I played “realistic,” tactical shooters like R6S, so I thought it was cringe when I saw all my friends playing a cartoony game. It also cost money and wasn’t edible, which meant that it was a luxury I could not afford at the time.
Later on I branched out to games like Smite, Rocket League, and Paladins, which eventually opened me up to less realistic multiplayer games. I found a small streaming community and they would play Overwatch every so often, so I bought the game to play it with them.
Cinematics and Story is what kept me invested in the game outside of those bi-weekly custom game lobbies.
