-Not a fan of the OW2 maps and modes.
-Don’t like most of the OW2 heroes. I think they’re weakly designed and unhealthy for the game. (I like Junkerqueen though.)
-Don’t like the title “Overwatch 2.” It’s literally just Overwatch with a shop and battlepass. Stop kidding everyone.
-I miss LFG, cards and having longer to hit the stay as group button after a match. The sense of community is way colder than what it used to be.
-The game feels so dumbed down. It’s just gotten worse and worse throughout the course of OW2. After playing 6v6 again, I can’t go back to playing 5v5.
ETA: Better add a vote for season 9 changes - that was a major dumbing down of the game that I think should be reverted.
Now, about that “goalpost moving”?
Put me down for matchmaking. Just went 2 wins out of 15 games and I’m just baffled. Is there even an MMR system? If seemingly nothing happens to my Elo after an entire streak of sub 10% winrate, why is it even there?
Heavy handicapping with their matchmaking algorithms ruined not just largely OW but it was also why we quit playing HOTS where it was even worse. The way they have designed it is just not sustainable and is very hostile towards the players themselves, more problematically towards those who are better than the average at the game
That was bearable until 5v5 rolled out, which was just something that made everyone dumbfounded as to why they would even change the format. The only solid reasoning for 5v5 was that removing 2 players made it lighter on hardware, but that altogether would not stand against everything else that was negative about the format. Them changing the format like this is essentially what killed the game for me and all the players on my friendlist/dc. And largely for everyone else playing the game with the only thing floating the game with any numbers at this point being the p2w model and superior gameplay mechanics
There has also been many other issues like toxic hero favoritism that started eating the playerbase out since the first year of gameplay. At first nobody except handful of some players knew what was good and everyone was just playing around and since everyone was bad at the game it was fine that everything was rather unbalanced. But beyond the first year things started to deteriorate heavily. Pick Junk? Get flamed. Pick Sym? Get flamed. Pick Bastion? Get flamed. Pick any hero not in the top 12 heroes? Get flamed. Everyone getting the flamethrower out there just because the management decided to prevent devs from keeping things balanced regardless of the hero at hand. This hostility masked in sheeps clothing of “whoa but look at these gold/plat numbers!” made the game worse and worse as meta tightened the noose around the game’s neck and siphoned life from it peaking at Gravdragon power 9 meta or even worse when Sigma was released in a godly state that made him the best iteration of any hero in the entire history of the game’s lifespan to this day, being so good it would’ve cleared even solo tanks at their 5v5 peaks. And it took them 1,5 years to balance him
OW is just old news at this point. You mention the game and everyone mocks it and makes fun of it, probably shifting towards calling the devs/management and the company names referring to shoesize jokes etc. OW2 is just them getting the bag and running with it to figure out how they can flip that bag into another candy crush saga money printer they can bully addicted boomers with
I despise their Balance/Hero Design, the matchmaking, the community (just plain toxic with few gems), and the Lack of Lore. So add +1 to all 4 of those.
I’ve been playing Marvel Rivals since beta, and even with all the ridiculous damage and healing/ all the ridiculous ults, I have fun. It’s STILL fun. I find myself having fun for a LONG time as long as that hero fantasy stays there. I’ve found ways to counter the “broken support ults/ dps ults” and I’ve used my OW habits in that game to much success. The match quality is surprisingly good even without role queue (qp is for fun, comp is for sweating).
I never thought I’d put OW down until this damn game. Blizzard needs to look hard at their formula, and restore the hero fantasy. Stop catering to the sweats. Get back to making cinematics and good lore. Stop being so safe with skins, go all out- stop reskinning. Let us have fun again.
(Played about 10 days ago to help my GF finish up to a certain point on BP, we both hated comp cause Widowmaker dominates… we went full dive, and the enemy team went full peel/ anti dive). (Not fun. Widow and one shots ruin this game…<in marvel rivals, there is one true one shot spam, and it’s from Hawkeye who is easy to kill and he has the 2nd lowest win rate in the game/ doesn’t feel oppressive>,…Also, dive is actually fun and rewarding in this game. So those oppressive poke heroes on paper get nullified fast.
OW the community constantly wanting other heroes nerfed to favor their own ruin this game. I used to be a kiriko main, and then got a lot of hate for playing her, she gets nerfed. Then I went to Bap, he got a lot of hate. Then I did ana since I started on ana, she got a lot of hate. Went to dps, almost every dps gets hate except Torb. Went tank? NO. Never tanking again in counterwatch. It seems that whomever is the hero to hate that month gets NERFED… that’s not fun, and that’s not fair.
The balance made me mad and this game needs to rehaul itself like they promised.
I love the devs, i love the voice actors/actresses, I love the lore and art teams- I hate what the game has become because they’re catering to an esports dream that died.
- 1 the team balance: still balancing the game around 50% winrate/pickrate and hardcounters.
- 2 too many low skills heros with high value. the most example is mauga.
- 3 the team balance still dont undestand that many mechanics needs reworks instean of a bucle of nerfs and buffs… a good example is the mercy infinity pocket. (is really hard balancing the dps if this pocket still exists)
- 4 why hardcounters are still alllowed on the game?? the dev team dont play the game?? why pharhamercy forces hitscans and why dva forces zarya?? wtf is sombra?
- 5 what are they waiting to rework widowmaker!!!

S9 was what really took this game downhill in terms of quality, and it’s still tumbling. Its only saving graces are the 6v6 test, and the way heroes feel.
Take a Rocket Launcher (PROJECTILE) vs an AR (HITSCAN) for example.
- A rocket launcher is nearly a guaranteed kill when it hits, even if you miss slightly you will still do heavily damage the target. Its weaknesses are a long reload time, one shot before reloading, slow travel speed and it might spiral away from target at long range.
- This gives the AR player a chance as bullets are faster to reach the target, are more accurate, have better reloads, capacity and over all better speed and handling.
This creates a dynamic where both are strong and weak against each other and at the same time giving players of said weapons the ability to Express skill and tactics.
Not in Overwatch. Projectiles are awarded with…no damage fall off.
Hitscans can output as much damage as the strongest projectile damage in a quarter of the time. And the falloff portion to “balance” their strengths? Doesn’t matter when most fights are always within their effective ranges and at the smallest chance a hitscan is “out of range,” they STILL out damage the Projectile since the projectiles have slow travel time for low damage. Oh and the average projectile is a 3 hit kill that takes a minimum of 3 seconds providing BEST conditions.
Hitscans are busted in this game.
I hate the fact that this game has become a job now, the interview with the game director explaining Overwatch and Quick Play as a Sweaty experience and how they believe that’s what makes Overwatch experience.
I don’t want every facet of this game to be Sweaty, serious game. I want to hop in and out of games, I want to play my pace and I only really want to engage competitive on my terms.
I quit Overwatch as soon as another similar game came out because I got tired of:
- The same annoying things EVERY match and the dev team completely refusing to do anything about it, because they’re more worried about nerfing/fixing something and the players of the character leaving.
- Sombra.
- Absolutely horrendous matchmaking. You should have fun even if you lost, and that just wasn’t there for me with Overwatch because every lost match is a stomp and so is every won match.
- Insanely toxic community. EZ said at the end of basically every match, people flaming teammates, trolling and insulting the enemy, and most people having the opinion that “there’s no such thing as toxicity ur just a sensitive snowflake stop crying little baby, why back in my day of CoD…”.
- People constantly staring at the scoreboard to find who is the “weakest link” to then flame them for the rest of the match and blame them for a loss.
- Sombra.
- Characters just got kinda stale and boring to me.
- Almost every single skin is for the big skin sellers and everyone else starves for skins in comparison.
- Really feels like the dev team could not give less of a crap about the playerbase. It took them ages to do 6v6 tests and it really seems like they’re only doing it because they feel forced, and they have no intention of making it a permanent thing because they don’t care.
- SOMBRA.
- Dev team seems super full of themselves, like we’re all stupid and only they know what’s best for us and the game. They really just do not listen to anything the community says, ever.
- Design of new characters is nowhere near as good as the design of the old ones. It’s like they pulled characters from a completely different game.
- Game doesn’t feel casual in any mode, ever. People treat every single mode like it’s competitive, and the dev team views it like this as well. QP, despite being horribly unbalanced and you only winning in escort if you stomp the enemy team (because you don’t get to play the other side), is treated instead like comp-lite, with people getting pissed if you aren’t playing perfectly, and leaver penalties get more and more harsh with every season.

Been thinking about this. Had a surprising realisation. There’s lots of game issues like matchmaker, queue times and feeling that theres a lot of cheating from time to time are sooo maddening BUT … in all honesty the thing that HAS made me refuse to buy skins and season packs for months and even leave the game for a couple of seasons, surprisingly isn’t something to do with the game its actually this forum.

So no actuall direction for OW2 is it PVP? is it casual? is it Competitive? I feel like OW2 has no identity. Like the game it self does not know what it is.
Hero Design: Now i have to say from a ballance prespective everything seems ballanced kinda. its not perfect but we can say confidently its ballanced.
Thats what ruins it for me, If i wanted to play a ballance game FPS i would go and play CS.
Hero Design: Some heroes have overloaded kits while others just exist for esthetic reasons.
Report system: Well even in the forums or ingame if you happend to have a different opinion you get banned.
And this is the comunity fault for not being able to have a proper conversation.{You all act and have a mental capacity and attention span less than my 6 year old Nephew}
With that said learn to have conversations.
Now to justify my upper statement. Blizzard has their fair share for this aswell.
So where is a selection to find people? Where can i find a team in game and play 5v5 properly? Go download this app to find people? Bruh i dont wanna donwload or enter any comunity i wanna just open my game and find everythng there.
Heros: Shame on you Blizzard and creative Director for not capitalize on your heroes.
Cause lets be honest some of those heroes have amazing story and they just never expand.
Anyway i could go on for ages but let me finish with this.
Stop ballancing the games for people Blizzard. Just learn to say sometimes to people Get Good and i mean this both for Pros and Average player.
If you have a vision go for it but stop adjusting to they most annoying voice in the background.
Anyway do i still play OW2? well sometimes to times maybe like once per 3 weeks and thats for like 3 games.
And i need to say this. Stop Enough with Sexuality in games. Yeah i get it we need diversity. But in all honesty who in the right mind snipe someone or heal someone or get a kill and go oh yeah get owned by a red head non binary etc etc etc. {You get my point} So give me sexuality and etc etc when YOU HAVE A STORY TO TELL eitherwise is just nonsense{ No seriously it ofers me 0 information what sexuality my hero is when there is no way to tell it. Do you think average people are hearing voice lines? And if so we heard them all at this point. There is video Essasys for that2.
Anyway cu all in MR where Heroes are heroes and not just glorify for whatever majority screams the most.

I should be able to play whatever however, but overwatch doesn’t allow this as heroes are stronger /weaker. If everyone went the hard or the easy route it wouldn’t be such a big deal but then we have so different playstiles that its no suprise its not working for most players.

I see some ppl asking for more/faster balance and I mean this nicely, but I couldn’t agree less. The game is being over balanced. They’re ‘mixing up’ the meta so much that heroes are being broken in the process. And for what? So the devs can decide how we play the game?
OW gives the player 0 control on what kinda of OW they actually get to play, and rampant balancing is half of that problem. We need more individual choice (like what modes and maps we play and who we play into) and less of the devs steering the meta.
Nah to be fair in all honesty.
We just need to let this game be what it wants to be and just move on and let the new generation of gamers to take over.
Sometimes we need to think that this game might not be design for us which is cool and all.
Hero bans and map picks are both long overdue missing features, I agree with that.
hard counters, and before ppl who play heroes who arent constatntly shot on by blizzard say there arent hard counters, go play junk and have the enemy team switch to phara mercy echo juno zarya dva, have fun
I think that’s more an issue of philosophy than frequency. In normal (read: not Blizzard) games balance patches don’t really break characters outside of the very top 0.1% metas. Dota patchnotes are like 20 pages every month or so, it’s insane, but characters very rarely break for the vast majority of the player base. At this point Blizzard seems to have accepted that they’re horrible at balancing and just change numbers deliberately to “switch it up”.
However… if we assume that Blizzard’s balance philosophy/ability doesn’t improve, more frequent balance patches would be bad, you’re right
