Valkyrie plays like a basic ability in an ult slot (with the slowest charge in the game) and res is an ultimate placed in a regular ability slot.
Valkyrie has the same healing as amp it up;
Amp it up = 48hp/s
Caduceuous staff = 50hp/s
Valkyrie has the same range as amp it up;
Amp it up = 10 meter radius around Lucio (soon to be/is now larger)
Caduceous staff = 10 meter bounce radius
Valkyrie also doubles as a worse version of Supercharger;
Supercharger = 50% amplified damage 25m radius around the entity
Valkyrie = 30% amplified damage - is still the caduceous staff.
Nn Mercy’s case it is 5 heroes and 1 buff dispenser, in Orisa’s case its 6 heroes and 1 buff dispenser.
Keep in mind it takes 1950 charge points to gain Valkyrie.
Valk is a basic ability in an ult slot and res is an ultimate placed in a regular ability slot.
these are just my observations, but these are just stats. gameplay wise mercy has been gutted after 13 nerfs (if you count the “”""""""“bug fixes”""""""""") she feels unimpactful, unrewarding and unfulfilling.
it’s trying to be whatever molten core and visor are trying to be. Buffs to her kit. It’s a transformation ult and it just buffs the abilities. Rez is more balanceable as an ability than an ult.
With less weaknesses:
Aoe healing instead of single target
Aoe damage boost instead of single target
Doesn’t need to take cover to regen
Doesn’t need to reload gun ammo
Doesn’t need an ally to position
And that’s why she was watered down because they buffed everything about her and removed multiple weaknesses. So what did they do instead of rethinking this ult? They made her base kit worse to cram valk and rez on e into her kit.
as long as it’s on a regular cooldown (you will ALWAYS get it in 30 seconds, no matter what) there is no real reward for killing her often/playing her well, as a top 500 mercy and a bronze mercy will get ult at the same speed.
even simply adding a rescource meter filled by healing could fix it.
but an ult charge timer is one and also she now resses more per game than she ever used to, and it provides more value as it can negate the first pick in a fight prior to mercy ever even attatching her beam.
honestly I wish they would just test putting her charge gain from 4 points per 5 healing and 2 charge per 3 damage boosted to 1 point per 1 healing and 1 point per 1 damage boosted literally the only healer that gets less than what they do
Mercy: 4/5 and 2/3
Ana and Brigitte: 1/1
Moira: 6/5
Lucio: 19/15
Zenyatta: 33/25
a more appropriate/in context phrase would be, supercharger cannot fly. granted, i already know both things to be true, but unlike mercy orisa still gets to use her gun.
that was my poor oversight…
the lucio comparison was projecting my point that it is INCREDIBLY similar to a pre-existing basic ability, although jeff prides himself on original abilties for each hero.
it isn’t actually. Rez is currently pressing E and hoping it goes while being slowed to an actual crawl. It’s predictable as all hell, it’s not fun, it goes against mercy’s entire kit that is based on mobility.
They could make mass rez balanced with small tweaks. A full rework of mercy was never needed to begin with.
