To be fair to Widow, it should probably only be up to a certain range. It’s not fun getting headshot out of nowhere but if a Widow can headshot you when you’re tiny on her screen, she kind of deserves that in my opinion.
30m? 35? I don’t know what would be considered a reasonable range.

I like the lens flare and dot idea more than the laser beam. It seems a little too unfair for Widow. Not only that, but the beam might be blinding.

A sniper is a sniper. Usually a sniper is hiding waiting to strike. I think the laser idea is not right for this game.
Maybe we should have a hero that can tie a bell around Widow’s neck.

Eh, between the tracer rounds she uses and the “Sniper!” voiceline, I think figuring out where Widow is at any given time is feasible enough.

Even if the widow is flick aiming, it still leads to back to the widow.
Cool stuff, I think they should actually try this on the experimental card and see how she performs.

There’s already the small trail after she shoots. I get what you did, but instead, maybe a lens flare/shine thing like in other fps’s. Or a small dot where she’s aiming at, not a full line. Then when the dot goes on you when she’s >60% charge, you see a red aura, like zar bubbles aura.

I don’t know if she should have a big, trailing “I’m not allowed to be stealthy” laser coming from her gun at all time. She’d be unable to set up a shot while scoped in. And you can’t line up a headshot without being scoped in.
She’s already weak to walls, shields, and people who can dive her and has a trailing after she shoots. Does she really need more weaknesses?
Plus, think of the compensation buff she’d have to get thanks to a hard nerf making her stealth options completely null and void.
The most I’d settle for is a glinting light like in The Last of Us’ multiplayer, or widow’s aim rocking when you shoot her.

Or at least a dot at where he’s aiming. Something like what the Sniper has in TF2. I think a full-on laser every time she scopes in is kinda overkill

The dev team actually made her fair from a gaming standpoint.
IMO, (900 hours gameplay with this character).
She is the world’s most INEFFECTIVE sniper.

Fires a projectile with a Tracer-round (not the hero) which reveals her location. Plenty fair.

Doesn’t bother using a suppressor or a flash hider on her rifle.

“Widow switch” shes bad against barrier comps.
Balance:
- Upward mobility needs improvement.
- Remove built-in smg, with a different side-arm? Pistol?
- Instant scope?
- Reduce Crits?
- Remove scope charge indicator % with a reload % indicator.
Longer charge time, max of 200dmg on full charge crit and some sort of lens flare to give you some warning that she’s looking at you
She’ll still have the bs one shot mechanic people like so much for some reason but there will be room for other hitscans to compete

If it could be coded to maybe appear when she has a charged shot, that would be better for overall balance.

If that were added, you could see death comming, but she’d still be crazy with her oneshot.
I would like a laser sight actually, it’s an idea i’ve had as well

I did a script once with a modified, increased chargerate using variables
If i adjust that script to act like the normal one, and use that as my frame of reference is 100% possible
