slightly more healing than a Zen orb. For a lot of supports, their healing is what makes their kit fun but the flat healing reduction in combat plus the already reduced healing values seems overkill and just takes away a lot of their impact but they also haven’t seemed to gain anything in return. Even though the flat in-combat reduction isn’t likely going to stay it is still a very worrying direction that they are pushing the game in.
I did like the direction of the Sombra/Bastion reworks, though Sombra looked and sounded to be quite broken with her 3s hack cooldown.
I really don’t like the new UI. I think the current one looks a lot cleaner.
As a support player who dabbles in tanks, my opinions have changed quite a bit recently.
From “OW2 is going to be an overhyped $60 update that will be too little, too late to fix the damage done by our current content drought”
To “OW2 is actively destroying all of the things that made OW1 enjoyable to me, and I am dreading the day of its release.”
As a person with poor vision, I used to be concerned that with the new UI I’ll be able to play maybe two or three matches before the visual clutter and lack of cohesion started giving me headaches. Now I’m less concerned about that because I don’t think I’ll want to play two or three matches.

Well, the game looks pretty. Beyond, not liking what I’m seeing all that much.
Getting together with the Overwatch group tonight. A big chunk of the past few sessions has been figuring out what game we change to when OW2 launches. Discussion will probably continue.

Maps look great but the recent reworks one is good meanwhile not so much for the other. Probably should’ve seen another Tank change plus a Support change by now. It’s okay right now but there needs to be more done
I was really hyped for the game, but everything I’ve been seeing makes it look worse and worse. As a support player who also enjoys tanking, it feels like the game is no longer for me. The changes they’re making to the support role make me physically ill. The changes to tanking make me sad. If it’s anything like the exhibition match then I won’t be playing it.
I’m cautiously optimistic. I have my concerns; I don’t like OW2 Zarya as she stands, and I’m leery about this in-combat healing penalty they’re trying out.
Still, I don’t think the obstacles are insurmountable, and I’m willing to reserve final judgement for after I actually play it.
Looks fine to me.
Push looks great, 1 less tank will help Q times.
Most players have their graphic settings turned down so commenting on that is hypocritical…

Can’t wait to play it!

The current balance of OW 2 looks questionable but this is likely a snapshot of OW 2, after these pros feedback and negativity toward the sequel, they are asking for a dead game upon arrival if they don’t rethink the balance.
