I would love to play Doomfist more often. He gets shut down so hard and fast, most of the time I end up swapping because I know I would be more effective on the tanks I have played more.
My win rate is around 50%, but attempting to learn how to play in less then optimal situations will normally piss off your team.
I guess Doomfist is for people who knew how to play Doomfist the moment they selected him with zero practice.
It wouldnât be my first game, how do you think I know how easy it is.
Not a single part of his kit is hard to land or get kills with, if you cannot get use out of his big hitboxes, spread, stuns, and cc, you are just bad.
I suppose he is fun to play, and also he can be played around bastion, unlike winston for example.
Heâs a good tank to choose if you want to have âimpactâ by getting picks by yourself sometimes as well.
Imo doom games are fun-its a lot of fun to play against and with good doom players.
Everything in his kit feels fair.
imo everything in his kit is very telegraphed and relatively easily dodgeable.
I just blame myself most of the time if I get killed by him - rarely it feels like âbsâ.
The worst feeling part about his kit to me is the slow from his ult. But Iâll take is as the ult is not that great generally.
Itâs also about supports - you often can heal people through his combos if you are just reacting fast enough.
This is disproven by his performance in high ranks and beyond. If everything in his kit was easily dodgeable, the best players wouldnât have such a hard time dodging them.
You cannot easily dodge his abilities due to their giant hitboxes and him being able to release the punch before itâs fully charged and still getting a stun off.
Dunno, I really dont mind him at all.
And even if i play qp mostly, i run into gm - t500 doomfists etc pretty regularily and its just fun.
He is in top 3 tanks for me in the game in âfun factorâ.
I dont watch many streamers, some i do, just âgive upâ trying to fight a doom for no reason imho.
It might be that Iâve played qp for 7 years and Doomfist was played in QP in every-single-game as well, in ow 1.
And the DPS doomfist was a lot tougher to deal with movement wise.
Some maps youâd just play looking at the sky wondering that âfrom which weird angle is he going to manifest this time?â - and hope for the best.
You can personally feel however you want but the fact of the matter is that he wouldnât be nearly as popular as he is and be performing so well, even in high ranks, if his entire kit is as telegraphed and as easy to dodge as you say.
Hard to say. There also is one misconception going around about his rocket punch I think - many think that his hitbox gets bigger if its charged up, but that is not the case.
Some gm streamers even thought that - âyou cannot dodge it because the hitbox is so bigâ.
But it just creates an aoe effect on impact, the punch itself has the same size regardless of his charge.
It is kind of unintuitive though.
All his hitboxes are comically large, nothing on his kit is remotely hard to land except for his ult and only because it has a delay and only for heroes with mobility/invulnerability options. his ult is also a safe escape where he is completely untouchable/targetable so it shouldnât be super strong.
The biggest thing DF players have to learn is the maps and just how crazy his mobility is in order to abuse the maps the best. no matter peopleâs misconceptions, itâs still incredibly easy to land punch and he punishes people for existing near walls.
Yeah, you have to be very mindful about your positioning vs doom. But playing around corners gives you the options to dodge him as well. So it kind of âdependsâ.
Anyways, I guess we both agree that in good hands doom is a strong pick.
I have not played tank doom at all, so i dont have any personal pov to say about it.
I have plans to give it a go though, to see just how much i can feed per 10 mins.
Ill add my personal take, that i dont care at all if the doom punch is charged up or not - i always assume that he is fully charged and play like that.
Some people are too worried about it imo - possibly because of the misunderstanding on the hitbox.
One tricks are lame. Doesnât matter how successful they are. Nothing you or I can do about it so just accept there are those who will stick it out no matter how terrible it is to do so on one hero all the time.
Think of him like the Genji of Tank roles, heâs a bad pick most of the time and like 90% of people donât know how to use him, but his playstyle is fun, thatâs why thereâs a lot of one tricks.
Not sure where youâre going with this tbh. Iâve practiced him a decent amount, even as DPS in OW1, and never said anything to indicate otherwiseâŚ
