What drew you to overwatch

I never played an online FPS before. My friends wanted to try it out. I tried ana and fell in love with the idea of needing to shoot my own team instead of the enemy.

I always held on to the idea that one day they’d do something with the story (in game, not a comic or a book) and have been waiting patiently since.

To say my patience has worn thin is an understatement.

Big hype around it + my friend already got a game so once I visited him we played it. I enjoyed it so much that I played until late at night and then I decided I need to have my own copy. That was back in 2017 and I played more Overwatch in few months than that friend in 1,5 year. Sadly he wasn’t commited to that as he is League player mostly.

I also came from TF2 with around 2k hours so Overwatch being next gen hero shooter quickly got my attention.

This looked like a fun replacement for TF2 which I had grown a bit tired of, having played since 2007.

Now I’m kind of in a similar situation looking for a fun replacement for OW, lol

I was looking for online games similar to Team Fortress 2. I first played Paladins and then came to know about OW but hesitated in buying since it costs around 3500Rs. Which is a lot of money and not found of spending that kind of money on online-only games.

It was after i saw Junkenstein 2016 trailer i decided to buy. Since Blizzard had good record for supporting games for very long time. It got it on Dec 24.

idk colourful. I liked the way the characters were characters and would say funny things when you murder people

It was TF2, but with players rather than bots.

A friend of mine had me play it on their account not long after launch.

Needless to say, I got into it, and we aren’t friends anymore.

My girlfriend introduced me to Overwatch, and I used to be a big fan of classic FPS death matching like the various build-engine games, and have kept pace with the FPS world as I have other friends who are very high ranked in games like Valorant and CS:GO. So I thought sure.

The thing is Overwatch is literally the worst FPS I’ve ever played!

Utterly spastic movement with zero acceleration combined with no wallbanging to enable you to punish twitch-peeking, combined with absurd amounts of healing-on-tap vastly inflating the TTK, combined with hitscans that have no accuracy penalty when in motion, maps with absurd sightlines and no tools to block sightlines, projectiles that get most of their value via brain-dead spam, awful character designs that are far too easy to get value out of playing into far more demanding ones splitting the gameplay experience far too massively (really hurting progression and climb potential) between low and high ranked, unequal carry potential in different roles and the existence of so many counter-picks destroying any chance of fair matchmaking…

I could go on.

What keeps me playing is the fact that it’s a team-game that, unlike Valorant, isn’t just a bunch of isolated death-matches. Sadly Blizzard seem to think we want it to be CS:GO with cartoon heroes. As if Overwatch will ever be able to compete with CS:GO in the minds of people who want to play games like CS:GO.

Friend told me about it and than nobody would shut up about it and all the blizz fanboys went on and on about how “amazing blizzard is the best game studio EVERY they never make bad games or treat their player base like crap!”

Oh the irony… from there I played and it was “fun” but it gets old fast and I never really cared but I did play with friends that was until… Ana and Sombra ana I liked how she played a healing sniper you know? Sombra though was just amazing and fun for me sadly… that went down hill but aye if I want that play style I mean Cyberpunk… so yeah that’s what I’ve been doing.

It was a shooter made by Blizzard. At that time Blizzard was known for the quality of their titles and not releasing things “until they’re ready”, so it was a no-brainer of a purchase for me.

OW was my first FPS game on a PC, and the entire reason I learned to aim with a keyboard/mouse.

Too bad all good things must come to an end, but at the end of the day, I’m grateful for OW because it got me into other PC shooters I would’ve never touched otherwise.

Hopefully Blizz can polish up their tarnished reputation, but at least for me, the damage is done.

Everyone else around was playing it. And at some point one of my friends shown me some animated shorts. The “Hero” was the one that hooked me in and convinced me to buy the game too. It’s my favourite OW animated short to this day.

Sadly, none of the people that were recommending the game to me back then play anymore. We went from “everyone wants to play this game” to “if you still play this game you are gonna be laughed at”.

After spending a long time in a PC virtual world (Second Life), I wanted to come back to console gaming. At the time I got a good deal on a new console, that included some games (Overwatch being one of them).

When it came out on playstation all my friends partied together and played and they invited me to play a few games for fun. (i wasnt a fan of shooter games at the time). And when i played with them i genuinely was having fun playing and its what started my love for shooter games, and we played every night for years. Currently, me and my friends are now busy with responsibilities that we cant play together anymore because of our schedules, but i still like the game for what it is despite it now having a few flaws, i still find enjoyment in it

Junkrat: I have about 800 hours in TF2 Demoman.

Pharah: Then I played a bunch of Pharah because of an ungodly amount of hours in TRIBES.

Roadhog: Then just played a bunch of Roadhog until season 4 where they dumpstered him from B tier to F tier.

Then after that I went to the forums to try to get Hog to be better balanced.

I first was introduced to the game by my dad who wanted someone to play it with. Tracer immediately was my favorite because I was also a small gay who liked orange and I onetricked her for several months.

I didnt even have gaming PC then, I got one just for OW later, was like only game I wanted to play + GTA 5.

Overwatch 1 was the best online game ever made.

Junkrat and Roadhog, that’s all tbh
When ow came out i was in my Mad Max phase and loved everything post apocalypse. My best friend at the time then sent me the gameplay trailer for Junkrat and Roadhog and i immediately fell in love, proceeded to onetrick Junkrat for 100+ hours once i finally could play (literally a year later)

I’ve been a Mercy onetrick since Winter Wonderland 2018 but Junkrat is still my only source of serotonin in overwatch. He’s just such a great character and i love his ow2 lines. His interaction with Mercy makes me want to beat her up tho, how dare she be so rude to my boy :frowning:
Also before anyone says anything, I’m female.

Originally I was a WoW player. But they had a bad rep of poorly handling PVP. My friend that belonged to my guild, that got me into WoW. Told me to play this game. it was better than WoW. Because the devs were taking care of the problems that pushed us OUT of the game’s pvp in the WoW Universe.

Fast forward to 2016. I use to watch him stream the Overwatch game and I was finally going to give it a try. Since I guess it was supposed to be a better version of TF2.

Then the game started going down the same PITFALLS as WoW did. and its the same song and dance today here. as it was there.

This game by and large is a disgrace today. Especially since it went F2P Freemium. It opens the world to cheaters and makes SUPER unfair matches.

Overwatch was already headed out the door when they decided to once again try and profit off of “professional play” just like they did with WoW arena. And it was the same problem there, of them adjusting the game for ONLY the top 25% of players.

Then the game suffers unfair Solos Vs Pugs. It makes for UNFAIR matches and why players are disgusted when they get ganked by a group of friends in the first place.

Followed by full reworks and changing of timings. This game was destined for the return bin at a Game stop or uninstalling by pc players.

All Activision is, is an Aquisitions company, just like Behavior interactive. They do NOT care about player satisfaction and often times they only listen to the WORST ideas on purpose.

Aiming mechanics. Any other shooter feels like afk gameplay after ow’s tracking, flicking, animations learning, prediction, vertical aim and so on. I feel aiming in ow, unlike any other shooter games. There is no better feeling than being able to hold crosshair on the enemy actively trying to dodge your shots and ending up syncro-strafing them so that your crosshair didn’t slip-off an inch.
