I find it so weird they just shipped perks into the entire game with 0 testing. It feels rushed and more fit for something in the arcade mode. I think it will add balancing issues down the road (much like passives [which i find pretty useless]).
I can see this being a fun game mode, but not a fan of it in the core game.
Weird they didn’t ask their playerbase about this and kinda just shipped it, yet 6v6 (which a lot of the players want) requires month long tests before they add it even (maybe) add as a quick play option.
Hate to talk down on it because they are trying something new, I’m just not a fan and don’t really like how they went about adding this with 0 feedback and tossed it into every game mode.
editing to add after reading replies: you lose your perks when you switch heroes which I feel like deters anyone from switching? that just sounds horrible? I get not being thrown into all your perks when you switch but also to get them all back it just feels like a horrible mechanic. Also for Mystery heroes if you die you lose perks and the other team is stacked on their perks so it causes a dominating team to be even more dominating and whoever dies is always trying to pl ay catch up. Yuck…

It’s about what you’d expect from a thing that was shipped not because they wanted, but because they had no choice.

I assume you’re talking about making a big change to bring in new players/returning players.
I think there’s a lot of other stuff they could’ve done, because I, an existing player, will probably not spend money on the battlepass this season. I assume I am not alone in this.
Stadium honestly looks cool, and I think that could bring in new/returning players. But making a huge change like perks, even after all the 5v5 vs 6v6 debates. That’s just crazy to me.

they take to long to obtain, i rarely manage to get the last perk and when i get is like for 30 to 50 seconds before the end of the match

Tracer’s perks are a QOL. She’s so good now…
if i had a choice between perks or 6v6 2-2-2 role queue w/o perks i think i would have picked 6v6 role queue lol…
hmm

I find them fun. The progression of the match feels fresher. Sometimes you or a teammate is underperforming and the perk changes things just enough.

No, Perks make dominating teams even better at an earlier time. So that they can dominate even more.

Some heros have flat out better perks than others and some of them were stronger to begin with already. Like giving soj her 1 shot back during overcharge with absolutely no downsides.
Some perk choices are really stacked in one direction like juno being able to crit for 180 total dmg or… an extra jump.
It’s fun though, but it’s only been a couple of hours.
On a positive note… I guess positive, switching feels pretty punishing. I played a koth game where the enemy tank kept switching and never unlocked their major perk and you could feel it.

What I mean is that this would’ve never been shipped in the pre-MR era:
– Too risky, too unsafe and businesses don’t like risks
– Too much work if they want to do it properly (I give them that, it’s indeed a lot of work)
– Most of all, there is no clear way of monetizing it, so why bother
So in the end they pushed it out the gate half-baked because they needed an answer for MR and now that the competitor is there, none of the arguments above hold water any longer.
In the end we got what we got: half-baked stuff with a lot of filler perks, unclear impact on the game and undecided lifecycle. It’s also under question if they will manage to evolve it in a meaningful way or balance it because they’ve just exponentially increased the amount of knobs, checks and balances they have to consider and they weren’t doing a good job even before perks.

I knew I was going to be running Life Cycle + Superbloom on LW, but what I didn’t expect is for Life Cycle to actually be my favorite of the two
For real though it makes him so BEEFY. I can be so much more aggressive and I love it.
I do still love Superbloom though. I actually got POTG on my second match featuring a Superbloom kill hhhhhhh
Some heroes have really underwhelming perks compared to others. Some perks, like cleanse on Lifeweaver grip and Soldier: 76 being able to reload while sprinting, should’ve been balance adjustments made to buff weaker heroes. Meanwhile Tracer gets a major perk to grant all 3 blink charges back after using recall which is a huge game changing perk that alters her game play loop.

I haven’t had the chance to try them in a match, but mechanically, I find Kiri’s perks rather disappointing.
Urgent Care - I tested this on the range, and I really can’t tell the difference. It might lead to some won fights, but I doubt anybody’s going to notice why.
Fortune Teller - Basically just takes some of the pressure off to prioritize healing, which could be fun.
Shuffling - I don’t know when I’d even use this, except maybe when Swift Stepping into a bad situation by accident. “Hi! Bye!”
Fox Trot - They’re just looking for more things for Suzu to do at this point.
The main thing I’m unhappy about is that none of Kiri’s perks really seem to change or enhance her gameplay much. None of them encourage you to be bolder or do something different than you normally would. Maybe I’ll change my mind with practice, but just comparing any of these to D.Va’s Shield System, the difference is pretty obvious.
Why couldn’t they let her go “poof” and replace herself with a log when attacked?

I thought those stupid perks were for competitive only. Seeing it in QP…I don’t like them at all. The so called days of an even playing field is over. The diamond and above people in silver /gold QP are going to have a field day with this.

There is basically no hero swapping now, because perks reset when you change heroes…
