There is no counter-play. That is why Sombra is one of the strongest picks right now in high rank, together with Doomfist.
If 3 of you get EMP’ed there is nothing to do against the enemy ult-barrage that follows it. The problem I have with EMP is how easy it is to use. It’s basically instant and it goes through barriers and lasts for a really long time. At least against Graviton you can pop supportive ultimates or just hold a shield in front of it to negate the follow up. Against EMP there is nothing.

She has 3rd lowest win rate for the month in GM, and only 2% pick rate.
It would definitely make Sombra more ladder-friendly. Though there exist ladder Sombra players who play her like a cut rate Tracer, and I don’t think that buff would really help them. A lot of people fundamentally misunderstand the hero.
Nothing changed in the last month so the larger data pool is rather more reliable than 3 days of comp the week had.
Why are you using month.
Week is more accurate and in it sombras Winrate is around the middle.
Is it because it doesn’t fit with what you’re trying to say lol

No it’s because the week has 3 days of data and in such a small pool of players isn’t very representative.
There haven’t been any significant changes to the game in the last month, so the larger pool of data is more reliable.
Why do people keep saying this? Like, how?

How is she one of the strongest if:
a) She’s not used often
b) She’s not winning consistently when she’s used
???
I implore you - go Sombra if EMP is very easy to use. 
And give me tips on how to be more effective with her in higher ranks because I’m getting better results with other heroes lol.

3 days? Off season is only 2 days?
Because people care more about word of mouth than stats. At least it has the positive side effect that wont get accused of throwing when you pick her.

Still not a full week of aggregate data in an otherwise already small sample.
Why would you insist on cherry picking the last few days when there wasn’t anything different in that week from the previous month? Not showing what you want it to?
Even mediocre win rates with a low pick rates is a massive stretch to suggest she’s a strong pick.
Good positioning is the proper counter to EMP. Alternatively heroes that are not heavily dependent on abilities, or who can use their abilities in advance (e.g. Soldier can lay down biotic field if he can tell EMP is coming)

It doesnt even really make that much of a difference anyway because her winrate total barely changes. Only the ranking does.
Because it’s not like pickrates can change from just players learning?
E.g Season 8 when Moira was introduced and the mercy nerfs. She was the top healer for a few weeks until everyone realised Mercy was still powerful. Then it went back to mercy being the top pick again.
I don’t think Sombra is op. But saying there’s only 3 days of data is untrue and miseleading. 5 days is still adequate data for the game
Counters: not being clumped up. A well timed defensive ultimate like trancendence. Briggite’s rally should be unaffected and give your team huge sustain. A well timed mei wall.
Not trying to be critical of you OP, but are you looking for a counter after you’ve been hacked? Like your whole team has been hacked? Because that’s a different problem.

It is to play spread out, a lot of maps counter EMP on their own. But in general counter to emp is what counters other similar ults like zarya’s or genji’s for example, you just play spread out.

Healing, armor, strong passives and guns. These will often get you through EMP, unless another ult is thrown on top, then you are indeed in trouble
There is no counter play to EMP.
Sombra can hide everywhere and EMP, the EMP translocator combo in the air or just hiding behind the enemy team and EMP from invisibility.
This take 2 seconds to get out of invisibility and EMP.
What can you do during this 2 second for counter it even if you don’t know where she will decloak ? Nothing ?
She destroy all the shields barrier and health, even Lucio ultimate is dead, she interrupt all the cast like Roadhog or Genji, she destroy all passive like climbing a wall.
So you need another ultimate for counter her. Currently we have Widow ultimate who is pretty strong against her. But Widow is not pretty that good against Sombra …
I have only 3 things for counter an EMP :
- Mass healing : Moira, Ana.
- Your lucky Zenyatta was behind a lamppost during the EMP and he didn’t get hack and he have his ultimate.
- Your Roadhog is a god specialist and hook the Sombra during the cast of the ult mid-air behind you.
- Your Widow make a 360° quick scope headshot before the Sombra even appear.
- Your Lucio is totally stupid but it make you flee from the enemy team after the EMP.
I am a Gm Bastion main and I think Sombra is totally unfun to play against.
Just my opinion but EMP is the most broken ult I never seen with the Nanoblade combo.
