I know, it would become more common knowledge to protect your healers and tanks. Sounds fun.
You shouldn’t have to pour all your resources into keeping your tank alive because the enemy team has so much damage though. The tank is supposed to make space for the dps, to pave the way for them to get kills and stay alive. The tank is supposed to play a major role in the protection of their team, not the other way around. Of course this isn’t always strictly true, but for the most part it is.
Why limit it? Also Zenyatta and Ana say hi. (for those who think DPS need to be more mechanically skilled)

That would suck to always be worried about the tank and healer but that’s why you have defense characters and communication. It simply keeps the games active. I strongest arguements I’ve heard against it so far is how it does go against the idea of letting people play how/what they want. it does force a type of meta and that’s not good I guess. I just feel like it’s could be the only way to counter the ever growing passive playstyle the game is slowly attracting.
Passive play style the game is attracting? We have more damage than ever right now, and 3 dps is still just as common as it was previously.
I would sooner stop playing than see 1 healer become meta. It’s not fun being the dps or tank and not getting enough heals, and it’s even worse being the 1 healer under constant pressure of being dived, and the constant pressure of having to heal 5 people by yourself, who are taking damage from 4 dps on the enemy team.

I am not going out of my way to prove to some random person that I am actually a very good player. Also the FACT that the SR system is only as accurate as it can be and some UNLUCKY people get an unfair ranking due to the simple fact that you have NO CONTROL OVER WHAT 5 OTHER PEOPLE CHOOSE TO DO.
What’s your rating?? Is it high? Is your high ranking such confirmation of your own greatness to you that you would ignore literal common sense? That’s fcking SAD yo.

I’m in gold btw, but even I know that you have as much chances as the ennemy team to get bad players. The ennemy team gets matched with bad players too, it’s not just you, and maybe the reason why you’re stuck ina rank is because you fail to see it, and blame your team all the time, instea dof trying to improve yourself

Personally I found this a rather intersting idea, though I think it wouldn’t fit to well into the comp scene it might actually curb the toxicity if even just by a little bit if it were added to comp. Though it obviously won’t be a thing(Or will it

6 healers vs 6 DPS is a draw, no one wins and here’s why
take a turn based scenario like dungeons and dragaons
6 healers vs 6 DPS
each character has 100 HP
each character heals/deals damage of 5 HP.
The healers will always be able to keep up with the DPS.
So DPS and healer amount don’t matter.
And don’t say that Overwatch is not a turn based game, because that is irrelevant.
Honestly… Overwatch kind of is turned based just at a very fast speed…in a sense
Team A engages
Team B counters
Team A adapts to take care of counter manuver
Team B focuses 1 person on team A amd kills them
Team A falls back/gets wiped(Usually)
Rinse and repeat with slightly different outcomes
While all this happens in a matter of seconds it is in itself turn based as the teams constantly adapt to each other adapting tp thier previous adaptions
it took me like a month of minor playing to pull from silver too plat. silver games were literally the ez claps of my life. if your stuck in silver its because you cant carry, and if your a dps who cant carry your at the rank you deserve. its ussally aim that holds dps players back, you can have all the game sense in the world but your better off having mechanical skill as a dps hero. looking at your stats work on your aim and if it gets better i promise you your sr will rise, your critical accuracy is less than 10% as hanzo and just barely touching 20% normal accuracy.
