What is Sombra's TRUE place in the Pro Meta currently?

Mehm regardless I don’t even need to acknowledge her in a match and much more so now.

Feels like she has less of a presencea and thats not talking about her stealth aspect but for how long she can stay passive in a match.

I have seen inactive Sombras just watching fights and matches play out without ever having to engage as a throwing spectator camera.

They didn’t play they just watched the havoc and gave up on the team. Some admitted to it as well.

I generally hide close to the enemy team and engage the backline whenever the enemy pushes us.

After a few hours of Sombra 3.0, it’s a different playstyle from Sombra 2.0. And it feels… more opportunistic.

How about we just balance the damn game so then all heroes are “meta” and balanced and it comes down to true skill and the better plays?

Or is that just too wild of an idea?

This is Blizzard we’re talking about.

i’m pretty sure i should not acknowledge this at all, will simply say this, every single game even not just video games, have strategys that are stronger then others and require a type of play style.

hockey back in they day had enforcers big physical guys with limited skill that would simply apply pressure to the other teams star players, wile at the same time protecting their own. as the game changed over the years this was not a strong way to play the game.

overwatch and other class biased games have vastly different heroes with very different skills that all interact with each other differently, to make every hero 100% balanced by definition, you would have to make them all the same.

if that’s what you want go play a different game like halo or call of duty.

I feel like TF2 is very balanced. I feel like this game is “balanced” like Smash Bros is “balanced.”

You can never get a game to it’s most perfect balance. I’m talking about making every hero optimal in their kit so the game becomes about out playing each other. Not what hero is OP for this season to keep people stringing along.

Shes a scout who goes behind enemy lines and feedbacks the location of squishys. She can also note whose flanking which direction.

Also she can see what med packs r being used by enemy members and hack them accordingly

You’re also forfeiting a teammate for that turning it into a 5v6.

I’d rather have the Widow with Infrasight.

Its because Overwatch has more diverse abilities  Plus the playerbase is more casual, we have so many people who never played FPS before, they have no idea about competition. Blizzard decided to create heroes that require a very low amount of skills so that these people can pick them up and get a good feeling about themselves.
In other FPS games these casuals would leave the game at a certain point because it gets harder and harder to have enjoyable matches with their small skillset.
The balance is pretty good for the casual playerbase.
It’s just an illusion thinking every hero will be as good as the others when you want them to be unique at the same time.
If you want all heroes to be as strong as everyone, then you will need to reduce the amount of uniqueness. Do we really want that?

I guess she’s good at stalking the back lines but kinda boring

But with the new pro meta she pretty much controls the flow of the game.

She decides who the team attack. Where they position themselves.

Shes in a very very strong position. In a way a completely new role. I guess you have to enjoy that type of gameplay to pick her up… but she will be winning fights for you… adapt or lose

She sets up for a perfect dive. Her team known where Zen is and when Brigitte has walked away and isn’t protecting him. Then her team dives the vulnerable target she found, she hacks someone and the fight becomes a 6v4.5

Forums :
sombra is underpowered, nobody play her

Contender :
plays Sombra

Even if you consider contenders, thats only like sub 0.001% of the community. You have to hype them up to the holy gospel of game balance, regardless of the fact that they were wrong about Sombra before and screwed her up big time.

I saw Bastion and Reaper both get used in OWL, so they are also fine.

people talk way to much about pick rate as if it is the same as win rate, and even win rate as if it is be all end all, when a missed used powerful hero in the right hands can have a very good win rate, even if most dont find that success.

Top post is now updated having watched all EU games so far. Moving on to the NA games next. After watching 6 games, and 22 maps it seems like whilst there is regular use of Sombra, there are only a couple of spots she’s been the consistent pick.

Eichenwalde attack A has seen a reasonable amount, though all attacks have been easy first push takes without notable hacks to talk about, so it’s kind of inconclusive whether she’s important to the meta there or not.
On Eichenwalde B, with multiple large healthpacks, lots of high ground and the first bridge in such a nice spot for EMPs and offensive translocators, this is the one place she’s been played by both sides on every occasion so far. There’s been a lot of defending at the gate, and that defence has been usually opened up with a little help from an EMP. When they get into the latter part of B her value seems to diminish, but it’s as of yet not been until they reach C that the switch to GOATS/Big Beef has come in.
On Ilios Ruins, Sombra’s value has not seemed to be that much. Not many key hacks, often the first pick, not many final blows by the Sombras. She is however still getting regular play there, no doubt because of the large healthpack to the side of the point. With a surprising amount of No Mercy comps in EU Contenders outside of Big Beef and Slambulance, the extra healing from the healthpacks is what I would say is keeping Sombra meta on Ruins.

Other places have seen occasional use for her, but those 3 are the places she is getting regular use as far as I can see.

You only forfeit a teammate if the sombra player is bad. But that goes for all heroes.

The fact the huge majority of players are not able to do anything with high skill floor heroes doesn’t make them underpowered, people are just underpowered.

exactly, pick rate and win rate is not the be all end all
